I wont comment on the being sick cos I dont know, however I think it would make it worse as introducing fresh stomach acid to your gullet isnt gonna help.
Have you tried gaviscon liquid? I have had this as well and its one of the most painful things, try to sit up drink water or an alkaline drink such as fruit barley. best thing to do is relax as much as possible as it wear off. Take care xxx |
I suffer from bad heartburn, Have done now for a long time, Got perscribed medication off my doctor it helps abit but not much! The name of the medication is Lansoprazole also known as zorton. The main thing is to find out what causes you to get it. With me i know i cant eat chocolate. Oranges are another culprate as well as they cause to much acid! you could try drinking milk it helps for some people.

You get the feeling of heartburn when the acidic contents of your stomach splash up into your oesophagus (foodpipe) and irritate the lining of it.
So being sick would not help because this would cause more of the stomach contents to go past and irritate your oesophagus. What might help: non acidic foods/ drinks. Try milk, yoghurt, bread, plain rice, things like that, with some plain water. Fruit probably won't help, including fruit juice or squash, and salad probably won't help either (lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes etc). Taking some antacids. These may neutralise the acid in your stomach, but they don't stop it splashing into your oesophagus. Gaviscon tablets or liquid (make sure you don't get the aniseed flavour - GROSS!) these not only neutralise the acid but stop it splashing into your oesophagus. These work well if you take them after you've eaten some of the foods I already suggested, like take them after you eat a plain yoghurt and some bread, or something. Beyond this, if you get the symptoms often, you ought to see a doctor who may suggest a medication like all-hope.lost-forever mentioned. These kind of drugs stop your stomach from making acid in the first place. Lastly, are you sure the pain is heartburn? You said it hurts so much you're having trouble breathing... how much trouble? And where exactly is the pain you felt? Does it move anywhere else? Is it worse if you are in a particular position (sitting, lying, walking...)? Hope it's fine now, I realise I'm a bit late. xxx |
