They already won't eat Asda peppers! You might be in trouble XD

I am the world's biggest rebel!

I just feel like enjoying the ultimate combo of freshly showered, fresh pjs and clean bedding. And have no idea if I will have shower energy tomorrow. But depends if I get too tired and have to go back to bed before we can get it changed

Cacoethes 06-05-2023 07:17 PM

I might be!
They have actually started eating the asda peppers now! Which is good, because peppers are full of vit C and they can have them every day. Like humans, they cannot produce their own vit C. And they can't have certain things every day because too high in calcium or oxalates or whatever. They are prone to bladder stones so too much calcium is bad. And also bloat, so can't have things like green beans and broccoli every day.
Guinea pigs are often seen as a good 'starter pet' but they are more complicated than most people think!

Sorry, i often go on guinea pig fact rants XD

Yeesss that is the best combo!
Although, if you can do it with brand new PJs and socks too! The best.

one_step_closer 06-05-2023 07:44 PM

Tell us another guinea pig fact, Beckie!

Jen, I can't believe you might be rebelling against RYL bedding change day. But if you or your partner are up to it I might let you off having to wait until tomorrow because fresh bedding is the best.

nonperson 06-05-2023 07:48 PM

Join the rebellion, Jen! Let's both do the things on the days that aren't assigned by RYL.

*cough* ...bins... *cough*

one_step_closer 06-05-2023 07:53 PM

You're not rebelling, NP, you had no say in the matter!

Cacoethes 06-05-2023 07:54 PM

Their teeth grow really fast. One of the reasons they need to eat hay all the time (is 85% of their diet) is to keep their teeth worn down. And also because if they don't eat all the time, they go into gut stasis REALLY fast!
Which is very bad!

Nooo you can't have the bedding change day too np! D:

I enjoy guinea pig facts. It shows how enthusiastic you are about your boys and how you make sure they are super well cared for. I would make a bad guinea pig as peppers make me ill. Can they eat anything else that has Vitamin C in?

I sometimes like socks in bed but I find the elastic can rub too much at times and sometimes my feet get too warm in socks. In winter though definitely.

I mean my bin day has been Friday morning since I moved to this flat in October 2018, so my bin night is Thursday! I am the ultimate rebel!!!

one_step_closer 06-05-2023 07:56 PM

So, they're almost constantly eating? Sounds a bit like me!

I am going on a learning journey today! Hay for the guinea pigs!

one_step_closer 06-05-2023 07:58 PM

Jen, that isn't rebelling. It's just very unfortunate and sad that your bin day does not coincide with RYL bin day. I feel for you having been put in that position.

long road 06-05-2023 07:59 PM

Also thank you for your leniency Lindsay I will see if my partner feels up for changing bedding.

Cacoethes 06-05-2023 08:18 PM

Parsley has a lot of vitamin C, but also high in calcium so can cause bladder stones if they have too much. So they can only have it a couple of times a week. They have pellets which contain vitamin C also, but most comes from fresh veg.
They can't have carrots, sweetcorn or fruit too much either. Lots of sugar!

I am glad you like my guinea pig facts!
I'm sure most people get sick of them XD

I have to wear socks in bed. I do make an exception when it's very warm!

one_step_closer 06-05-2023 08:18 PM

I'm already dreading having to change my bedding tomorrow. Getting the blooming duvet into the sheet!!!

one_step_closer 06-05-2023 08:19 PM

I also always wear socks in bed. The bottom of the bed is cold.

Well I like parsley. But I would definitely have to be more self controlled if I was a guinea pig. I put parsley in nearly every dish I cook! You definitely should get an award for Guinea pig care like Beth's work did!

I understand I have to have a sheet or a blanket or something even if I am boiling, just feels wrong not being covered.

Sorry Scotland is too far for me to lend you my partner. Any luck finding a duvet changing robot? If not maybe you could try Jenna's fancy rolling method tomorrow?

one_step_closer 06-05-2023 08:26 PM

The rolling method would be too difficult for me. I'll just have to hope my bedding will behave.

Cacoethes 06-05-2023 08:31 PM

I don't find it difficult. The inside out method is really easy. I still hate doing it!

I also like parsley!

Haha! There's still lots i don't know.
But thank you!
I don't actually know why i can remember all this, my memory is usually really awful!

Yeah same, always have to be covered!

long road 06-05-2023 08:39 PM

Inside out method is the best one person way to do it I think. I spent many years just wiggling half inside the duvet cover with the duvet before discovering it!

I am going to help my partner change the bedding when they finish their video game match. It can be a lot of faff, it doesn't help that I have 4 extra pillows so I can prop myself up as needed and stack them along the wall when my limbs are spasming to keep me safe. Even more bedding to change!

We will probably wait to wash it tomorrow though.

Maybe you remember it because you love them and so your brain is trying extr hard!

not_so_insig 06-05-2023 08:45 PM

I always struggle with the duvet Lindsay. Will have to Google alternative methods.

Cacoethes 06-05-2023 08:46 PM

I think my mum taught me! Or i saw her do it or something.

Good luck!
That is a lot of pillows!

That's probably it!
I can literally forget something I'm about to google in the time it takes me to open google! XD

Ahimsa 06-05-2023 09:03 PM

My bin day is also Friday, so Thursday is bin night! You aren’t on your own!!

I got my tattoo

long road 06-05-2023 09:10 PM

Bedding has been changed. We put on the rainbow covers. Partner did most of the changing while I hunted out matching pillow cases an reorganised the bedding and towel shelf at the top of the wardrobe. I am a bit puffed now. But looking forward to getting in bed soon.
Took forever to find the pillow case for the v shaped pillow!

As for memory we are all getting Old!

long road 06-05-2023 09:11 PM

Ooh what tattoo did you get Beth?

Cacoethes 06-05-2023 09:12 PM

Yaay for tattoo!
Send me a pic!

Well done!
Rainbow bedding sounds cool!

My tesco delivery came shortly after 8!
I hope i get tired soon.
Typical that I've been tired all day but not now :eyeroll:

Pi.R^2 06-05-2023 09:20 PM

And me Beth! Also Beckie why have I not received a jpg???

Cacoethes 06-05-2023 09:26 PM

Rectified!

Ahimsa 06-05-2023 09:33 PM

Ahh you've all been productive today! :)

Jenna and Beckie, image incoming on FB messenger!

Cacoethes 06-05-2023 09:36 PM

Already said this but it's soo nice!

I think I'm gonna try heading off to bed.
Night everyone!

Ahimsa 06-05-2023 09:45 PM

Thanks Beckie! I love it :)

Sleep well x

Pi.R^2 06-05-2023 09:49 PM

Hurrah, thanks both! Excellent tattoos :)

Cacoethes 07-05-2023 07:26 AM

Morning thread!

I'm taking the boys to have their nails clipped today. They were good as gold last time so shouldn't take long! They're not going to be impressed though. Luckily i have a fridge full of herbs!
Hopefully it doesn't rain on the walk there and back :ermm:

nonperson 07-05-2023 09:18 AM

I squirm around too much for an extra sheet under the duvet, I end up in a proper tangle. Mum always put one on the bed though despite my complaining when I was home.

No rain forecast here today Beckie so you might be alright?

Cacoethes 07-05-2023 09:25 AM

I'm the same.
Even with just the sheet in hospital with nothing else, I'd get in a tangle all the time!

Just checked and none forecast here either! Fingers crossed!

Do you have any plans for today?

nonperson 07-05-2023 09:30 AM

Well I'm currently at work, not doing any work... but when I have I think it will be home, shower, sleep. Nothing exciting. =/

Cacoethes 07-05-2023 09:32 AM

Hope work is ok!
When do you finish?
That's fair. It's sunday, not meant to be exciting!

The boys keep death napping and it makes me anxious XD

nonperson 07-05-2023 09:42 AM

I finish as soon as I get off my bum and do the work I need to do, heh. Maybe an hour.

That happens with Geordi too, have to double check that he's still breathing.

Cacoethes 07-05-2023 09:47 AM

Lol. That's not too bad.

The amount of times I say 'boys, are you dead?' In a day is ridiculous. I have managed to stop poking them though XD
It's always worrying isn't it?

tamobhuuta 07-05-2023 10:02 AM

Morning guys.

long road 07-05-2023 10:26 AM

Morning.

I woke up in a bit of a weird fog this morning. But coming to now. I am currently having a hot chocolate which feels rebellious as I never have one in the morning but I randomly fancied one.

How is everyone else?

Ahimsa 07-05-2023 10:46 AM

Yay for hot chocolate!!!!

I slept pretty badly, so a nap will be on the cards for later! I need to clean the kitchen, do a food shop and do the next weeks batch cooking.

tamobhuuta 07-05-2023 11:01 AM

Ooo hot chocolate. I might have one later now you mention it.

That's a lot Ahimsa!

Ahimsa 07-05-2023 11:20 AM

Compared to my full to do list, it's really not!

However, once I'm back from the food shop, I can do my jigsaw!

Cacoethes 07-05-2023 11:20 AM

Hot chocolate is a good plan!
Hopefully you'll wake up a bit more soon!

That's quite a bit beth!

Me and the boys are back from the vets.
As predicted, they were very much not impressed with the nail clipping!
Merry at least stayed still, did squeak a couple of times.
Pippin kept making a break for it XD
When she was doing pippin, he kept turning to look at me with a look of utter betrayal! And when i gave him a cuddle afterwards, for some reason he started trying to run up towards my face??
I'm sure with time and herbs, i will be forgiven!

tamobhuuta 07-05-2023 11:31 AM

You're a naughty mummy Cacoethes!

Cacoethes 07-05-2023 11:33 AM

I know, how terrible of me! XD
They're both hiding now.
I'll wait a few hours before doing tbe spot clean!

nonperson 07-05-2023 11:37 AM

Guinea pigs are slippery creatures! I remember trying to catch mine when they made a break for it.

Pi.R^2 07-05-2023 11:42 AM

Aww, poor guinea pigs. We have to give our remaining chinchilla medication every day and that's one of her many reasons to go off in a big sulk with us!

Good luck with the chores Beth, glad you've got a jigsaw to look forward to :)

K warned me that a spot of light gardening might not be so good for my neck, I did it anyway and I checked with them to confirm that they had zero sympathy for my predicament :P

Cacoethes 07-05-2023 11:44 AM

They are! They can be incredibly speedy and squirmy!
I don't know how people have free roaming pigs, if i let mine out, I'd never be able to catch them again!

Poor chinchilla!
I imagine the medication doesn't taste great!
You can get flavoured meds for guinea pigs apparently! Can't remember which one or what for, but you can get cherry and some others.

I too, have zero sympathy :tongue2:

nonperson 07-05-2023 11:48 AM

Jenna, seeing as you've done your gardening with a bad neck, does that mean I can avoid mine on your behalf?

Pi.R^2 07-05-2023 11:49 AM

K accidentally tasted it one time and confirmed that it was gross, worse than all of Millie's, which K tasted due to needing to work out which was which when we had like 5 different ones out in syringes at a time. The vet requested that they stop tasting the medications.

np, that sounds like a really reasonable plan actually, providing you give me some sympathy :P
