Aubergine 28-01-2018 03:04 PM

It's going well thanks! I've not done an awful lot so far, but I'm going for a coffee with my Uncle at about 3:30pm. :)

Cheryl88 28-01-2018 03:20 PM

Sounds like fun. Are you finished work for the day?

Aubergine 28-01-2018 03:21 PM

I don't work weekends. :D I only work two days a week, Thursday and Fridays. :) I am a lowly part-timer!

Up to much this afternoon?

Buttons. 28-01-2018 03:23 PM

hey all, hope all is as well as possible.

Cheryl88 28-01-2018 03:40 PM

I only work one day a week at the moment, usually a Thursday. This afternoon I'm going back up to the hospital to see my mum and then coming home to make dinner. I'm struggling getting things done, I should really be doing something productive.

Aubergine 28-01-2018 03:42 PM

It's OK to have days when you're not productive. :) Thursday is a great day to work! :) What are you having for dinner?

Hey Buttons! Missed you!

Cheryl88 28-01-2018 03:44 PM

Hi Buttons.

Cheryl88 28-01-2018 03:46 PM

I went to Morrisons yesterday and got chicken dinners that you just put in the oven. I can't be bothered cooking properly these days so they're handy.

Cacoethes 28-01-2018 03:48 PM

We missed you buttons!!

Agree with Aubergine, its ok to have unproductive days!!

Aubergine 28-01-2018 03:49 PM

They sound nice, Cheryl! I'm not much of a cook, either. I like stuff I can microwave. :P

Yo Beckie!

Cheryl88 28-01-2018 03:53 PM

My mental health hasn't been great recently, it's led to me struggling to get things done. I'm just feeling really negative, I'm probably tired.

Cheryl88 28-01-2018 03:54 PM

I used to like cooking and baking but now I like heating-up. :D

Aubergine 28-01-2018 03:55 PM

I always feel worse when I'm tired. I hope you get some good sleep soon. :)

My Mum is coming later to drop my dry laundry off. She is a gem for drying it all - I'd done three loads!

Cacoethes 28-01-2018 03:55 PM

I'm a good cook when I make the effort!
Which I rarely do these days :p

Yo Aubergine!
You were actually in my dream last night (sounds creepy I know XD ) The weirdest part is I don't know what you look like so I'm not sure how that worked

Make sure you take care of yourself Cheryl
Self care is very important!

Aubergine 28-01-2018 03:57 PM

Did I look like you, Beckie? :P Haha, that is a bit creepy. What was the dream about?!

Cacoethes 28-01-2018 03:59 PM

I can't really remember!
The part you were in was at university, that's all I remember!

Cheryl88 28-01-2018 03:59 PM

Songs of Praise is coming on. Apparently it's Homeless Sunday. I'm always amazed at the number of homeless people around here, it is getting worse as it usually does under a Tory government. We live in one of the richest nations in the world, there shouldn't be homelessness in this day and age.

Aubergine 28-01-2018 04:01 PM

Oh! Was it a brick uni? Many moons ago, I got places at a few unis to study social work. Didn't go though. :P My OU tutor phoned me the other day, did I tell you? She seems really lovely!

Cacoethes 28-01-2018 04:04 PM

I get very sad about homelessness.
I don't see any in my town, but in the bigger town I go to college in, there are lots. It's beyond belief that this can happen in this day and age.

It was a brick uni Aubergine!
That's good that she seems nice!
Ive had good experience with the OU tutors

Aubergine 28-01-2018 04:06 PM

There are lots of homeless people where I live, too. It's awful. There's so much judgement, too. I get so cross.

I'm glad you have had a good experience with OU tutors! Which modules did you do?

Cacoethes 28-01-2018 04:12 PM

Me too.
Especially in this weather.
It's not like these people are choosing to freeze on the streets and people treat them so badly.

I did SDK125, S142 and DSE141

Aubergine 28-01-2018 04:15 PM

Cool! I'm doing SDK100, which I think sounds similar to SDK125. :)

Cacoethes 28-01-2018 04:16 PM

Cool!
SDK125 was my favourite!

Aubergine 28-01-2018 04:17 PM

It looks SO interesting! It's really related to work, too. Did you find the workload manageable? I'm hoping it will be. Really must send off this thing for DSA! I keep putting it off... Oops. :P

Cheryl88 28-01-2018 04:19 PM

Some people think that those who are homeless are by their own volition but it can happen to anyone. If you lose your job and don't pay your rent you're one step away from being on the streets. They're not all alcoholics and drug users.

Aubergine 28-01-2018 04:23 PM

You're right, Cheryl. It's hard. Even if they are alcoholics and drug users, there's usually a reason for it. Addiction is a disease; it's not an easy life to lead.

Almost time to go to Costa! Hot chocolate? I think so!

Cacoethes 28-01-2018 04:23 PM

I found it very manageable!
And if you're struggling, its really easy to get extensions on assignments so no need to panic if you're a little behind.
Yes you must do that!

Exactly Cheryl.
I was homeless for quite a while, even though I was in hospital and not on the streets which I do count my blessings for, but even then, the feeling of being homeless took a massive toll on my health so it must be 100 x worse for those on the streets

Cheryl88 28-01-2018 04:30 PM

I'm lucky enough to never have experienced homelessness but I think it's an awful thing to happen to anyone. I can't imagine not having somewhere to go, it's something we just take for granted. A hot chocolate sounds good, I love Starbucks hot chocolate.

Aubergine 28-01-2018 04:31 PM

Thank you. :) That's reassuring! :)

Off for coffee! See you later! :D

Cacoethes 28-01-2018 04:41 PM

It can happen to anyone so easily!

Enjoy yourself Aubergine!!

Cheryl88 28-01-2018 04:44 PM

Bye Aubergine, enjoy yourself!

Cheryl88 28-01-2018 04:48 PM

Yes and it's good there are people out there working with the homeless and trying to help.

Cacoethes 28-01-2018 04:49 PM

Yes that is good.
There should be more help available though.
Especially when you consider all these politicians giving themselves pay rises all the time and owning multiple houses and stuff.
Ugh!

Cheryl88 28-01-2018 04:56 PM

Exactly! Claiming the taxpayer's money for moats and never having to spend any of their ridiculous salaries. It could see the point if they did a good job.

Cacoethes 28-01-2018 04:58 PM

It's so ridiculous
It's amazing that its still allowed to happen!

Cheryl88 28-01-2018 05:04 PM

They were also caught employing their family members and then billing the taxpayer for it. They keep telling us about austerity, think of how much money we'd save if stopped picking up the bill for them.

Cheryl88 28-01-2018 05:08 PM

I need to go back up to the hospital later, my brother just text me and told me to come back tonight. My mum's getting moved ward so she'll not be getting out tonight, I was hoping she would. He said she's still the same, they're waiting for antibiotics to work. I'm trying to distract myself but it's not working.

Cheryl88 28-01-2018 05:11 PM

Television is garbage on Sundays. Have you been watching anything decent recently?

Cacoethes 28-01-2018 05:12 PM

I heard about that too.
Appalling!

I can't imagine how difficult that must be.
Do you have support from other family members?

I'm watching Garfield 2

Cheryl88 28-01-2018 05:21 PM

My aunt and cousins are going to visit tonight and my mum has close friends so they'll probably be visiting as well but we can't have everyone up at the same time. I'm watching Matilda, I've seen this film so often I could play a part in it.

Cacoethes 28-01-2018 05:35 PM

It's good that you've got other people about

I haven't seen Matilda in years!

Cheryl88 28-01-2018 05:55 PM

I used to love Roald Dahl books when I was younger!

Cacoethes 28-01-2018 06:06 PM

Me too!
What was your favourite?

Aubergine 28-01-2018 06:10 PM

James and the Giant Peach. :D

Sketchy 28-01-2018 06:11 PM

Hello everyone!

I’m just home from staying over at my sister’s. The cat was being as adorable as always.

Cacoethes 28-01-2018 06:11 PM

Thats a good one Aubergine!

Sounds nice Lorraine!

Sketchy 28-01-2018 06:11 PM

My favourite is the witches.

Aubergine 28-01-2018 06:13 PM

I like The Witches too! :)

It sounds like you had a nice time at your sister's. :)

Sketchy 28-01-2018 06:16 PM

I did.

How are you guys?

Cacoethes 28-01-2018 06:18 PM

Illusive brother was terrified of the witches film!!

Im ok. Tired as usual!
