Yep, spending the day at home.
|
I'm sure you'll have a lovely time.
|
Yeah I will. It's just quite an intense day usually seeing parents.
|
Oh yes! Person's birthday! :)
I'm in bed, electric blanket on, big bang on laptop, all good. :) |
Oh, I forgot! Happy birthday, Person!
|
It's tomorrow.
|
30 minutes til my birthday. I was a 9am ish baby too.
Hi Aubergine! I'm wrapped in a fleecy blanket, not quite as snuggly as an electric one but still pretty good. Listening to a bit of Imagine Dragons and other random Amazon music stuff. Having a little boogie. |
There's a song that;s come on called Shut Up and Dance which I know from the radio and for some reason I thought it was Take That! It's actually by Walk The Moon... XD
I think I need to listen to some Take That now.... |
Saw Take That when they reformed and did their big concerts in Wembley. I was sceptical but it was effing epic.
|
I like new take that, not old take that!
Fleecy blanket sounds nice. I have an electric underblanket on my bed and a heated throw for when I am not in bed. Sometimes I sandwich myself between the two! 20 minutes, Person! |
I quite like a few of Take That's songs.
And I know that song... "this woman is my destiny she says ooh-ooh shut up and dance with me." I really like Gwen Stefani when I'm in a good mood. |
You sound like you're cooking between those two blanket, Aubergine! Roasted Aubergine.... yum! XD
Yes, definitely new Take That, not the old stuff. I hated them when they/I were young. Never Forget is my fav though and that's an old one. It was absolutely amazing live. For some reason the old ones become cool when they're performed by new Take That, lol. I'm not sure if this is making me happy or depressed right now, argh. I'd say they were one of my all time favourite live performances. Robbie did some of his songs and I was a big fan of his when he went solo. |
I love roasted aubergine! I am not a cannibal though... :P
I like Robbie's solo stuff too. :) Happy birthday! *throws a party and brings a cake* Make a wish! |
Happy birthday :-)
|
Thanks folks.
Actually not sure how I feel about it now... argh. x.x |
Actually just ****ing burst in to tears... yay. x.x
|
I killed random chat. Sorry.
|
You didn’t kill random chat, I think people are just starting to go to bed at the moment so probably isn’t as busy in here.
It’s ok to be sad it’s your birthday. There’s a whole song devoted to crying on birthdays isn’t there? |
I don't think I need to hear it!
I'm going to apologise now for any weird drunken posts... |
Anyone around..?
|
Morning! *hands out coffee*
Hope you managed to go to bed safely last night person. |
Good morning, Pomegranate.
|
My mother was taken into hospital last night. I'm just killing time before I go and pick up my brother, he's coming to stay here so we can go visiting later.
|
I’m sorry to hear that Freeatlast. Have you had some sleep?
|
I fell asleep before midnight and woke up just after six. Did you sleep well?
|
Not really. Don’t like sleeping on a sleeping bag and kept thinking the oncall phone was ringing. Just about to start my day shift. I’m glad you managed to get some sleep. What time are you going to visit your Mum?
|
When I phoned my dad he said she was still waiting to see a doctor, that was at 6am so she'll probably be admitted to a ward with visiting hours. I think it'll be visiting from 2-4pm, I'm not really sure.
I was meant to be going to church but I'm giving it a miss, family is more important. |
That’s true but it’s a shame you have to miss it. Could you go before visiting?
|
There's a service on at half six that I might go to. I'll see how I feel.
I need to go and get ready to pick my brother up, I said I'd be there for 9. I hope you have a good day on dayshift, I'll hopefully speak to you later. Have a nice day! |
Thanks. Hope visiting goes as well as it can!
|
Morning!
|
Morning, just been to Morrison's to get bits & pieces, going to stay in all day from now on.
|
Hey Cpt! Having a day in sounds good! :) I did that yesterday! What did you get from Morrisons?
|
Hello. I’m at the hospital visiting my mum. She’s been in hospital since last night and is still waiting to see a doctor. We’re all just sitting looking at each other. I feel totally helpless, she’s going downhill rapidly.
|
Hey guys
|
Hi Cacoethes. How's it going?
|
Hey!
Not bad thanks. And you can call me Beckie if you like :) How are you? |
Hi Beckie, you can call me Cheryl.
I'm not so great today, I think I'm about to lose my mum. She has terminal cancer and she's been admitted to hospital again. I was there seeing her earlier and she looks like she's ready to stop fighting. I just want her back home. |
Hi Cheryl!
Nice to meet you! Im so sorry to hear that. I can't imagine how difficult that must be. She's in the best place to get help though |
They're saying she has an infection and they're giving her antibiotics but her breathing is really terrible. The doctor's emphasis when she came was on making her as comfortable as possible. She's been sick for a long time but I'm feeling really unprepared for her dying and my dad's devastated. He said that they were talking about plans for her funeral this morning, it's suddenly very real.
|
Hi Cheryl, I'm Chris.
I am very sorry to hear that, my parents are both in good health, so I can't imagine what it's like for you. |
Hi Chris. It's torture having to watch and knowing there's nothing you can do, just total helplessness. My brother's come home to stay for three days so he can spend time with her. I'm just gutted.
Anyway, how are you doing today? |
Maybe you should start a support thread Cheryl?
Might be helpful during this really difficult time |
I'm OK thanks Cheryl, just relaxing, done my washing, going to have curry & an early night for work tomorrow.
|
That's a good idea, it probably would help. I'll do it after I go up to visit her because I'm still holding on to the hope that she might get better once the infection's cleared. No one knows that she's in hospital, we decided not to tell anyone yet so that they can visit her at home instead of at the hospital. This has been really sudden and that sounds stupid because she's had cancer for three or four years in three different places.
I hope I'm not depressing you. |
I had an early night last night, was in bed asleep by half eleven. I've got my CPN coming tomorrow, I think I'll phone her in the morning and cancel the appointment.
|
I deleted my last post, my parents have been retired for years, they still seem optimistic about the future & have plans when they may only have a few years left if that, & I don't really get that.
|
Hello again! :)
|
We've got a holiday booked for May because we were hoping she'd still be here. One of the worst things about terminal illness is there's no real way of knowing how long a person has left, the doctors have never told us, they just basically told her to make the most of whatever time God gives her.
My mum's 57 and my dad's 69 so I always thought it would be my dad who'd die first. |
Hi Aubergine, how's your day going?
