Good to know. How do you stop them then???

Bullet to the brain?

Cacoethes 29-05-2023 06:46 PM

I don't know. I lost focus for the end. Story of my life XD

nonperson 29-05-2023 06:47 PM

Well let's just hope none of us come across zombie starfish any time soon.

Cacoethes 29-05-2023 06:49 PM

I hope not!
I think Jen is probably the most likely to come across them, given her proximity to the sea

Pi.R^2 29-05-2023 06:50 PM

Oh my days Beckie, what a cliffhanger!!! If I get turned into a zombie by a starfish, I know who'll I'll be blaming!

Cacoethes 29-05-2023 06:54 PM

Well, you'll be a zombie, so probably not capable of blaming me.
May the odds be ever in your favour

nonperson 29-05-2023 07:08 PM

Do we even have starfish in British waters?

Ahimsa 29-05-2023 07:24 PM

I need to make dinner but one of the cats is asleep on me

Ahimsa 29-05-2023 07:24 PM

RIP me. I will clearly die waiting for her to wake up.

Pi.R^2 29-05-2023 07:30 PM

RIP.

I need to make dinner but K is asleep so don't want to make it yet, but also don't want to wait until they wake up because they may wake up hungry and then will not be pleased to have to wait 45 minutes for dinner!

Ahimsa 29-05-2023 07:30 PM

What are you making?

Ahimsa 29-05-2023 07:31 PM

THE BABY IS AWAKE! I CAN MAKE DINNER!

Exciting news! Cancel the funeral plans.

My research suggests yes!!

Pi.R^2 29-05-2023 07:32 PM

I will be making lentil chilli, despite some concerns about whether I will have enough green lentils, so living life on the edge here.

Hooray! What will you be making?
Also as a fun fact lots of us round here call funerals 'buffets' :P

Pi.R^2 29-05-2023 07:37 PM

Random announcement!
tamo - you're the 20th highest poster of all time on RYL!
np - you're the 40th!

Cacoethes 29-05-2023 07:39 PM

I'm fairly sure I've seen starfish on british beaches!

Oooh that's a risk jenna!

Yay for dinner beth!

Where am I on this league table??

long road 29-05-2023 07:41 PM

To address the microwave comment
1. I grew up without one so never really saw it as an essential. Only thing it makes easier is heating up leftovers or milk for hot chocolate. And you can heat most leftover on the hob.
2. I don't really have spare counter space for one.
3. My partner (who as previously established has strange opinions about appliances) doesn't like microwaves / is weird about food heated in them.

Pi.R^2 29-05-2023 07:42 PM

Beckie, you're second but I checked back and that's where you were the last time I announced that. I don't think you successfully guessed who was above you though? Think Master of Thread Hugging (as they count as posts!)

Pi.R^2 29-05-2023 07:43 PM

Should have mentioned Lindsay - 4th!!

not_so_insig 29-05-2023 07:43 PM

Where am I Jenna?

Pi.R^2 29-05-2023 07:47 PM

49th.

I don't think starfish have a central nervous system or at least they don't have one concentrated brain, it's spread through their body..

I guess the solution if I were to come across a zombie star fish is a really big hammer. Like pulverise them.

I have seen regular starfish in British rock pools. Although the beaches nearest me don't have many rock pools

one_step_closer 29-05-2023 07:55 PM

I left RYL for about a year. I should have stayed, then I might have been higher than 4th!

tamobhuuta 29-05-2023 07:57 PM

Lots of posts in the past couple of hours! Re: rock pools, when I was little I used to enjoy sticking my fingers in the rock pools at the sealife centre.

Lindsay and Beckie see above for the reasons I don't have a microwave.

one_step_closer 29-05-2023 08:00 PM

As long as your cooking instruments suit you then you don't need a microwave. There may be some special award for that, Jen. Or you might get in the book of records for the only person who doesn't have a microwave. (Although I suspect that's not true).

Did you not get grabbed by a crab or something, Tamo?

long road 29-05-2023 08:02 PM

Well my parents still don't have a microwave. Also I used to use the work one sometimes when going to the office was a thing.

one_step_closer 29-05-2023 08:03 PM

Were you not so impressed by the office one that you wanted one for yourself?

Cacoethes 29-05-2023 08:04 PM

Ohh yeah i think i remember you saying!
It's pretty sad tbh XD
I know exactly who you mean because i KNOW there's someone who hugs pretty much every thread but my brain is not supplying me with the name!!! D:

Ah those reasons make sense jen!

I used to love playing in rock pools as a kid!

nonperson 29-05-2023 08:06 PM

How many posts do I need to get to 39th place?

Edit: Maybe I should start hugging more threads...

But I don't give out hugs readily because... personal boundaries and all that. Anyone who has a hug from me should consider themselves special (even if I was guilt-tripped into doing so) =)

one_step_closer 29-05-2023 08:08 PM

This is a serious place, NP. Not a competition.

one_step_closer 29-05-2023 08:08 PM

Kidding.

nonperson 29-05-2023 08:09 PM

Lindsay =P

I'm just curious! Not gonna go on a spamtastic posting spree or anything!

Or should I?

Ahimsa 29-05-2023 08:10 PM

I also don't have a microwave.

I do however now have homemade curry and a glass of wine :)

I also had one at my student house. They are convenient but if I have other cooking methods available I don't tend to use them that much. Maybe a few times a week. Not really enough to be worth all the counter space it would take up.

I don't tend to eat ready meals much so do not need them for that. We go for easy to cook things but not full on ready meals, partly because quality is generally not as good in my experience from days as a student partly because food intolerances and allergies make them a pain, so many things have peppers in them!

one_step_closer 29-05-2023 08:11 PM

Only if you properly spam about some product, NP.

Enjoy, Beth!

long road 29-05-2023 08:11 PM

Oooh curry

one_step_closer 29-05-2023 08:12 PM

You'll need to share with me your easy make things, Jen. I hate having to prepare things.

Has it only got to be discount ugg boots? =(

I will have curry for dinner too but it will be lovingly prepared in the microwave =P

Ahimsa 29-05-2023 08:15 PM

I also got 3 extra portions out of it, so more batch stuff! :)

one_step_closer 29-05-2023 08:16 PM

If you can go lower/better? than discount Uggs then do it.

Enjoy your curry too, NP.

That's a win, Beth!

Ahimsa 29-05-2023 08:17 PM

Where am I on the list?

Cacoethes 29-05-2023 08:18 PM

I live on ready meals because i am lazy and other reasons.

Another Acceptable product to spam about would be multi coloured dog poo bags.

Oooh homemade curry and wine! Yum!

long road 29-05-2023 08:36 PM

I am logging off for now combo of asthma and fatigue has hit me and I am feeling rather crap. Have a good Evening everyone

Ahimsa 29-05-2023 08:38 PM

Goodnight LR

nonperson 29-05-2023 08:39 PM

Multi coloured dog poo bags... o.O

I mostly have ready meals nowadays too, Beckie... =/ Or a random concoction of stuff from the freezer.

Decided against curry tonight and have opted for hash browns and veggie fingers instead.

Hope you can get some rest, Jen!

tamobhuuta 29-05-2023 08:45 PM

Good night LR.

I'm heading off to bed in a minute too.
