Ninja post!

The things we do for our pets!

It's basically the great escape with chickens in wallace and gromit style.

Yeah best not then!

Cacoethes 16-04-2023 01:54 PM

Busy in here today!

Takeaway always tastes better next day imo

Yay for cat chat! Crookshanks is warming my lap right now and purring and I'm having to angle my laptop in an uncomfortable position just so he can put his chin on the arm of the couch. Cats must come first!

I've watched Chicken Run but can't remember much about it. A film with chickens in it sounds dull.

I close my bedroom door so Crookshanks can't go in and destroy and try to eat anything. I'd love to have him in bed with me but on trials he just does the destroying and trying to eat things. And I don't have a partner so get the whole bed and peace to sleep. :-)

Edit: how is your day going Ahimsa?
Do you have something tasty for lunch?

It's not going fantastically, I'm at animal A&E today, We've admitted 6 animals this morning and the vets have just gone into emergency surgery for the next few hours, so we've got the second on call vet in. By 9am, I'd already dealt with a cat who had been hit by a a car, had to check it for a chip and let the owners know :( It had no chance of making it but its injuries weren't what I wanted to see within an hour of being awake!

one_step_closer 16-04-2023 01:57 PM

Does working with unwell animals get to you? I don't know if I could do it. I hope things get better. That's a bit rubbish having to do things on your laptop while you have your lunch, you sound so busy. I hope you enjoy your lunch at least.

Cacoethes 16-04-2023 02:12 PM

Oh that's awful :(
I'd find that so difficult

Ahimsa 16-04-2023 02:13 PM

I'm very glad I'm not on the clinical side!!

How is everyone else Sunday's going?

I joined RYL bedding change day today, or more accurately I got my partner to change the bed covers while I was in the shower!

one_step_closer 16-04-2023 02:29 PM

That was a smart move, Jen! I hate changing my bedding mainly trying to get the duvet in the duvet cover.

tamobhuuta 16-04-2023 02:31 PM

I half did my bedding the other day, then had to call in support.

Cacoethes 16-04-2023 02:52 PM

'My whole life flashed before my eyes! It was really boring'
Love babs!

I should probably do mine too. Slightly less effort here as no duvets!

Pi.R^2 16-04-2023 03:05 PM

Jen, yes, well remembered!

Lindsay, have you tried the Great Inside Out Trick for putting on a duvet cover? It revolutionised my life, no word of a lie.

nonperson 16-04-2023 03:42 PM

The Great Inside Out Trick, like duvet cover inside out, find top edges and sort of flip the cover the right way over the duvet OR... the California Roll method which is also inside out but involves rolling?

Cacoethes 16-04-2023 03:51 PM

Rolling??
I am intrigued.
I always use the inside out method

nonperson 16-04-2023 04:02 PM

https://youtu.be/c1IzS2oBBN0

Cacoethes 16-04-2023 04:05 PM

Ohh that's pretty cool!
On a slightly related note, who has a duvet cover with a zip????

tamobhuuta 16-04-2023 04:17 PM

I've got one with a zip! It also happens to be Harry Potter themed. I attempt the inside out trick but still get it wrong. In hospital it was easier because it was smaller and open at the bottom.

one_step_closer 16-04-2023 04:44 PM

I've never heard of the inside out trick. Someone teach me.

I've also never heard of a duvet cover with a zip.

nonperson 16-04-2023 04:52 PM

Yeah inside out is harder with a large duvet but still the easiest way, I think.

Lindsay - https://youtu.be/FzbpdAawx4Y

Pi.R^2 16-04-2023 04:57 PM

No rolling for me, just the classic Inside Out.

nonperson 16-04-2023 05:12 PM

I've done it with massive failure so I don't see why you couldn't do it. Tbh, I don't use it often, only when I feel pissed off with the effort of inside out.

long road 16-04-2023 05:37 PM

I go for inside out if I am doing it my self, but the partner method remains my favourite XD

I think I may still be friends with Iwe the cat on Facebook...

Had a nap and now sorting out my meal plan and online shop.

one_step_closer 16-04-2023 05:45 PM

My duvet seems huge, I might even mess up the inside out method but if I remember I'll give it a go next Sunday. I wish I could use the partner method, could I borrow your partner, Jen? Or maybe I could get my own 'partner' but just to change my bedding and nothing else. No other contact.

Where do you do your online shop, Jen?

long road 16-04-2023 05:59 PM

I would lend my partner but considering you live I think in Scotland and I live in South West England it would be a 7-11 hour journey 1 way to send my partner to Scotland depending on location. Perhaps you can get a duvet changing robot? I am sure the Japanese will have invented one.

We use Tesco as a close relative works there and lets us use their staff discount.

one_step_closer 16-04-2023 06:05 PM

I'll look into a duvet changing robot, thanks for the idea!

Oh that is good getting a discount. Tesco is quite expensive now as are all supermarkets really. Or are Aldi and Lidl sticking with lower prices?

long road 16-04-2023 06:14 PM

Robot is the way to go if you don't want to interact with them. Robots can be put in the cupboard, partners might object!

It's a 10% discount plus clubcard prices (read the old regular prices) and it adds up. Not sure about Aldi and Lidl they don't do delivery or click and collect around here and we find online more convenient. Lidl's bakery section is amazing, partner occassionally does a Lidl bakery run for us as a treat it's only 5 minutes drive.

Cacoethes 16-04-2023 06:15 PM

We don't have duvets here.
Just a sheet and blanket. I don't use the blanket though because it's far too warm in here

I really do fancy giving it a go!

I'm afraid I've got bad news about Iwe the cat...

You ask your partner nicely to change the bedding for you XD

That's ok I suspected as much about Iwe the Cat.

I figured :P

nonperson 16-04-2023 06:33 PM

Oh good. Either way it came across as an encouraging comment, just not so self-deprecating =P

one_step_closer 16-04-2023 06:43 PM

I do like Lidl's bakery. I like the focaccia breads with the toppings and toffee yum yums.

Beckie, do you have a window in your room? A thing about being in hospital that I hate is that I'm usually in a dorm and the other patients usually open all the windows and it's freezing. I have to wear a hoodie on top of my PJs and wait till everyone is asleep to quietly close the windows.

Cacoethes 16-04-2023 06:48 PM

I've never been to a lidl but I've heard good things about their baked goods

Yep there is a window!
Always wide open. I do close it before i go to bed though because i know it'll end up being freezing at like 3am

one_step_closer 16-04-2023 06:51 PM

Oh the simple joy of having control over whether a window is open or closed!

Do you have a nice view from your window? The ward I go to has some nice trees outside that I often just sit and watch for ages if my bed is next to a window.

Cacoethes 16-04-2023 06:55 PM

Indeed!

Not really. Just a road. You do get to hear lots of drama though!

one_step_closer 16-04-2023 06:57 PM

I can't cope with drama in hospital. It upsets/triggers me.

not_so_insig 16-04-2023 07:00 PM

Greetings all. I have been out but my right shoe developed a massive hole so I hobbled along. I am at my parents rn so I will be going home in slippers such is the size of the hole that they're unsavable.

Ahimsa 16-04-2023 07:13 PM

Hey guys!

Oh no! I hope it wasn't raining when you discovered the hole!

Hey Ahimsa!

About to have roast dinner in a little bit. Really looking forward to it.

Ahimsa 16-04-2023 07:20 PM

Ooh yum!!

My littlest cat has come and when I asked her if she had anything to say, she meowed. So I'm passing that on from her.

Pi.R^2 16-04-2023 07:21 PM

Oooh, roast dinner! I need to do one of those soon, it's just such a big undertaking!

Evening Dawn and Beth + cat, how are you?

It was raining Jen but fortunately my feet remained dry.

Very tired, just making a sandwich before going to read the pub quiz at 8. How're you?

Cacoethes 16-04-2023 07:25 PM

It's not hospital drama, it's outside drama. A lot of people walk past.

Ooh a roast! Yummy!
I never have roasts. Doesn't seem like any point cooking one just for me. Work do them though, so maybe I'll pop up for one when I'm out.

Aww hello catto!

Aww I love kitty cats although I couldn't live with one full time with my allergies, they are lovely to visit though. *Meows back*

Phew! That's something, my partner once discovered he had a hole in his shoe because we were out in heavy rain and one of his feet was dry and the other wet, so we looked at his shoes and found the hole.

Sad news about your allergies!

I don't live with one, I live with four! ;)

long road 16-04-2023 07:30 PM

Lots of ninjas!
We have a roast most weeks at least at this time of year. When it gets to summer we don't want the oven on that long! But despite having one most weeks I still consider them a treat, my favourite part is roast potatoes and parsnips.

Sounds like the cats let you live there! With 4 they have to be the ones in charge!

Pi.R^2 16-04-2023 07:32 PM

Please can you tell us a good question from your quiz?

Also I can confirm to the thread that Beth's colourful hair looks stupendous!

Also2, I just burnt the rice for dinner :plain:

Pi.R^2 16-04-2023 07:32 PM

Parsnips are The Worst Jen, so by liking them you also become The Worst.
