Cacoethes 11-02-2023 11:44 AM

Morning!
I'm tired. Had a terrible night's sleep!
And my filling/root canal has fallen out randomly. The tooth was already cracked, now there is just a big hole.

How are you?

tamobhuuta 11-02-2023 12:02 PM

Eep that sounds painful! I am ok, I'm having tea with Mum and Dad. My big sister is coming round later. Are you up to much?

Cacoethes 11-02-2023 12:44 PM

It's not painful luckily.
But i do need to get it sorted.
Unfortunately my dentist is an hour away and the buses are unreliable so I've been putting it off.
I don't have an entire day to set up to call at 8am to maybe get an appointment that day.

Hope you have a nice time.

I had taekwondo this morning and now going to see Jasmine

one_step_closer 11-02-2023 02:38 PM

Hey everyone. How are your days going?

Tired and dental problems, that's not fun Beckie. A big hole in your tooth sounds like you need to get it sorted asap. Can you get a day off work to go? I wouldn't want it to get worse, like infected or something. I hope you're having a nice time with Jasmine.

Sounds like a good day, Tamo. Enjoy. :-)

tamobhuuta 11-02-2023 03:17 PM

How are you osc?

long road 11-02-2023 03:18 PM

You may be able to get an emergency dentist appointment from 111. But don't know if that would be any easier to get to.
Today is shaping up to bead a full English breakfast at home this morning. And our friend is coming round at 2pm to play board games.

tamobhuuta 11-02-2023 03:20 PM

I hope you have fun long road.

not_so_insig 11-02-2023 03:56 PM

Hello all. My friends anniversary card arrived today. I am sitting here waiting for amazon. They're not due for at least another hour so am contemplating washing my hair.

not_so_insig 11-02-2023 05:21 PM

Didn't wash my hair in the end. In fact apart from wasting time random internetting I havent done much since. Been looking at birthday gifts for my brothers birthday which is next month.

one_step_closer 11-02-2023 05:56 PM

I'm not great, Tamo. Thanks for asking though. I'll be alright. How are you?

I hope you enjoy your board games, Jen.

Have you got any ideas of what you might get your brother, Dawn?

Cacoethes 11-02-2023 06:21 PM

My dentist is the emergency dentist. Lol
It's already infected. Has been for a couple of years. Antibiotics won't shift it. Need the tooth out.

I'm waiting for the bus home now.

Hope board games were fun!

Sorry you're not feeling great lindsay

Zurg 11-02-2023 06:36 PM

I had a tooth that was painful for more than a year before i figured out said pain came from a tooth. Dentist tried saving it (it had a crack), tooth Got infected, tooth decided to die and i have never been happier than when my dentist said she was going to pull it!!!! Teeth are handy and all that but man, they are annoying too sometimes!!!! My sympathies Beckie <3 It sounds like it won't be hard for them to pull it so maybe it doesn't take an hour or something as unfortunate as that!!!

I have decided i don't want to bother with teeth anymore so i'll switch to a beak as soon as that is possible….!!!!

Hope you're all okay tonight :)

Cacoethes 11-02-2023 06:43 PM

I think it will probably come out in pieces as there is not much left there.
Had a tooth do that as a kid and they had to dig into the gum to get the root out. Blood everywhere. Thus fostering a massive fear of dentists.
I have a much higher pain threshold nowadays though.

Yeah teeth suck tbh

Hope you're ok too!
I am still waiting for the bus. Should only be another 8 minutes. If on time.

one_step_closer 11-02-2023 07:05 PM

I sometimes have dreams that teeth are pouring out of my mouth, much more teeth than I actually have. I also had to have a tooth out irl because it was painful and I was scared to phone the dentist and by the time I did it had to be taken out.

I hope you can get to the dentist at some point, Beckie. It is important. Are you on the bus now? How was your day?

I'm trying to imagine what it would be like to have a beak.

Zurg 11-02-2023 07:43 PM

Would be awesome, Lindsay. No more tooth brushing, no more flossing, no more cracked teeth :D
We'd happily munch away on seeds and millet spikes forever :)

Busses are stupid too!!! I have an “everything-is-stupid” day

tamobhuuta 11-02-2023 07:54 PM

I want a beak!

Cacoethes 11-02-2023 08:24 PM

Apparently the teeth falling out dream is an extremely common anxiety dream!

Meh. I'll get it sorted at some point. It's annoying when eating so that'll probably spur me on to get it sorted!
My mum has given me the info for her dentist in the same town who is Apparently amazing, as I told her my dentist is **** and rude (the old one was brilliant but she left) so I'm gonna call on monday and hope they're taking nhs patients. Not many are at the moment.

I am home now!
Buses are ok when they are actually reliable!

long road 11-02-2023 09:43 PM

Beaks sound fun Zurg but I think I would miss some of the human food. I am lucky I have pretty good teeth, apart from two of my wisdom teeth not had to have any out, I went to dentist for first time in seven years last year and wa spleasantly surprised I didn't need any work done.

I had great fun playing a board game and catching up with our friend. I won the game too which is a nice bonus. I then cooked dinner entirely on my own, I made spaghetti and meatballs with tomato sauce, I even made the tomato sauce from scratch. And if I say so myself it was very tasty! It was really great to feel well enough to cook, I really enjoy cooking and I have missed it.

I am now chilling on the sofa watching Great British Menu on iPlayer.

Buses are ok if they are a) on time and b) not overcrowded.

What you up to at home Beckie?

Cacoethes 11-02-2023 09:53 PM

Sounds like a good day!

I attempted to cook a pizza but burned it somehow.
So I made a fish finger sandwich instead!
And I had to rescue Pippin because he got stuck in a haycube....i confiscated the haycube and he went around looking for it :eyeroll:

long road 11-02-2023 10:03 PM

It really has been. One of my best days in a long time. Wish I could bottle this feeling for the bad days.

Oh no burnt pizza! I blame the pesky oven, ovens are contrary things. Fish finger sandwich to the rescue!

Silly Pippin XD Was he all the way in or just his head? He clearly needed it confiscating if he was loooking for it immediately after!

Cacoethes 11-02-2023 10:06 PM

Can you make a note of it to look back on?

They are. I hadn't even left it in that long!

He was most of the way in. And then tipped himself over *facepalm*

long road 11-02-2023 10:11 PM

Thats an idea writing about it. I might put something in my routine or symptom record so I see it.

Mine likes to cook things more on the left side that the right so if we don't remember to rotate things half can end up burnt.

*Facepalm* He gets top marks for effort!

Cacoethes 12-02-2023 09:16 AM

That's odd!

Yeah. Need to get some new cubes now. They love to chew them and the hay inside them!

Morning everyone!
I think I have a cold

tamobhuuta 12-02-2023 11:33 AM

Urgh, colds suck.

My big sister is coming round again today, this time with her husband, he's helping with something in the kitchen.

Cacoethes 12-02-2023 12:26 PM

They do indeed!

Hope you have a nice time with your sister!

tamobhuuta 12-02-2023 01:41 PM

Anyone up to anything? I just went through a book I read, recommended by my spiritual director, and noted all the bits I want to talk about.

Cacoethes 12-02-2023 02:10 PM

I had double pilates and went to poundland and aldi.
All I have to do now is spot clean the boys, shower and dye hair. And possibly clean house.
I luckily managed to miss a visit from jehovas witnesses! They put a card through my door.

one_step_closer 12-02-2023 02:36 PM

Afternoon everyone. I hope you're all ok.

You're not one of those people to be all dramatic and do absolutely nothing when you have a cold then, Beckie! You're doing loads of stuff again. I hope you feel better soon. Are you dying your hair a fun colour?

I hope you enjoy your time with your sister, Tamo. When will you be able to talk through the points in your book?

long road 12-02-2023 03:08 PM

Afternoon!

I too wish to know what colour you are dying your hair Beckie!

It's good to be able to discuss books like that Tamo, hope you get to have a good talk with your spiritual director soon.

This morning I repotted my orchid as well as doing my morning routine. This time I did repotting in the garden, despite it being a house plant, as last time I tried to repot a plant in the house I made a very big mess! Glad to have got that done as it's been on my to do list since October when I bought the new pot and orchid compost.

And now I am about to watch the new episode of Australian Survivor on my TV.

You up to anything OSC? I seem to remember this is your bedding change day.

one_step_closer 12-02-2023 03:14 PM

Well done for everything you've managed, Jen. I can imagine the mess you might make potting it indoors! I hope you're enjoying your TV show. What's it about?

Yeah, I changed my bedding after I had my breakfast. I always do it first thing on a Sunday. What a task though with my relatively new duvet. I had a thin one before which was easy to put in the sheet but this one is massive and plump and a workout to get in the sheet! It's nice and warm though.

Cacoethes 12-02-2023 03:41 PM

I am dramatic about many things, but not colds XD

Am dying my hair purple!
Just hoping I have enough dye. I got 2 pots but they are smaller than I remember! I have backup dye in another colour in case it goes wrong. Always a good idea to have backup dye!

Well done for the repotting!

I have also changed my bedding.
I have a thick duvet also and it is a challenge!

long road 12-02-2023 03:51 PM

It's the reality show I mentioned before. The one with challenges and social politics and vote outs but only by the people playing the game. Then at end the people who were voted out in second half of game vote for the winner. It's a bit of a guilty pleasure but I am really enjoying it.

Duvet changing by yourself can be a bit of a wrestling match! New thick one sounds super cosy though.

Ooh purple, I like purple. I'd love to dye my hair but mine is naturally near black so I would have to bleach the hell out of it to get a bright colour. But women in my family tend to go grey early so I will just have to wait a few years!

Cacoethes 12-02-2023 04:04 PM

Ah yeah that'd be tough!
I'm naturally blonde so always been easy.
Though my hair is in terrible condition from dying it so much! Like some of it has just broken off halfway down. But you can't really notice it.

tamobhuuta 12-02-2023 04:08 PM

Well done for everyone's achievements! I'm especially impressed by the putting of the duvet in the case, I'm hopeless at that. I put washing away. Now I'm reading and at 5 I'm going to church.

I'm seeing my spiritual director on Tuesday.

Cacoethes 12-02-2023 04:26 PM

I'm used to it now! You get the hang of it

Well done for putting the washing away!

I've done all my things I think, apart from dying hair. My hair has to be dry for that though.

tamobhuuta 12-02-2023 05:24 PM

I hope the colour takes well.

Cacoethes 12-02-2023 05:25 PM

Thanks!
The dye is on!
I forgot how messy it is!

long road 12-02-2023 05:31 PM

Finger paint the walls! (Or don't it's probably really hard to get out)

Cacoethes 12-02-2023 05:37 PM

It stains!
Don't think my landlord would be too pleased with purple splotches everywhere! And I have an inspection on the 21st

long road 12-02-2023 05:52 PM

Yeah landlords be boring like that. Eurgh to inspections. I am lucky I have a mortgage so don't have a landlord. Though the flat is leasehold so there are stil some things where I have to deal with the building landlord.

one_step_closer 12-02-2023 05:56 PM

Anyone else joining RYL bedding change day?

I'm looking forward to seeing your hair, Beckie. If you post it on fb. Hope it turns out the way you want.

I'm glad you have a show that you enjoy, Jen. Does it come on once a week or have you got lots to watch on a catch up player or something?

You've been doing some good things today, Tamo. I hope you enjoy church.

Cacoethes 12-02-2023 06:21 PM

I'd kinda like to have my own place, but then I'm lucky to have a good landlord and they sort things super fast. And when something is fixed, it gets upgraded. Like when the hob broke, I got a brand new induction hob, when the boiler went, got a brand new boiler that I can turn on with my phone!
If I had my own place, I'd have to fork out for that kinda stuff.
So there are pros and cons!

I have changed my bedding!

Probably will post on fb when it dries!

long road 12-02-2023 07:36 PM

So I caught up on all the old seasons I had missed in the last few weeks. And now I am watching the episodes as they come out which is on Sundays, Mondays and Tuesdays for next 6 weeks. As it's an Australian show it's available around 10am here on the broadcast day as they are 11 hours ahead and it finishes there at 9pm their time.

I didn't really get flat on my own effort, a relative left me enough money for a deposit. That and when I got the mortgage I was earning better than now so got a better deal than I might have otherwise. I like that I can do what I want decoration and structure wise. But renting with a responsive landlord who quickly fixes / replaces things is very good. First month in my own flat the boiler broke and I had to pay for the new one, it was super expensive and in November!

I want to get an induction hob one day, my mum has one and it's really responsive plus safer as doesn't stay hot for as long. But I have to save up to replace the kitchen and fitting a new kitchen is a lot of disruption.

Cacoethes 12-02-2023 07:43 PM

I don't think anyone our age could get a flat on their own effort these days!

Why do boilers always mess up when you need them most?!

I love my induction hob!
I've also noticed that things don't tend to boil over with it too. Idk how that works, but never had anything boil over since i got it.
Yes, a lot of disruption!
When my boiler was replaced, it took them 8 hours. So my kitchen was out of bounds the whole time. That was bad enough! Would be way worse having the kitchen replaced.

long road 12-02-2023 08:50 PM

A sad truth that. Housing prices are ridiculous.

Well my old boiler broke because when I moved in I did the sensible thing and got it serviced. The man servicing it cleaned out all the crud inside the boiler. But it turned out the crud was blocking the holes in the pipes so after he cleaned it the boiler pipes leaked and it broke. *Facepalm*

I am currently in the middle of cooking dinner (well it's simmering on the stove while I sit on the sofa). My partner helped with the chopping but I did it mostly myself

Cacoethes 12-02-2023 09:04 PM

They are!
Even the rental market is insane right now.
Hundreds of people going for each place.
I was VERY lucky that i impulsively put a holding deposit down on my house. I'm 4 min walk from a train station on thameslink. 40 mins into central london. Named best commuter town in the county! I was in the right place at the right time!

Ohhh that's awkward! Sounds like it definitely needed replacing!

Well done!
What are you making?

long road 12-02-2023 10:24 PM

My mortgage + service charge is half the price my upstairs neighbour rents out their flat for! It's silly. Sounds like impulsiveness paid off this time and you got a good place

I made a sausage and root veg stovie ( kind of halfway been a stew and roast veg). Unfortunately got the timing slightly wrong so had to cut off some burnt bits but it was tasty!

Cacoethes 13-02-2023 09:12 AM

Ridiculous!
Yep the impulsiveness definitely helped on this occasion!

Oooh that sounds delicious!

Morning everyone

tamobhuuta 13-02-2023 11:09 AM

Morning. I got up at 9 o clock!!! And washed my hair. I'm getting my ears pierced this afternoon :) also got to do some shopping. Are you up to anything?

not_so_insig 13-02-2023 11:37 AM

Morning all. I am awake early for once. I am having tesco later. See what substitutions await me today.
