Or "night mode" or something. There should be a setting for it.
|
I shall have a look!
|
On my phone it's called blue light filter.
|
Android or iphone, Beckie?
|
On my android phone it;s called Blue Light Filter or Eye Comfort and you can schedule it to come on at certain times. Mine runs from 6pm until 7am with the warmest colour temperature setting.
|
Android
That sounds pretty cool actually! I've given up on sleep and decided to get up |
Android settings should be the same as mine then. I'd have a look if I were you. It might not be the answer but might help.
Getting up is the worst thing you can doooo! I often read in bed until I drop the kindle on my head which is a good indication that I'm tired enough to sleep. |
Actually when I was learning sleep hygiene for the millionth time, they said to get up if you can't sleep!
Haha! Talking of sleep, why are you still up? |
Oh well I stand corrected about the getting up thing then.
I am still up because I am drinking too much and hyperactively browsing the internet. |
Hmmm. That doesn't sound healthy!
|
Pish to healthy.
|
Fair enough!
I'd be a total hypocrite if I tried to lecture you on what was healthy! |
We all have our downfalls.
|
We do indeed!
Like the nhs 111 option 2 guy who recommended a cup of tea and a bath. Oh the cliché! If I had alcohol I'd totally be playing the crisis team drinking game! |
Ugh, tea and bath are bad enough without being recommended as a helpful option.
Should I ask what the crisis team drinking game is? |
I can't even have baths because epilepsy!
It's basically drink everytime they say something ridiculously cliché for them Such as - think positively - use distraction techniques - sleep hygiene -.have a cup of tea - have a bath - go for a walk Etc. It's fun and frustrating at the same time! |
You'd have to ring up many many times in a row to make that a worthwhile drinking game.
|
Depends how many times they repeat themselves! (Usually a lot, this guy said it 4 separate times)
And whether the drinks are dequila shots... |
Hm. I could see that might get messy quickly.
|
Yep! Great fun!
|
|
:-D
I like how there are no adverts on TV at this time in the morning |
I've also just realised it's tequila, not dequila.
I am a terrible bartender XD |
Assumed that was what you meant.
Never tried tequila... as far as I know. |
It's not great
I can't drink it anymore |
Did you do it with the salt and lime? That just makes me think it's going to be bad if you need something before and after the shot.
I've never been good with sprits |
Yep!
It is bad I'm not good with spirits either Unless they are in a cocktail! Or in a shot full of sweet stuff! Like on Christmas eve we had 'squashed frogs' which was grenadine, advocat and watermelon liqueur. Very sweet. Very tasty! |
Just popping in to say hi and cos I figure this is my best chance at finding someone who is also still awake
Beckie, you will hopefully be pleased to know I have NEVER suggested a cup of tea, OR a walk, OR a bath :-p. Apart from twice when the person offered up that those things sometimes help! I find those things are generally suggested by people who don’t know what to suggest and want to document on the notes that they’ve suggested something (but don’t quote me on that ;-p). |
Crisis team are generally split into two types of people, especially at night:
- Those that are rota’d and generally like their jobs and want to help (note these people can also have bad days) - The bank/agency staff who book night/bank holiday shifts cos they are generally quieter and pay a LOT more money. This is, of course, an overgeneralisation but the disparity seems a lot greater out of hours. Also, in many areas the crisis team out of hours are taking 111 calls now due to increased covid demand. Like, not ‘it sounds like it might be mental health related so we will get crisis team to call you back’, but ‘it MIGHT be mental health related so the crisis team will now screen you’. Tbh, it sounds ****ing dangerous and friends I have who work full time for crisis team in areas surrounding London also HATE it! I don’t think this is all areas but it’s certainly becoming more common. |
Morning Emma!
I am very pleased to hear that you have never suggested those things! It is very refreshing to think it's not ALL mh people! I totally understand that people can have bad days. And that's cool. I don't even know if I actually spoke to 111 guy or crisis team. It could be one or the other! I guess it depends on how busy they are maybe? Idk This guy didn't know me which is very unusual lol |
Morning Beckie! I mean- I’m sure you have realised I can be a little blunt :-p, but genuinely have actually been pulled up by ‘old school nurses’ for ‘just talking’. You might be better off trying CPN tomorrow, if she’s not on leave.
|
Oh, and I don’t cover your area :-p. But even if you were, I’d have to ‘hand you over’ to somebody else :-p
|
Beckie- HALP! Are buses back to normal today??
|
Maybe just a little blunt :tongue2:
Just talking would probably have been helpful! I was going to attempt to contact cpn. She was going to call on Friday anyway but that seems rather far away! But if she's on leave tomorrow then I'll live! Haha! I can imagine it would be a little awkward if you did cover my area :tongue2: I don't see why they wouldn't be! They were even running on Christmas eve in my area which was quite odd |
Just checked my local bus and it's running today on a normal timetable!
Tbh the only non normal timetable it has is Sunday times which = no buses at all |
Hey! At least you know it’s my honest opinion :-p
Tbh, I don’t even know what day of the week it is. Christmas screws everything up! Aside from trying to call CPN, what are you doing today/tomorrow? (Unless I’ve slept or it is gone 7am, I still count it as tomorrow!) |
Thanks re buses. Got a five year pass when my licence was suspended a few years ago due to mentals- it hasn’t expired yet but I also haven’t had to use it for three years or so
|
I do definitely prefer an honest opinion!
Especially when it's fair like you usually are! I know what you mean! I have an amazon delivery coming. That's it! I would have had work if it wasn't for the 'rona. But seeing as I haven't slept at all and only slept a couple of hours the previous night/morning, it's probably good that I don't have work! It's good you've still got a pass! Buses are expensive these days! Have you got plans? |
I have been crazy busy since the 22nd. I hosted a pre christmas party on 23rd (everyone required to do laterals before, although tbh most have to for work anyway). Did an anonymous Santa drop and lots of running around 24th. Hosted 14 Christmas Day and cooked (nobody has died thus far), then christmas with my dad 26th and my step mum 27th (long story). Today I did NOTHING though and slept more in one night than in the previous four or five combined! Then randomly went to a friends house and got very intoxicated .
Tomorrow, I know I’m supposed to be doing something. I just can’t remember what day/time I’ve agreed to see different people. I had extended family over from America. I think I’m taking them to British Costco and the gaming shop. But I also have the main body of my dissertation due next week- argggghh! |
Have not started the main body of my dissertation. This is a problem :-p
|
Eeeesh!
That is a great deal of things! I do not know how you can deal with all that! Yeah...that does sound like a problem! |
I mean, if you want to volunteer to write it for me, you would be more than welcome :-p
|
I totally would!
Unfortunately my cognitive abilities have declined so much in recent years I struggle to read a single page of basically anything and retain the information! So you probably wouldn't want me doing it :tongue2: |
It’s a literature review and really structured- that’s the problem! I know roughly what my recommendations are etc, but I HATE the structured research analysis. It’s on whether or not addiction recovery models such as AA can be applied to adult self harm.
I think you should do some upcycling! Like, pick a piece of YOUR furniture and upcycle it whilst you’re isolating |
That sounds both interesting and complicated!
That would be pretty good tbh! My sofa could defo do with some upcycling! Wouldn't even know where to start though! |
Maybe start with something like a table :-p. You’ve got time! When does your isolation finish?
|
I have my little side table I could try and do something with!
It finishes on Monday! Obviously assuming I test negative then! Which I will do |
Order some PVA glue or some paint stuff and use some of the time to start planning the side table :-D
|
It's not really paintable material though.tbh
I can't remember what the name of it is but it's shiny like laminate floors but it's not that! Lol I must have SOMETHING i can modify! My body has been trying to sneeze for 2 hours but still nothing! Most annoying! |
Sounds like it might be time to paint a feature wall :-p
