Cacoethes 02-11-2021 11:36 AM

Yoga sounds good!

I'm ok.
Not much going on really!

tamobhuuta 02-11-2021 11:37 AM

I used to do yoga with my sister.

nonperson 02-11-2021 11:39 AM

Working today, Beckie?

Why don't you do it any more, tamo?

tamobhuuta 02-11-2021 11:44 AM

I was more concerned with my fitness than bendiness. So I took up a combination of jogging and stretching. For which I now have zero motivation.

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 11:47 AM

No work today or tomorrow!

I wish I could jog. Sadly, my ankles and knees won't cope with it!

tamobhuuta 02-11-2021 11:49 AM

Have you ever swam? I hate water but I understand some people enjoy it.

nonperson 02-11-2021 11:50 AM

Maybe doing some gentle yoga will help kick start some motivation, seeing as it doesn't have to take a lot of effort?

nonperson 02-11-2021 11:51 AM

Ninja posting.

I love running - it makes me feel free but my lungs cannot cope with it at all.

I also love being in water... but can't go swimming any more.

tamobhuuta 02-11-2021 11:52 AM

Maybe, I will give that some thought.

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 12:01 PM

I used to swim nearly every day!
But can't afford the membership anymore.

tamobhuuta 02-11-2021 12:07 PM

That's a shame :(

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 12:08 PM

It is
I love swimming

nonperson 02-11-2021 12:09 PM

Ah that really sucks. I was wondering if you were going to start swimming again.

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 12:22 PM

Yeah. It's annoying

Work have just posted in the group chat that they've lit the fire!

one_step_closer 02-11-2021 12:27 PM

So you can all just huddle around the fire and do no work?

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 12:30 PM

Haha!
Yep!

tamobhuuta 02-11-2021 12:36 PM

Ooo a fire! I'm looking forward to winter when we will have a fire.

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 12:42 PM

A fire always makes things cosier!

one_step_closer 02-11-2021 12:44 PM

The crackling of the logs (if they are used) :-D

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 12:59 PM

Oh yes!

It is a log fire.
And we're responsible for keeping it topped up throughout the day.
One staff member has already been warned against messing with it lol

nonperson 02-11-2021 01:08 PM

Oooh I love fire.

I think I'd be terrified to have one in my house though.

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 01:10 PM

Me too np

I'm already worried about having one at work!
Luckily I don't really do opening so at least I won't ever have to light it. Just maybe chuck a log on there every once in a while

nonperson 02-11-2021 01:21 PM

You'll be alright, give it a poke to rekindle the flames first and just don't put too many logs on at once!

I seemed to be in charge of bonfires at work last winter. Starting them is the hardest bit! Or maybe I'm just not very skilled at it. =P

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 01:32 PM

Good advice!

I think starting them is meant to be pretty difficult!

one_step_closer 02-11-2021 02:33 PM

I've only lit a small fire during one of those outdoor course things.

nonperson 02-11-2021 02:36 PM

It's not so bad with newspaper or kindling... and if the stuff is dry... and if someone has a lighter. Making a spark from scratch is very hard!

Did you make the spark from nothing, Lindsay?

one_step_closer 02-11-2021 02:42 PM

I think I used the metal thing that you scratch against another piece of metal?

nonperson 02-11-2021 02:44 PM

Ah yep, I dunno how people do that. I haven't got the knack at all.

one_step_closer 02-11-2021 02:48 PM

It takes forever. Not a skill I'd like to have to use again. Indoor controlled fires are better than outdoor fires although I'd still be scared because I'm afraid of fire.

nonperson 02-11-2021 02:55 PM

No it's not a skill many people have to use. An interesting one none the less. Fire is definitely scary. I prefer fire outside... and kinda like watching it out there because it's a safe place to see how powerful and energetic an element it is. And the noise and the warmth. I dunno.

one_step_closer 02-11-2021 03:00 PM

Will you be going to/building any bonfires on guy Fawkes day or any other day during the winter?

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 03:05 PM

I both like fire and am afraid of it!

shadow-light 02-11-2021 03:19 PM

how be people today?

I FINALLY got my first covid jab last night. I may have had a bit of a pnaic attack in the queue, but the volunteer noticed and took me in the the building via the back door and sat me in my own corner behind a screen.
A nurse then came to check on me, she was really nice and didn't even moan about my stimming nor that I was having to communicate by writing stuff down.

After I had calmed down they gave me the jab, ad I didn't panic over being touched - part of why it's taken me so long to go (plus the whole agoraphobia thing)

today my arm is killing me :hehe: but at least it's done

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 03:33 PM

Well done Hazel!
That was really brave

shadow-light 02-11-2021 04:10 PM

wish it hadn't taken me like a year :ermm: but meh least it happened in the end. not looing forward to having to do it all again in 8 weeks though

especially as 8 weeks is christmas...

ye... 8 weeks till chirstmas... how scary is that? Where did 2021 go?

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 04:11 PM

Oh nooo not Christmas!! D:

nonperson 02-11-2021 04:22 PM

Well done Hazel. I agree that was very brave! At least you'll know what to expect next time and that you managed it this time.

Christmas... ugh.

And Lindsay - I won't be building any bonfires for firework night and I won't be able to get close enough to the one at the firework event here on Friday (not paying to go in when I can watch the fireworks from my house and don't want to socialise with the people there, lol). We'll probably have a fire at work at some point though.

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 04:30 PM

I'm not particularly fussed about fireworks
I'll probably be able to see lots from my house though

that would be my feelings :hehe:

i dont hate christmas as such, I am just meh to it... I do hate how others seem to want to force me to engage with it though :eyeroll:

nonperson 02-11-2021 04:44 PM

^ Same.

It seems too forced and unnatural, but people buy into it because they think they HAVE to.

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 04:44 PM

The only thing I like about it is how excited jasmine gets!

And just like that, work have just posted pics of the Christmas display they've started....

shadow-light 02-11-2021 04:45 PM

that's kind of my issue too, it just feels forced and fake... but when I voice this I get shouted at

I gguess its different if you have kids because then you're sort of doing it for them.

shadow-light 02-11-2021 04:46 PM

the other year the boyfriends mum got annoyed that I dont celebrate christmas and when I said that I'm not christian so why would I she got really annoyed and yelled "what's christianity got to do with it?"

I gave up the conversation after that...

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 04:52 PM

I wouldn't mind working Christmas day if it wasn't for Jasmine!

Oh dear :/

nonperson 02-11-2021 04:56 PM

Well tbh I think for most people Christmas generally has nothing to do with Christianity.

I went to a pub once on Christmas day - it was really quiet!

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 05:06 PM

We've been fully booked for Christmas day for months!
And have a long waiting list!

nonperson 02-11-2021 05:07 PM

Do you have to book just to go in for drinks?

We didn't have food, just popped in for a pint before Christmas dinner at home.

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 05:15 PM

No but we still serve food in the bar area so it will be absolute carnage! Like on a Sunday

We did that a couple of Christmases ago at the family's local. It was packed!

one_step_closer 02-11-2021 06:32 PM

Very well done Hazel, you are amazing.

I always have a quiet Christmas, just me and my brother at home. Although he didn't come last year because of Covid. I don't mind Christmas on my own though, prefer it actually.

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 06:35 PM

I spent one Christmas alone
It was a very depressing day!
Jasmine was still in care. So I spent the day in tears, drinking vodka out of the bottle and ate tomato soup out of the tin. Lol
And last Christmas in hospital wasn't great either.

But it all depends on the person!
