at the moment claims are taking up to 18 months (rather than the usual 3-4 months) so it's not very motivating to actually get stuff done. everyone has an automtic extention of 3 months to get stuff sent in too because of covid making things take longer

and I'm not great arounf humans at the moment so if I'm honest I'm kind of scared

Cacoethes 15-04-2021 01:05 PM

Oh wow! I didn't know that!

Yeah most other humans suck.

shadow-light 15-04-2021 01:08 PM

ye it's rediculous... and thats not taking into account if you have to go to appeal... I was speaking to someone on facebook yesterday who applied in jan last year and only had their phone assesment in feb this year. They got their report back yesterday of zero points... they've been told that the appeal process will probably take another year :O

honestly starting to wonder if it's worth the effort

and ye, people suck. esspecially recently as think they are all a bit over excited about covid restrictions lessening

Cacoethes 15-04-2021 01:13 PM

That's awful!
I applied in November last year and they've only just contacted my cpn for info which doesn't sound like it's a bad wait in comparison!

It is worth the effort. You deserve to get it.

Yep! I haven't witnessed it first hand but I've seen pictures on Facebook of people queuing to get into primark!

shadow-light 15-04-2021 01:18 PM

i used to get DLA way back, when it switched to PIP I went thought the proccess and got zero points. ANd then became homeless  so long story short I didn't appeal :P

People have been telling me to apply again for ages but been too scared of the process as the stress made me really ill last time. Doesn't help that I'm being bounced from team to team right now so have no professionas to get evidence from :wow:

oh the primark pictures!!! I really don't get it... people have lasted most of a year, surely they could wait another week until the excitment died down

Cacoethes 15-04-2021 01:21 PM

Ugh that's awful!
I'm not surprised it's stressing you out.

I guess those with kids would definitely need primark because kids grow sooo quickly and primark is good for cheap clothes. As for adults just going in for socks or whatever yeah, they should have waited!

shadow-light 15-04-2021 01:30 PM

i'm starting to think that a good chunk of orangie is the new black is basically soft core porn...

i was about to go to the postoffice but my car battery is dead  so now it's on charge

Cacoethes 15-04-2021 01:50 PM

It basically is. So is game of thrones!

Oh no!

shadow-light 15-04-2021 01:59 PM

fair point... but in GoTs the sex scenes were kind of politically important :P

then again i've mainly done the books rather than the TV show so guess the sex bits werent as noticiable

I could walk to the post office, it's only 5 miles... but harder to avoid all the humans that way

Cacoethes 15-04-2021 02:08 PM

That is true!

I wish i had the concentration for the books!

Ah yes. It is tough.

nonperson 15-04-2021 02:40 PM

I found the first book confusing because of how many characters there were to keep track of.

Cacoethes 15-04-2021 03:10 PM

There are a lot of characters!

I very naively thought 'oh this is a main character, they won't kill him off so early surely?'
Next episode, head cut off

tamobhuuta 15-04-2021 03:13 PM

GoT has never really appealed to me. Fantasy wise I like Lord of the Rings, books and films.

Cacoethes 15-04-2021 03:18 PM

LotR is awesome

nonperson 15-04-2021 03:20 PM

Lol Beckie. I think everyone thought the same thing!

GoT is like a much more violent and disturbing version of LotR.

Cacoethes 15-04-2021 03:24 PM

Oh how wrong i was! :p.

It is!

Audiobooks were a game changer

Cacoethes 15-04-2021 03:31 PM

I keep meaning to try audiobooks!

tamobhuuta 15-04-2021 04:07 PM

I love audio books. I've got all the Harry Potters but at the moment I'm listening to A Discovery of Witches. I have to fast forward the 'adult' moments though. TMI!

Cacoethes 15-04-2021 04:34 PM

I've heard that's good tamo

[Luna] 15-04-2021 05:37 PM

I really struggle to concentrate on audio alone but also don't have the concentration for books. I think thats why I've got so into films as an adult.

Also, hi again x

shadow-light 15-04-2021 05:56 PM

i listen to audiobooks while running or walking. I just cannot sit still long enough for books or films so it's perfect for me. Only time I can watch a film is on the treadmil too.

however, the narrators voice and style have to be right

Cacoethes 15-04-2021 06:03 PM

Hi again Luna!

An audio book could help me chill out a bit

shadow-light 15-04-2021 06:20 PM

i got an audible account last year, with that I get one book a month. But I alos discovered "borrowbox" recently which lonks to your local library basically and you can borrow audiobooks through it so now can do like 2 books a month :P

nonperson 15-04-2021 06:33 PM

Beckie, I have bootlegs of the Harry Potter and LotR audio books and will send them to you if someone can help me figure out how to send lots of large files?

Also I'd need to find them. Think they're on my old old laptop still!

shadow-light 15-04-2021 06:33 PM

only way i know to send large files is onedrive if that helps

nonperson 15-04-2021 06:35 PM

It might do, thanks =P

Cacoethes 15-04-2021 06:40 PM

That would be great np if you could!

nonperson 15-04-2021 06:44 PM

I'll see what I can dig up later!

Sat in Tesco car park at the moment... >.<

Cacoethes 15-04-2021 06:45 PM

Thanks :)

Oh no! The dreaded food shop again?

nonperson 15-04-2021 08:04 PM

Yep. It was postponed from last Saturday because of the last minute crazy evening work schedule and then pure laziness for the last two days but it's done now.

Cacoethes 15-04-2021 08:12 PM

Well done!

nonperson 15-04-2021 08:15 PM

Thanks. I drove around and around the area for ages before even parking up. Bleh.

Got my old beast laptop from 2007 out. Always forget how HUGE it is!

nonperson 15-04-2021 08:16 PM

And slow... :plain:

nonperson 15-04-2021 08:54 PM

I'm doing technical wizardry right now (all for you Beckie!) and there's no one around to witness it!

nonperson 15-04-2021 09:09 PM

Alright! Beckie, your choices are - Harry Potter, LotR, the Silmarillion (if you want to be bored and confused to beyond description) OR the Percy Jackson books. I found and have transferred them all and will figure out a way to upload them if you let me know what you want to start with. =D

Cacoethes 15-04-2021 09:23 PM

Oooh thank you!
LotR please if you can!

nonperson 15-04-2021 09:24 PM

Oh there you are =P

I'll see what I can do! Will PM you with a link or something.

nonperson 15-04-2021 09:25 PM

Oh and the Hobbit is there too, if that changes anything.

 that description amused me

Full disclosure: it took my 4 read through to get my head round it all and who was who and what happened when

nonperson 15-04-2021 10:38 PM

I started listening to it on audio book many years ago and got so confused and had to keep rewinding chapters that I finally gave up!

My original description was "bored and confused to death" but I thought that was in appropriate ;-) if not wholy inaccurate!

shadow-light 16-04-2021 09:10 AM

ye some books are better in audio than others, Silmarillion is not one of the good ones for that format

nonperson 16-04-2021 09:34 AM

I think my mum has a paper copy of it. I should ask to borrow it and try again.

Another thing audiobooks are good for is the pronunciation of some of the names though.

How're you this morning, Hazel? (Is it ok to use your name on the forums?)

shadow-light 16-04-2021 09:46 AM

oh, yes they are great for pronunciation :P to be honest I don't do much fiction. Most of my audiobooks are science or psychology based so the pronunciation aspect is great

Ye I'm ok with name being used. I'm not too bad today, got awful reflux, but otherwise ok. How are you?

nonperson 16-04-2021 10:01 AM

Glad you're ok despite the reflux. =/

I'm alright... feel a bit rough but I've got until 3pm to build up to being a functioning human being.

Any plans for today?

shadow-light 16-04-2021 10:22 AM

got a job centre phonecall at 11, currently all my energy is going on not freaking out over that  then got to go food shopping this afternoon. So nothing interesting

What you got happening at 3 (if it's ok to ask)?

nonperson 16-04-2021 10:41 AM

Eep, good luck with the phone call. Food shopping is interesting depending on what you buy. =P

Of course it's ok to ask - work is happening at 3... =(

tamobhuuta 16-04-2021 10:52 AM

Hi np and shadow. My news is that I drooled a lot in my sleep. Attractive I know.

I'm currently reading one paperback and one ebook.

Cacoethes 16-04-2021 11:03 AM

Morning everyone!

tamobhuuta 16-04-2021 11:04 AM

Hi Cacoethes, how are you?
