I love pumpkin/butternut soup. Pumpkin and chorizo or thai pumpkin.
Cut the pumpkin/squash in half and microwave it for a bit and then it's easy to chop! I've got three tiny pumpkins that I might turn into soup. They're the sort most people would stuff and roast but I dunno what I'd stuff them with. Feel like I've said pumpkin far too many times in this post. >.> |
Pumpkin is also delicious!
Especially in a pie! My nanny said to put it in the oven to soften it but I will try microwave if I ever buy a butternut squash again! Pumpkin soup would be good Now you've made me say it too many times! :p |
It's a word I don't mind saying too many times. =D
Bloody hell, a delivery driver just knocked on my door and scared the sweet bejesus out of me. |
It's a fun word to say!
Oh I hate it when they do that! |
I'm never sure whether to answer the door after dark here because it's literally just me and my neighbour and no one else around.
This guy had done a knock and run anyway so it was fine. |
I don't answer the door when it's dark usually but have to now the carers come at night :plain:
That's good! |
We had a parcel delivered the other day, it made such a racket, it scared me!
|
I had an package come today but it fitted through the letterbox.
|
Speaking of parcels, I need to start Christmas shopping...
|
I'm deliberately not shopping until 25th November.
|
Ugh, Christmas shopping... >.<
|
I usually do it earlier tbh but I've been so broke lately!
I agree np. The only things I enjoy buying are things for Jasmine because children know what they want!! |
In my experience, siblings are easy to buy for.
|
We don’t answer the door anymore either becaise our neighbour (who is addicted to heroin) mooches stuff off of us all the time. Usually inconsequential things like lighters etc, but he has asked to piggy back off our wifi, for food and money before. We eventually had to get the council to speam to him.
|
I always leave it to the last minute. Can never think of what to get people, even the little people because they have so much stuff already.
|
Alison, that's horrible. =/
|
Its ok np, he seems to have gotten the message but I always lock V and the cats in the flat in the mornings just incase! I’m hoping to buy my own house soon too.
I asked little L (nearly 3) what he wanted for Christmas and he said a dinosaur so I bought him a ride on one with half me and half mummy. |
My siblings don't know what they want!
Kids always do tend to have waaay too much stuff! Jasmine just wants a phone with a sim card. Which she is not getting! Apparently all her friends have one (they don't) It's so horrible to feel like that in your own flat Alison. I experienced similar in a supported housing I was in A ride on dinosaur sounds really cool! |
I hope he has got the message, it's not nice feeling unsafe in your own place. New house though, awesome. =)
Ride on dinosaur sounds very cool indeed. |
How old would Jasmine have to be before you gave her a phone, Beckie? I was 16 when I got my first phone, so were my brother and sister.
|
My parents thought 16 was old enough for me to have a phone, but also because I was going off to college. Most of my friends already had one by then!
|
Most of my friends already had one too, but they were insistent that I was to wait. Thinking about it, I would maybe give a child of mine a phone earlier, but not much earlier and I agree that 8 is way too young!
|
We got phones when we went to secondary school. So 11 years old. Only because the school was a little while away and obviously at secondary school they don't release you to your parents, you are left to your own devices so may need to get in contact with parents.
|
I used the pay phone to call my parents!
|
I didn't really need to get in touch with my parents because my dad worked away from home and I was left in the house on my own with my brother when I was in high school. My sister went to a childminder, but N and I were allowed to stay in. the house after school by ourselves for an hour until mum and H came home.
Mainly because N is the most boring and sensible person I've ever met, but still :P |
I think even in my school days pay phones were a thing of the past!
I don't think there was even an old one near the school either! There was literally no way for us to get home unless my mum took us. Because my family always *have* to live in the most inaccessible villages :eyeroll: |
I love where I grew up, just down the road from my dads house you can sit on the beach and watch the dolphins. You can also go on boat trips out to sea to see them, although only in the summer.
|
I got a phone in year 8. Nokia 3310. I was jealous of my sister's 3330.
|
I'm sure pay phones were still around then!
I mostly just had to ring home because I'd forgotten my PE kit. The house was about a mile away so quick to walk (or for my mum to walk >.>) |
That sounds lovely Alison!
I had a Samsung I think. Was the first out of my family and friends to have a camera phone! They probably were np but none near my school! Haha! My mum would kill me if she had to drive to drop off my pe kit :p |
Dolphins. =o!!
|
I was always forgetting things. In the end, my mum wrote me a list of everything I had to take with me to school haha, and I HAD to go through it every morning with her there so she wouldn't get any phonecalls at work ha.
One of my favourite memories of my mum is that list, I still use it to this day (although an edited version of it as I've gotten older). |
I think mine was a 3310 as well, Tamo. =)
|
Aww that's sweet Alison
I always wanted a 3310 Because you could get sooo many cool cases for it! And snake!!! |
That's a nice memory, Alison. Glad it's still helpful to this day!
Yeah I had a bright blue case and snake. =P |
I miss how you could drop a Nokia and it would scatter into a million pieces and you could pick it up and just pop it all right back together.
Now they stay in one piece but the effing screen smashes >.< |
I can't remember what my first phone was. I think it was a 3310, because it definitely had snake on it. We should have a snake contest on the arcade!
|
Nokias were indestructible!
Snake was the best. We should Alison! |
The screen of my phone is fine, but the back is smashed. Not so that its obvious though.
I think I’m due a new phone soon actually... |
I have a case that protects both the front and back
Useful because I often accidentally yeet my phone across the room Ooo new phone! What do you think you'll get? |
Something really simple that just phones and texts I think. I pay £50a month for my phone and it just isn’t worth it for what I use it for.
|
Fair enough. That is a lot to be paying if you don't use it
I'm off to bed. Night night everyone! |
Good morning to anyone who is up. My mum made madeleines and they were delicious. I'm determined to get dressed today.
|
Morning tamo
Good luck with getting dressed! My cpn double booked me for my depot so I have to wait. I knew I shouldn't have trusted him when he said 'come at the same time and I'll look in the diary later and call you if someone has that time' |
Morning everyone. Was busy in here yesterday evening!
What's madeleines? Do you have some comfy clothes that you can wear? What happens with getting your depo now Beckie? Why are MH services such a mess? |
Morning lindsay. It was!
I just have to wait. It's not mental health services that are a mess. It's my cpn! Actually mental health services are a mess too |
Wait today or wait longer?
|
I've got loungewear :) Madeleines are little cakes
|
Loungewear is perfectly ok to wear. Do you need to go out today?
|
I'm about to go in now finally!
Lounge wear is good! |
