I just read 'A Grief Observed' by C.S. Lewis. It's quite moving, worth a read.

I'm reading 'Somebody Somewhere' by Donna Williams and 'Frost in May' by Antonia White. Enjoying both but not far into either yet.

I finished my big book of Philip K. Dick short stories; although Imposter and Second Variety were a little clichéd in terms of plot, and Faith of Our Fathers was a bit of a 1984 rip-off, the rest were very original and all of them (including the three mentioned here) were, philosophically speaking, fascinating. They're also high-octane paranoia-fuel, which is only to be expected from a schizophrenic author who wrote (at least partly) as a form of therapy.

Now it's about time I got around to reading The Fountainhead by Ayn Rand. I've been putting it off for a while. She's such a militant capitalist that I'm honestly surprised it wasn't printed on $100 bills, or the skins of communists she beat to death with her own ego and sense of moral outrage (or with a copy of Atlas Shrugged, whichever is bigger).

Jodi Picoult and Cathy Glass seem popular around here. I've only read one book by each author so I can't judge too much, but I'm not a big fan of either of their writing styles.

Was thinking about reading House Rules by Jodi Picoult because my brother has Aspergers, and the main character in this does. But I'm not sure.


Reading "The Road Home" by Rose Tremain and I like it a lot. Its much better than "Trespass" even though that was quite good too. Theres more a storyline. Its about an immigrant, and though I don't know how that feels, so I can't say how accurate it is, she seems to write about it very well. Bit of a cliched happy ending. But lovely book.

Just started, but already enjoying 'A Madman's Tale' by John Katzenbach. Resonates with me. :)

Started Her Fearful Symmetry (by the author of Time Travellors Wife). Nice gentle easy read. Ghost story, but its more about the people and their relationships than anything supernatural (kind of like Lovely Bones).

Making me want to read Time Travellers Wife next.

I just finished "Broken" by Karin Fossum. The book is about an author who visualizes her invented characters queuing in front of her house and waiting for their stories to be told.
One day one of her characters comes into her house and demands that he is the next in line as he fears that his story will never be told otherwise. So the author begins to write his story and he is so real for her, that he comes to visit her regularly after she has written another part of his story.
The story itself is about the character, Alvar Eide, who is a middle-aged man without friends or family and totally unable to socialise until a young heroin-addict forces her way into his life.

The best about this book is that the author has several problems herself, being depressed and hiding in her work as she doesn't want to face the real world. So you have quiet a bit of insight into her life as well.

So I would recommend it, although it might be triggering for addicts and everyone with suicidal thoughts.

im reading the gun seller by hugh laurie at the moment. going through a fry and laurie phase and finally got round to buying it. i wasnt sure what it was going to be like but im hooked and almost finished started yesterday.

Reading Hunger by Knut Hamsun and loving it, also finished Beloved, Toni Morrison, love her style.

I think i've read that and I enjoyed it.

The Girl in the Mirror - Cathy Glass.
It was really interesting and not like her other books I've read.

reading Remains of the Day by Ishiguro still. Also almost finished White Teeth, which is a bloody brilliant book! It's potentially one of the best books I've read in a long time, if not forever. Really enjoying it.

Just finished Tell No One by Harlan Coben, which I bought completely on a whim on Amazon as it was only £2..!
Pretty alright actually, very twisty turny.

Just finished Slaughterhouse Five by Kurt Vonnegut and The Graveyard Book by Neil Gaiman yesterday. Onto Catcher In The Rye by J.D. Salinger, and Spook by Mary Roach now!

Just finished More Than Meets The Eye for my course, and am reading King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table for pleasure.

I neeeeed to finish my exams because then I can start Rome - M. C. Scott. It looks interesting enough.
& to finish Alone in Berlin by Hans Fallada.

I've just finished Have You Seen Her? by Karen Rose.
It was amazing.

Now I'm reading the BFG.
