Standing room only on trains sucks. Glad it was only a short journey. I did 2 and half hours on a standing room only train. I had a booked seat but there was nowhere I could have safely put my suitcase and no way to get to my seat through crowd with said suitcase. I perched on my suitcase in the bit by the doors at the end of the carriage.

Public transport sucks

Yep. And it costs too much per ticket.
Although it doesn't have to suck this country just doesn't have the right amount of public transport plus old infrastructure and a lack of drivers because the companies were relying on overtime work rather than training more drivers. Plus rail is run for profit and not adequately subsidised by the government.

For example in Europe they have double decker trains which means more capacity without need for additional drivers but those wouldn't fit in tunnels from the 1800's and would be too heavy for a lot of the older railway bridges.

And building new routes that could handle faster or double decker trains is really expensive because we don't have much space and so to squeeze in a railway you have to divert roads, tunnel under ancient woodlands and pay a lot to purchase land for the track to run through. And again less land means land is worth more. Whereas in Europe they can go around more of the obstacles as they have more space so more options. Plus a newer rail network in general (although a lot of that is because if the devastation caused to rail networks in western europe during WW1 and Ww2 which is not something anyone wants)

Sorry to ramble, as a civil engineer I have strong opinions on trains and railways

Trains here are only every hour because of the overtime ban, which doesn't help!

Except for when i don't. Then i hate them!!!
But i have a love/hate relationship with every kind of transport device, really… Being able to get around is quite handy. But there's always the people thing. People being too close, people being too loud or just to people-y
But nothing matches my intense hatred for planes!!!! Ack!! They are TERRIBLE!!! Too crowded, too smelly, too loud and you can't just get up and get off when it becomes unbearable. I am NOT a fan of planes!!! >:(

I too love trains but not always the people on trains. You will just have to win the lottery so you can travel on private planes and in a chauffeur driven car Zurg! I would say get a private train but only person I know of having a private train carriage was the Queen. Private transport means the only people there are yours to order about XD

I hear you on planes the no (safe) way off until the end of the flight can be a bit much. Especially if you get stuck with a bad seat mate or a middle seat. Luckily for me I have only flown alone a couple of times so usually I can use my travel companion(s) as a buffer from the other people's!!

I will take the eurostar if possible though. Much quicker and more comfortable!

And Eurostar is more climate friendly too! My brother usually gets the night train from where he lives in central Europe to Belgium and then gets the Eurostar over to London in the morning having slept on the train.

I sort of slept last night. Didn't sleep until sometime after 2am and woke up a few times through the night. Had to sleep propped up on 3 pillows to stop my lungs complaining.

Being propped up is not the most comfortable way to sleep my neck is not happy this morning. Sort of sleep is definitely better than no sleep. That said I am pretty ired, now I have done all my meds I am considering attempting a nap.

I had two mini naps of about half an hour each. Woken up each time because my asthma isn't happy so as tired as I am going to give up on napping for now.

Been to Sports Direct to get new shoes since my current ones have holes in them. Chose black Nike high tops but the guy brought white low tops then black low tops and I didn't want to say it's the high tops I wanted so I just took what he brought. They're fine though. Done a washing and hoovering.

I plan on spending the afternoon on my couch, with tv and multiple devices to keep me occupied or maybe even entertained.
I was okay for most of the trip downtown but i reached my limit after an hour and after a very tiny grocery shopping at the parcel Pick up point. I did not approve!!! The only had self scanning machines available. And mine freaked out when i attempted to place a small package of yeast on it after i had scanned it. The other groceries were fine but god forbid you attempt to buy AND bring home a piece of yeast…..
I feel more safe and happy back in my flat. Findus accepted cuddles but only because i offered him pea flakes and a piece of carrot. Love is expensive!!!

I sometimes find it weird that bunnies are such silent animals. Like, if they actually make a Sound, that's a pretty bad sign!!! But Findus is big enough that i can hear him running across the flat. Even though his paws are furry, he can't sneak up on me like a Ninja!!!

I hope you can stay awake without feeling totally drained, Jen. I recommend a cup of chamomile tea to relax!!!

Was offered a shift tonight but I'm doing taekwondo instead.
