I'm very sad, I've just spent 3 hours crying with my favourite clients putting their dog to sleep - they asked me to be there and also to stay afterwards so I've only just got home. I'm not actually working today.

A standard day we see 80-120 clients, (6 people consulting, between 8am-7pm apart from breaks and admin time, 4 consults an hour) depending how many vets we have in, so for them to have this much impact is a big thing.

one_step_closer 25-11-2023 04:50 PM

That does sound so hard, Beth. I'm sorry. *hugs if ok* It was kind of you to be there for them.

Ahimsa 25-11-2023 05:06 PM

It was very hard - I'm not even a vet! I'm just a receptionist!

How is everyone else doing?

Oh that sounds so hard and it's so lovely of you to give up your time to be there for them. I'm sure that kindness will stay with the family for a long time. When our Millie (chinchilla) was finally defeated we had an amazing vet and I know that experiences with veterinary staff of all descriptions can make such an impact at the trickiest times.

Oh J I'm so sorry to hear about your girl <3

I would have hidden my post, had I known how to on my phone!!

one_step_closer 25-11-2023 07:28 PM

Are you looking after yourself, Beth?

*hugs for Jenna too*

Ahimsa 25-11-2023 07:34 PM

I am trying to, yeah.

I've got a list of things to do tonight that need to be done (such as fix my costume for my show tomorrow!, and feed my friends cat as she's away for the night, but then yes it will be a cosy quiet evening for me.

How is everyone else? What've you been up to?

one_step_closer 25-11-2023 07:51 PM

Does much need done on your costume? Hope the show goes well.

I've not been doing anything exciting.

Ahimsa 25-11-2023 07:52 PM

Nothing a glue gun can't fix!

Have you had a cosy day OSC? It's so cold outside.

long road 25-11-2023 07:53 PM

I fell asleep again. Feels a bit like I have wasted the day. But not much I can do about it.

Watching some classic doctor who now and planning to watch new doctor who special after dinner (it's currently on live)

one_step_closer 25-11-2023 07:54 PM

Be sure not to glue your fingers to anything or to each other!

I was out to pick up my prescription in the morning but have been at home since with a blanket and put the heating on at points.

one_step_closer 25-11-2023 07:55 PM

Hi, ninja Jen.

You've had a lot going on with your parents visiting. Hope you enjoy the new Doctor Who. What's for dinner?

Ahimsa 25-11-2023 07:56 PM

Hey LR,

Resting is not wasting time.
Resting is looking after yourself. <3

pixiedust_11 25-11-2023 08:03 PM

Hi everyone,

Sorry I'm new to this thread so I'm not sure where to join in with the chat, but also could definitely use some gentle distraction.

May I join?

Ahimsa 25-11-2023 08:06 PM

Hi Pixie,

Absolutely, everyone is welcome! I'm just going out though to feed my friends cat as she's away tonight but I'll be back on later :)

long road 25-11-2023 08:31 PM

Absolutely Pixie. We chat about all sort of random stuff and more generic how our days are going stuff.

Resting when you don't want to is annoying though.

pixiedust_11 25-11-2023 09:50 PM

Thank you, in which case I hope everyone's had a good day so far.

Hope cat feeding went well!

long road 25-11-2023 09:59 PM

I had a roast dinner for dinner and it was delicious.

Been up to anything fun Pixie or just a day like most others?

I am Jen btw.

Ahimsa 25-11-2023 10:38 PM

The cat was fine, yeah :) My friend doesn't live far away, and I have four cats myself so it's an easy favour to do :)

pixiedust_11 25-11-2023 11:47 PM

Hi Jen, nice to meet you :) Roast dinners are lovely, yorkshires are my favourite!

My day has been busy. I achieved more than I thought I would which I'm trying to be kind to myself about.

That's nice that you have so many pets Ahisma. How long have you had cats? I'm an animal lover but can't have any in my flat unfortunately.

Ahimsa 25-11-2023 11:59 PM

Ahh well done Pixie, that sounds really productive! :)

My older girls are 5 in February (I've had them since they were 1) and my younger two are 3 in March (I've had them since they were 8 weeks) - I work in a vets.

Sadness you aren't allowed pets! What would you have, if you could?

one_step_closer 26-11-2023 10:54 AM

Hi Pixie! Welcome to the thread. :)

Morning everyone, how are you all?

Zurg 26-11-2023 11:44 AM

Morning Lindsay :)

I have managed to do the dishes, do Findus' litterbox and take down the trash and the paper/cardboard stuff for recycling. Now i am couch sitting with a cappucino. It's cold outside. Meant to either get some snow or sleet later. I was going to go to the grocery store but i donated my last money to an activist campaign against the oil industry. The rain forest is more important than cola!!!!
Are you up to anything today??

long road 26-11-2023 02:01 PM

Afternoon Lindsay!

Ooh cappuccino! That sounds lovely Zurg!

I am having a bit of a wobbly day today.

tamobhuuta 26-11-2023 02:46 PM

Good afternoon everyone. Today I need to watch yesterday's doctor who. Mum says it was very good.

I hope you enjoyed your coffee Zurg.

Sorry you're feeling wobbly lr.

Ahimsa 26-11-2023 02:53 PM

Hey Tamo, Pixie, Zurg and OSC! How are you doing today?

LR I'm sorry you're having a wobbly day today, can you do something restful?

long road 26-11-2023 03:08 PM

Hey Beth and Tamo!

I watched the new doctor who last night it was amazing!!!!

I am mentally wobbly as well as physically so not really sure what to do with myself.
Just finished catching up on UK Survivor.definitely not as good as Australian but it passed the time.

Cacoethes 26-11-2023 04:21 PM

Hi everyone!

I paid 3.99 for the new doctor who, that i am watching now!
Still worth not having a tv licence!

tamobhuuta 26-11-2023 05:22 PM

I enjoyed doctor who :) gotta love David Tennant and Catherine Tate is probably my favourite companion.

pixiedust_11 26-11-2023 05:35 PM

Hey everyone,

Sorry to hear if you've struggled today. Hoping you can find some time to be gentle with yourselves.

Ahimsa, back to your pet question, I'd totally have a dog in a perfect world, but work full time so probably wouldn't be fair! But cats are so lovely too.

Am I the only person who has never seen Dr Who? I've also not seen Star Wars or Star Trek, and people get really passionate when they find out haha.

tamobhuuta 26-11-2023 05:41 PM

Pixie you are missing out! I'm not fussed about Star Wars but Doctor Who and Next Generation Star Trek are good.

Cacoethes 26-11-2023 06:30 PM

Doctor who was well worth the 3.99!

I like star wars, never really got into star trek

tamobhuuta 26-11-2023 06:43 PM

One of the staff was recommending I watch all the Star Wars in chronological order but my brother says just to watch the original 3.

Cacoethes 26-11-2023 06:53 PM

A lot of old school fans hate the new ones for really no good reason
No, they aren't really as good as the originals, but i still liked them, personally

one_step_closer 26-11-2023 06:53 PM

I'm the same, Pixie.

long road 26-11-2023 06:59 PM

I like the original 3 star wars and the prequels, not so keen on the sequels as they don't add much for me.

I want to watch The Mandalorian at some point now I have Disney Plus courtesy of family member.

That said watch whatever you like Pixie! What kind of TV shows/films are you into?

I fell off the sofa earlier because I had one of my non epileptic seizures. None of the fun. Been asleep since then, a bit sore but not too bad. Have ordered a chicken shish kebab for dinner.

Cacoethes 26-11-2023 07:06 PM

I liked the mandolorian. And book of boba fett

I hope you enjoy your kebab!

tamobhuuta 26-11-2023 08:10 PM

Sorry about your seizure lr. Hope you enjoy(ed) your kebab.

long road 26-11-2023 08:16 PM

Been having more non epileptic seizures again recently, it sucks but it is what it is.

Kebab was really tasty.

pixiedust_11 26-11-2023 08:24 PM

I think I remember people telling me that the first 3 were their favourite, too! Maybe I'll give them a watch one day. Someone introduced me to the Marvel universe once, and for someone who isn't that into super heroes, I actually quite enjoyed it.

I'm a real mixed bag, but I especially love ghost stories and psychological thrillers. Anything that'll get me thinking.

I'm sorry to hear about your seizure, but glad you enjoyed your kebab! Hope you're feeling a bit better for it.

Cacoethes 26-11-2023 08:30 PM

I'm glad the kebab was tasty!
Something good from the day!

I used to read psychological thrillers mostly!

tamobhuuta 26-11-2023 08:53 PM

How early do we reckon I can get my meds?

tamobhuuta 26-11-2023 09:18 PM

M got the nurse to do my meds moments later!

Cacoethes 27-11-2023 06:05 AM

Morning everyone

pixiedust_11 27-11-2023 09:25 AM

Morning everybody.

I'm proud of myself already, just got a drs appt with the same dr I spoke to last time and it's this morning. Massive wins as I hate using the phone!

Hope you all have a good day.

Cacoethes 27-11-2023 09:38 AM

Well done!

Thanks, you too

tamobhuuta 27-11-2023 10:55 AM

Hello everyone.

Well done pixie.

I'm seeing an employment person this morning.

Cacoethes 27-11-2023 11:01 AM

Hey tamo
Hope it goes well!

tamobhuuta 27-11-2023 11:07 AM

Thanks. What are you up to?

Zurg 27-11-2023 11:41 AM

Morning everyone.
Having a bit of a rubbish mind today.
Hope the appointment goes well, pixie.
And yours too, Tamo.
