xx |
The French Revolution by Christopher Herbert... Interesting and very detailed.
|
I'm going to start reading The Hours by Michael Cunningham now. I saw the movie last autumn, and now I happened to find the book in the library so I thought I'd borrow it.
I don't read much nowadays, which is a shame because I used to be obsessed with books, but I'm thinking of re-establishing the habit of reading. ^^ |
I am reading No one wants you by Celine Roberts
|
I'm reading a book of plays by Anthony Minghella,
At the momet I'm reading 'Cigarettes and Chocolate'. It's amaaaaaazing. x |
I'm re reading The Pact by Jodi Picoult :)
|
I'm just reading trash for today, but tomorrow I'm going to start a badly packaged book about serial killers, written by a psychologist who has worked with some of the most notorious ones. Like I said, it looks terrible from the cover but I'm sure the content will be very interesting.
That Ricky Gervais bio I just finished was alright, badly written again but I learned a few things that I don't trust as I could find errors in the book, so it passed the time but I would be disappointed if it wasn't a library book and I'd actually paid for it. xxxxxxxxxxxxxx |
Ring - Koji Suzuki
|
The seven days of Peter Crumb- Jonny Glynn

its one that is already up and running, with members all over the world if anyone is interested. Hamlet- Shakespeare |
oh, high fidelity.
i loveeee it so much. it's my favourite of the nick hornby books (that i've read) and it really is amazing. actually. i was reading this interview with some chick-lit writer in the metro the other day and she said that she only started writing after she read high fidelity. as a sidesubject: what do you guys think about e-books? because i have quite a few saved on my computer but i just can't get myself to read them because i hate not having the actual book in my hands. i read palahniuk's survivor as an e-book and that wasn't too bad because palahniuk isn't long-winded or anything like that. it's all short sentances & etc. but anyway. i don't think i would be able to read any other e-books because i lack the concentration. |
im not a fan of e books, i get headaches if im at a comp too long, and i prefer to have the book in my hand.
|
I've just read Trainspotting by Irvine Welsh (again) and I'm now reading Porno, also by Irvine Welsh.
It's good. |

The Way I See it by Nicole Dryburgh, the story of a teenger who beat cancer.
|
"Auntie Mame" by Patrick Dennis
|
Forget Me Not by Anne Cassidy.
|
I'm currently reading Mindplayers by Pat Cadigan. Its futuristic, so I like. And it was only 99p :P
|
I'm reading Sunshine - Robin McKinley. It's good.
Then I'm going to read Interview with a vampire - Anne Rice :] |
I read one the other night called Blue by Sue Mayfield, it was about a girl who was being bullied and how it can go too far, was really good but contains triggers for sh, ed and suicide.
|
I just finished "Queen of the Damned". Im trying to pick up "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" again because I got sidetracked in the middle of it with the vampire chronicles haha.
In like a day Ill break down and continue with the series. |
Everything Must Go by Elizabeth Flock. It's taken a while to get into it, but now I'm really enjoying it. It's about a young boy who causes a tragic accident and how all the family have to learn to deal with it and what's happened to him. It kind of jumps around quite a bit too and goes from year to year quite randomly, so you have to do a bit of thinking to get it all to make sense.

Salem Falls - Jodi Picoult
|
*bumps* This cannot disappear off the first page!!!
|
i started reading middlesex (by jeffrey eugenides) this week, but i've only read about a dozen pages or so so far (half because i have revision/exams, but mostly because it's kindof boring so far and virgin suicides is probably one of my favourites of all time and i am being disappointed).
|
I started reading Dry by Augsten Burroughs but i'm not really getting into it so I think I might leave it and come back to it later.
I just ordered 2 new books though, Running Wild by J.G.Ballard and Veronica Decides To Die by Paulo C-someone. |
I started Koushun Takami's 'Battle Royale' but it's hard with all the Japanese names...
|
Quote:
And battle royale was tough for me to read for that same reason, it was so hard to keep track of all the characters and their names. Im currently reading "Tale of the Body Thief", it is the fourth book in the Vampire Chronicles and its actually quite funny. |
For are comm arts class we had to read Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury... we just finished reading that.
|
Middlesex is excellent, the beginning is hard work but stick with it, it's worth it!
I'm reading Protection by Claire Allen and it's fabulous, I'm addicted. there are threads of the story that come together slowly and make you think. It's just a sad story that's nice to lose yourself in. xxxxxxxxxxxx |
im reading faithless by karin slaughter kinda addicted to her grant count series
|
I've just finished reading Atonement so I'm reading The House At Riverton...

|
i am reading tweak by nic sheff.

Assassin's Apprentice - Robin Hobb only just started it but its a real page turner.
|
The Memory Keepers Daughter-Kim Edwards
|
Just finished Die for me by Karen Rose. 'Twas amazing and can't wait to read more of her stuff.
Now I'm going on to read Perfect Match by Jodi Picult to see what all the fuss is about... |
I'm reading Prozac Nation by Elizabeth Wurtzel, yep a little bit depressing for subject matter but i wanted to try and understand depression a bit more. It's good so far, can relate to a lot of it despite not having depression or anything, and I was told its quite hopeful and optimistic over all so Im going to persevere. All you guys reading Jodi Picoult.. HOW THE HELL DO YOU DO IT! I read My Sister's Keeper (think its called that) cried uncontrollably and havent touched another one of hers since! I think its slightly odd how she enjoys writing these traumatic books...

I'm reading a book about a Victorian mental asylum called 98 Reasons For Being. As well as reliving my A level sociology I've found it quite interesting, although I'm only 100 pages in, I'm sure it's going to be good. I'd recommend it if you want to think about how treatments have changed and the medical model has developed.

Moll Flanders- Daniel Defoe
