Grapefruit 03-08-2011 02:10 AM

I just finished A Great and Terrible Beauty by Libba Bray. It was really good and I'm looking forward to reading the next 2 in the trilogy :)

Emmy-Lou 03-08-2011 02:19 AM

I've just finished Jodi Picoults book 'The Pact'. Good book.
Now I've just started a true life book called 'Abandoned' by Anya Peters.

Tig 03-08-2011 05:49 PM

Afterwards by Rosamund Lupton. She is such a talented writer. I thoroughly enjoyed her book 'Sister' and this book is equally as gripping.

nowhereman 04-08-2011 02:35 AM

The girl who played with fire.Just about to start it.

xflutterbyex 04-08-2011 10:22 AM

I have just finished "The Atonement Child" by Francine Rivers, book broke my heart and gave me hope. Would totally recommend it.

one_step_closer 04-08-2011 11:06 AM

Just finished Cats Cradle by Kurt Vonnegut
Now reading Bluebeard by Kurt Vonnegut

Crazycatlady 06-08-2011 01:19 PM

I'm currently reading the girl who kicked the hornets nest. I have never been so gripped by books until I started reading the Millennium Series. I've read the first two (and watched the movies after each book). They are the kind of books that I cant put down but I dont want to finish them (if that makes sense lol).

Dreaming. 06-08-2011 02:40 PM

Finally finished Lolita, which was crazy but absolutely brilliant.

Now reading both The Inheritors by William Golding and Kafka on the Shore by Murakami

Emo 06-08-2011 03:03 PM

Am reading Wasted by Marya hormbacher
it is a triggering for ed so be careful if you are going to read it

simka 07-08-2011 01:42 PM

just read 'Bang,Bang, you're dead!' by narinder dhami, its about a bipolar mother looking after her two children (Mia and Jamie) but it has a good twist at the end which involves one of the children (Mia) finding out that she's ill too. Its a really good book, I recommend this one for sure. :)

crazykat 07-08-2011 01:43 PM

Talk about a spoiler!

I'm reading Meridon, the final part of Philippa Gregory's Wideacre trilogy. I'm not usually a fan of historical fiction, but it's an easy read.

cathasthoughts 09-08-2011 04:59 AM

A Clash of Kings - George R.R. Martin
About 60 pages in so far, not liking it as much as the first book yet!

The War Doctor 10-08-2011 01:37 PM

Finished The Running Man by Stephen King (writing as Richard Bachman). It was one of his better short novels; I loved it.

Currently reading (and almost finished) Vampire Hunter D: Volume One by Hideyuki Kikuchi. I don't think much of it, partly because I'm not a big fan of vampires (though at least Kikuchi's vampires are the sadistic monsters they should be), and partly because the prose style is just terrible. At times it actually reminds me of My Immortal. Also, the main character is your typical Boring Invincible Hero. I only bought it for Yoshitaka Amano's illustrations, which are as beautiful as you'd expect from him.

EmilyTHEgreat 10-08-2011 07:15 PM

Just finished Deadline. it was a amazing story

nowhereman 12-08-2011 01:06 AM

Nearly finished The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest. Next book will be The Reckoning by Kelley Armstrong, the third in the darkest powers triology.

offlineforever 12-08-2011 01:08 AM

Too Shy 12-08-2011 01:42 AM

ColourExplosion 12-08-2011 02:02 AM

I'm reading the House of Night books again, because I'm getting ready for the release of the new book :) (I'm far too much of a HON geek!) So I'm back at the first one - Marked :)

Isoverity 12-08-2011 05:55 AM

Lance Armstrong's "It's Not About The Bike".

In one week the guy found out A) he had cancer B) it had spread to his brain C) he had no health insurance. Great book about coming back from total despair and tribulation.

Did you see the cover of the new book? There's a total hunk on it. I posted it on my fb if you wanna have a look. Totally worth it. Oh and I can't wait to read the book either.

Louise 15-08-2011 06:50 PM

Handle with Care - Jodi Picoult

nowhereman 15-08-2011 10:52 PM

I'm just about to start Wintergirls by Laurie Halse Anderson, can't wait, I've wanted to read this for ages, finally bought it.

The War Doctor 16-08-2011 03:01 PM

I finished Vampire Hunter D: Volume One a few days ago and I absolutely hated it. On the bright side, now I have a little extra space on my bookshelf, because I really don't mind throwing it away.

Currently about halfway through Silver Wedding by Maeve Binchy. It's... okay. Not bad, but not really good either. I might get rid of this book too.

nowhereman 18-08-2011 12:06 AM

The Clever One by Helena Close. It says on the cover SKINS meets the Inbetweeners. I love Skins so I bought it. Then I found out I'd read one of her books before, The Cut of Love (about sh).

HopeRises 18-08-2011 10:40 PM

Reading some kind of hungarian fairy tale on my kindle but am going to start 'spider bones' by Kathy Reichs.

little_paws 18-08-2011 11:16 PM

nowhereman 18-08-2011 11:59 PM

The Lovely Bones. 2nd time reading it.

varul 19-08-2011 03:05 PM

I finished reading The Trial by Franz Kafka and started Nausea by Jean-Paul Sartre. I enjoy both so far.

Biba 19-08-2011 04:26 PM

Be your own life coach - fiona harrold.
Chicken soup.

xxhappydaysxx 19-08-2011 11:19 PM

I have just read "A visit from the goon squad" which i really liked, and also "The midwives comfession" which was a really light but good read too,

Now I gotta pick what to read from my ever growing "to read" list. Just bought "the bell jar" so maybe that.

Revolving Door 20-08-2011 08:30 PM

The Savage Garden By Mark Mills

I didn't think I would enjoy it but I am.

Also read Eclipse - rubbish....I don't like the books but my friends been begging me to read them all so I will.

Leo Pard 21-08-2011 11:57 PM

Just got the new Cherub book by Robert Muchamore so that has been added to the pile.

nowhereman 22-08-2011 12:46 PM

Ways to live forever by Sally Nicolls.

OceanBlues 22-08-2011 05:29 PM

I'm reading forever by Maggie stiefvater

The War Doctor 22-08-2011 05:46 PM

Finished Silver Wedding by Maeve Binchy. Utter trash, with an abrupt, unsatisfying ending to boot. How she earned a reputation as one of Ireland's top writers is beyond me, seeing as talented writers has been one of our chief exports for a long time...

Next I'll either read a book of Philip K. Dick short stories, or Hamlet. I haven't decided.

sweepingly 22-08-2011 07:36 PM

just started Valis by Philip K Dick

<(O_O<) (>O_O)> 22-08-2011 08:04 PM

"port mortuary" - patricia cornwell.

Dreaming. 22-08-2011 10:08 PM

Philip K Dick! My new-found love.

I'm currently re-reading Birdsong as it's been a good eight years or so since I last read it, and I feel I missed a lot of the amazingness of it.

Also half-reading Stephen Fry's autobiography, which I'm loving to pieces (and I'm totally not normally an autobiography person).

The War Doctor 23-08-2011 09:42 PM

I've finally gotten around to starting Hamlet by... hell, you know who wrote it. I'm not very far in, but I'm loving that familiar Shakespeary feel.

nowhereman 25-08-2011 03:43 PM

I've read Girl Parts, Vampire Beach, The Avenger and am now on Shadows on the Moon. (the main girl cuts herself, I didnt know that)

xxhappydaysxx 25-08-2011 10:05 PM

finally reading "To Kill a Mockingbird"

DannieGirl 28-08-2011 01:59 AM

Hey =) I'm currently reading memoirs of a geisha... good book :) quite inspiring as well as it allows you to believe the quote "never give up"

Veggie 28-08-2011 03:19 AM

Just finished Alice in Wonderland for the 2nd time. Kids book my butt. Going to start reading the Scarlet Letter.

Athiri 28-08-2011 05:55 PM

Recently finished reading Money by Martin Amis. It was alright, a bit typical of that kind of book (hedonistic and easily dislikable protagonist who fritters away money on booze and women) and not particularly exciting until the ending which was quite a twist.
Now reading Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency by Douglas Adams. I've never read anything of his before but I'm really loving his style so far :)

xxhappydaysxx 28-08-2011 10:25 PM

a midwives confession was good :)

nowhereman 31-08-2011 01:03 AM

I just started The Demon's Covenant by Sarah Rees Brennan. The first one was good.
