Hahaha!
Does she do that thing that they do in Miranda and say one bit of the word really quietly?
They are delicious tbh. And they come with a shot of prosecco!

A pornstar martini is just vanilla vodka and passion fruit martini juice/mix type thing. With a prosecco shot. And a raspberry om a stick but we never have any frickin raspberries.

I have so far managed to avoid saying it directly in front of a customer. Though we can all be very loud so the customers probably hear a lot of questionable things from us
Like someone shouting 'Don't brush your boobs against me, I'm not a lesbian!' When there was a customer literally right there....

What goes in a pornstar martini? I know a regular martini but I have never had a pornstar one

My mum got me schloer for Christmas Dinner this year as I don't want to risk drinking alcohol when my legs randomly give out when I am sober these days.

I had 'bucks fizz' at Christmas

(Tesco own brand fizzy orange)

long road 16-01-2023 09:41 PM

Ninja posting! That sounds hilarious, my mum is also the kind of mum who doesn't say the word porn much, does she whisper her order or say it loud and proud?

Zurg 16-01-2023 09:42 PM

Thank you all for your kind words <3
It is sad because he was a kind man and his two sons now have to face a life without him. I used to see my family quite often when i grew up but as i became older and my mind became a lot more troubled i just withdrew so there's a lot of them i haven't seen more than 4 or 5 times the last twenty years.

I do enjoy alcohol free wine. Mostly because i sometimes crave or miss the taste of wine but don't want to tempt fate by trying the actual thing!!! It took an awful lot of years to get free of addiction and it was such a horrible ordeal that i really don't want to risk having to repeat it!!!

Jen, the veggie Chow mein had red pepper, onions, carrots, soy beans and what Google informs me is called 'pointed cabbage' in english, which is more or less a pretty accurate Translation, lol. And you boil noodles and add them to the dish in the wok along with the sauce :D
Oh, and garlic of course!!! Which just so happens to make you repel all vampires for the rest of the day. So pretty much a win-win!!!

I wonder if scloer would mix with orange juice??

I had orange juice and fizzy water when the others had bucks fizz.

Did you drink it from a fancy glass?

Apart from the peppers (they make me ill) that sounds delicious, what's the non English name for pointed cabbage? I am curious if I have ever heard of it before.

Do you make your own sauce or use a packet one?
Scare away the vampires the chow mein is all yours!

Cacoethes 16-01-2023 09:49 PM

It's always sad when kids are involved
I'm the same with my family. Well, dad's side anyway. Saw them all at his funeral, first time in many many years.

Sounds sensible to stick with alcohol free! Can be a slippery slope

Could it be pak choi?

long road 16-01-2023 10:48 PM

It might be. *Waits patiently for Zurg to confirm*

Trying to distract myself as mind is playing tricks on me.
It's my 30t birthday next month which is kind of cool I
My plan from when I was bored in the pandemic was to hire a bouncy castle but I think I'd probably break something

Cacoethes 16-01-2023 10:50 PM

A bouncy castle would be awesome tbh!

long road 16-01-2023 11:02 PM

I have always wanted to hire one. I am not 100% that it would fit in my garden. Also February might not be the best time of year. Maybe if I feel more active next year I will hire one then but I might have to hire a hall as well.

The only other possibility is endive.

Zurg 17-01-2023 07:51 AM

Morning all :)

Jen and Dawn, sorry to disappoint you but i was just thinking of the danish name for pointed cabbage which is 'spidskaal' ;)
Jen, the recipe told how to make the sauce and what to put in it. Making Asien type of sauces is surprisingly easy and they are really tasty!!!

How is everyone???
Bun-bun is sending me evil stares as i'm sure he feels i haven't fed him nearly enough for his morning noms….

Cacoethes 17-01-2023 08:26 AM

I googled and the translations it's coming up with is scallions, white cabbage or spring cabbage.

Morning!
Oh bless him!
I get that from the guinea pigs. Because clearly they haven't been fed in WEEKS and are positively wasting away!

I'm ok. Though it is -5 and I have lots to do today!

Zurg 17-01-2023 09:18 AM

Brrr… -5 doesn't Sound very pleasant!!! It's not as cold here but quite windy and rainy.
What shenanigans are you getting up to today, Beckie??? I am most curious!!!

Google told me scallions too but i dismissed that because i thought it might have had a stroke. To me, scallions, sounds like a disease pirates would bengetting some hundred of years ago, lol

Cacoethes 17-01-2023 09:27 AM

Gym, pilates, glow beatz, post office, asda, washing. I think that's it!

It does! It is a weird name tbh.

Did you know the new variant of covid is called Kraken?
Like the rum. Or mythical giant squid.
I think they're taking the piss now

Zurg 17-01-2023 11:21 AM

Awesome!!! “Sorry boss, can't work today, the kraken Got me!!!” XD

Cacoethes 17-01-2023 11:35 AM

Exactly! XD
Except you can go into work with covid now.
So not really a valid excuse anymore!

Zurg 17-01-2023 11:59 AM

Working peoples' Rights and conditions have seriously deteorirated!!! Not even getting a day off even if the kraken Got you!!!! Rude!!! >:(

one_step_closer 17-01-2023 12:09 PM

Morning everyone.

Sorry for your loss, Kat. Here if you need to talk or whatever.

Just popping on quickly, I need to go to the gym group today which will take away a lot of my internet time which is unfair! I hope you all have a good day.

Cacoethes 17-01-2023 12:39 PM

I know!

Have fun at the gym group lindsay!

I went to the post office but they couldn't top up my key because my ID wasn't valid. I used my provisional licence which expired last year. They've accepted it before and my identity hasn't changed in the last year but oh well! I'll just go back later with my passport. Luckily it's only a 10 min walk and I need to go into town again later anyway.
Still fairly annoying though! I also forgot to pick up my new glasses. Will have to do that later too!

long road 17-01-2023 01:23 PM

Interestingly I think scallions is the American English name for spring onions. Hence why it may not have sounded right. I have now learnt my first danish word although I don't know exactly what it is describing hmmmm....

The kraken is a funny name for a new variant. I thought they were sticking to Greek letters. It's really is a two tiered system with sick pay now, at my work (which I am on prolonged leave from) if you were feeling to ill to work because you had the kraken you could take the day off sick on full pay but there has always been a pressure from some people to just work from home unless you are dying. Whereas with new rules a lot of people wouldn't even get statutory sick pay for taking a day off because the kraken was nomming on their immune system!

Eurgh to post office suddenly not accepting expired ID, I don't have a driving license and my passport expired last year so when I got top up voucher I had to get my partner to take the water bill and a bank statement.

New glasses are fun. with new prescriptions I find the world is weirdly high definition for a few days until I get used to it.

tamobhuuta 17-01-2023 01:32 PM

Afternoon everyone :)

Cacoethes 17-01-2023 01:52 PM

I don't know the rules around sick pay at my work!
I got it when I was in hospital last year. I don't think I got it when I was off with covid in 2021 though. Still had to isolate for 2 weeks then.

Yeah it was annoying.
Also, the big boss and one of the managers were also in there! Big boss said they were robbing the post office XD

Yeah probably will be weird!
My eyes get worse every eye test. I'm on 18 month checks now. And I need my lenses thinned!

long road 17-01-2023 02:11 PM

Eurgh why is sick pay so complicated...

Lol at the big boss saying they were robbing the post office. Maybe they were gettin money out??

Welcome to the club (it's an expensive club that makes it fancy right?) I have needed my lens thinned for years. Mind you I probably have a glasses headstart on you as I have been wearing them for since I was for so like 26 years. Mine need thinning because of my rugby ball shaped eyeballs (astigmatism)

Cacoethes 17-01-2023 02:17 PM

Possibly.
The higher up managers are always going to the bank and post office.

It is expensive!
But according to my mum, you get free eye tests if you say you have a family history of glaucoma. She did it by accident because she got glaucoma and cataracts mixed up but then she didn't have to pay for the test.

I've only needed glasses since I was 18. So only 13 years! Mine need thinning because my prescription is now very high.

long road 17-01-2023 02:18 PM

P s. Afternoon tambohuuta! How are you doing today?

long road 17-01-2023 02:24 PM

Maybe they really are casing the joint to rob it then!

My prescription is around -3. But I got lucky as my Mum has always had around -20 and that was before her sight got worse around 20 years ago and she became legally partially sighted. Huh I still had to pay and I have a family history of glaucoma maybe it's only a close family thing my grandparents did but my parents/sibling haven't

Cacoethes 17-01-2023 02:31 PM

Possibly!

I can't remember what mine is. My left eye is a lot worse than the right for some reason.

Weird! I think she said one of her parents had it, so could be close relatives. Or maybe only certain opticians?

I think i might make some banana bread again

long road 17-01-2023 02:37 PM

Who knows glad your mum gamed the system and got it free though!

Do it. Banana bread is delicious. We get our shopping from click and collect and my bananas are sadly entirely green this week and as such inedible. I am having a fish finger sandwich for lunch in a minute.

Cacoethes 17-01-2023 02:54 PM

Banana bread is in the oven!

Ahh that is sad!
Fish finger sandwiches are awesome. We do them at work. I had one on my break last week!

long road 17-01-2023 03:04 PM

Bet it will make your flat smell delicious! Baking is the best air freshener.

It is sad but at least they will be ripe eventually, I am just impatient.

Fish finger sandwich was delicious. I got the fish fingers free from a family member who is gluten free and got delivered non gluten free ones. So not only was it tasty it was cheap!

Cacoethes 17-01-2023 03:10 PM

It already has!

I think it's Japan where they sell bananas with varying degrees of ripeness in one pack.

Even better!

long road 17-01-2023 03:36 PM

Wow I knew Japan was clever but that is next level. I always got different levels of ripeness when I went round the supermarket myself.

Did you put an extra banana in? I remember last time you thought it wasn't quite banananery enough.

This is an excellent word. I need to figure out how to get it into my next assignment.

I hope your banana bread is good Beckie, I am jealous.

Cacoethes 17-01-2023 04:02 PM

I always manage to find bananas the correct amount of ripeness.
One time i was lazy and went to the co-op after the gym for bananas. 1.20 for substandard bananas! Rip off. Get a much better bunch from asda for 75p!

I did put an extra banana in!
I had to rush out to the post office and opticians and now i have pilates so I'll have to wait until i get home to see if it's bananery enough this time!
I'm also concerned i didn't turn the oven off. But pretty sure I did :ermm:

Depending on what your are studying that could be rather tricky!

Co-op is the rip off supermarket but they do some really tasty bakery things.

tamobhuuta 17-01-2023 04:36 PM

I don't know if I like banana bread. I don't like raw banana. But they're OK in smoothies.

I'm going on overnight leave!

In my next village we also have a Spar which is even worse for being a rip off than the co-op.

long road 17-01-2023 05:05 PM

Maybe you could try some banana bread Tambohuuta?

I hope your leve goes well xx

tamobhuuta 17-01-2023 05:15 PM

I could ask my mum to make some, she likes making bread. Advantage of living at home!

one_step_closer 17-01-2023 05:46 PM

I'm not sure if I've ever had banana bread before.

I hope you have a nice overnight leave, Tamo.

Cacoethes 17-01-2023 07:03 PM

Hope your leave goes well tamo!

I've just got home and my banana bread is sufficiently bananery! I am pleased.
I also forgot i picked up some garlic and cream cheese stuffed mushrooms from the reduced section.
The reduced sticker is very inconveniently placed right over the cooking instructions :plain:

long road 17-01-2023 07:06 PM

Definite advantage Tamo. I miss my mum's baking I went home for Christmas and got to eat her homemade mince pies and Christmas Cake was lush.

Banana bread is halfway between bread and cake in my opinion slightly closer to cake but I do like it. Yay that's yours is properly banananery Becky!

*Facepalm* to the reduced sticker placement maybe try googling? Tesco's online shopping website has the cooking instructions on there generally.

Cacoethes 17-01-2023 07:11 PM

Banana bread is definitely more like cake. It is basically banana cake baked in a loaf tin. So idk why it's referred to as bread at all!

I attempted to peel the sticker off, but it took off most of the bottom sticker too....
But i THINK i can make out 180 for 20 mins. Which is pretty standard. So I'm going with that!

I got my new glasses also!
Turns out my prescription is -4 in one eye, -4.50 in the other!

long road 17-01-2023 07:42 PM

Maybe its just called bread due to the loaf tin. Naming is weird.

180 for 20 minutes is pretty standard. My partner pretty much chucks everything in at 200 for 20 minutes.

Proper minus numbers there! Mine used to be around that but have got less as I have aged. Bendy eyeballs are still bendy and change axis every time I get a test.

Zurg 17-01-2023 07:49 PM

Bendy eyeballs Sound like something from a horror film, Jen ;)

long road 17-01-2023 08:13 PM

XD it's just how I say astigmatism!!

Cacoethes 17-01-2023 09:41 PM

Quite possibly.
I wonder whose idea it was to make a cake in a loaf tin

Well, I ate them and I'm not dead or horrifically ill, so i think it was probably ok!

My best friend has nystagmus. I think he's classed as legally blind. Lives in london and he hates the electric scooters because you can't hear them and he can't see them! He also has a stick for super busy places..that I've never seen him use.

Someone who either A) didn't want to buy another tin just to make cake or B) wanted to pretend cake was bread.
