long road 28-01-2023 03:30 PM

Hey guys,

2 cucumbers for under the price of 1 is a win. Yay for incorrect signage!

I am feeling a bit sad as I wasn't feeling well enough this morning and had to miss family member'd birthday party. Feeling a little better now but still in bed.

Might pop to theirs to give their presents later if I feel better.

Cacoethes 28-01-2023 03:36 PM

Tis indeed!
The guinea pigs have cucumber every day so i get through a lot!

That's a shame. You can't help feeling unwell though! Resting sounds like the right option!

one_step_closer 28-01-2023 03:52 PM

You're very savvy, Beckie. If I noticed something at a higher price than it said I'd probably just pay that price. Or I wouldn't have looked at the price to begin with.

I never wash colours and whites separately and only had things go pink-ish once. I guess you wouldn't want to risk it with your dobok though.

I'm sorry you're not feeling great, Jen. Put yourself first and only go to give presents later if it's going to be ok for you.

Cacoethes 28-01-2023 04:06 PM

I need every single penny right now!
And I have to add up as I go along because otherwise I'd end up with my card being declined, which is always embarrassing! I got it wrong today anyway and had to take the bananas back.

Definitely don't want to risk it! My white vest top is already grey but it goes underneath so doesn't matter, but doboks aren't cheap! You can tell some people don't wash them separately and it looks a bit scruffy.

long road 28-01-2023 04:25 PM

Thanks for the reassurance I am doing the right thing OSC and Beckie. Even if it sucks somewhat getting worse because I overdo it would suck more. It's hard to put myself first as the unhelpful thoughts chime in but I am trying.

You definitely don't want a scruffy Dobok Beckie. I imagine it fills up quite a bit of the washing machine at once Amway if it's anything like my friend's jiu-jitsu uniform

Cacoethes 28-01-2023 04:38 PM

Thing is, if you push yourself to do more, you'll end up needing to rest for even longer, which in turn will probably make you more frustrated.
So definitely best to take it easy!

It is very thick so yes it does!
I'm not familiar with the jiu jitsu uniform but I think pretty much all martial arts have similar ones to each other!

long road 28-01-2023 05:16 PM

Martial arts uniforms often seem to be combat pyjamas crossed with dressing gowns!

Cacoethes 28-01-2023 05:20 PM

Yeah pretty much! XD
Gets VERY hot in the summer! I was overheating during my last grading (was just me thankfully!) And managed to get through it but I must have looked very warm and the instructor seemed rather concerned and made me stand by the open door!
Doesn't help that the heating is always on full blast this time of year!

one_step_closer 28-01-2023 05:55 PM

Are any public places getting the temperature right? A lot are either too hot or freezing. I think hospitals keep their heating on all the time.

Cacoethes 28-01-2023 06:01 PM

Hospitals are always boiling!
The centre i go to for taekwondo and glow beatz is on a school site, i think it gets used for some classes like drama class. At glow beatz a few weeks ago, they forgot to turn the heating off after a drama class. That was a VERY hot class! L hadn't realised and sent out a mass apology email XD
Also the gym has been very warm lately. My glasses steam up soon as i walk into the building! I think probably because of the pool though mainly.
And i believe it's also one of the 'warm spaces' in town. Don't know if you have them where you are but certain places are opening their doors to people who want to stay warm and can't put the heating on at home. The labour hall is also offering washing facilities which is nice.

one_step_closer 28-01-2023 06:04 PM

Yeah, we have warm spaces too. Mostly churches and libraries I think.

Cacoethes 28-01-2023 06:09 PM

Our library is closed for refurbishment until the summer but there are lots of other places. I think it was one though!
Both good and sad that places have to do this.

one_step_closer 28-01-2023 06:12 PM

Lots of things are scary these days. We're in a mess.

Cacoethes 28-01-2023 06:16 PM

We are indeed.

one_step_closer 28-01-2023 06:19 PM

But there are nice little things too :) My positives jar has some things in it already.

Cacoethes 28-01-2023 06:29 PM

That's brilliant! :)

I'm just ticking along and trying to keep busy
And not think about all the overdue bills lol

tamobhuuta 28-01-2023 07:06 PM

That's really great osc.

I'm pleased to have finished with the Crisis Team. I thought I was going to need lots of support staying safe but it turns out I'm ok :)

Cacoethes 28-01-2023 07:11 PM

That's good news

long road 28-01-2023 10:40 PM

Well obviously I wasn't well enough to go out. I fell asleep sometime after 3pm and didn't wake up until 8:30. Hopefully I can sleep tonight I think I probably will as I already feel tired. Zzzzz....

Great news about being ok and feeling you can stay safe Tamo.

Good sign you already have positives in your jar OSC.

Cacoethes 29-01-2023 09:35 AM

Sorry to hear that.
Hope you slept ok!

Morning everyone

Zurg 29-01-2023 11:12 AM

Late morning again :)

I disappeared yesterday. My back started hurting again in the muscle i pulled. By evening it Got so bad i had to just go to bed. Didn't get much sleep though but fortunately today the painkillers actually work so i feel a bit more able to be a human.

How are you, Beckie??? Doing anything today??

Cacoethes 29-01-2023 11:26 AM

Oh no! Sounds awful.
I'm glad the painkillers have worked though!

I'm ok. Double pilates now then opticians appointment. Will spot clean the boys cage too.
Pilates finishes at 12:20 and optician is at 1:55 which is very annoying. I'm too lazy to go home and come back into town so I've borrowed some money from my friend so i can get a coffee!

Zurg 29-01-2023 12:30 PM

I'm glad you can at least have a coffee while you wait :)
I just threw out an entire net of mandarines. They felt weird and smelled a bit nasty when i attempted to peel some of them :(

Sundays are boring. And also a bit sad because even though i don't work, i get stressed about monday and a new week. Which is weird…!!!

How are Merry and Pippin?? Do they get into many shenanigans???

tamobhuuta 29-01-2023 12:54 PM

I'm glad the painkillers are helping Zurg. Try not to get too stressed! Is there anything you're looking forward to?

I hope your trip to the opticians isn't expensive Cacoethes!

Cacoethes 29-01-2023 01:35 PM

Oh no! That's disappointing. Love a mandarin.

I get that. I work mondays but even when i didn't it was a bit like 'here we go again'

They are good!
They turf veggies they don't want out of their bowls which is a little annoying but other than that, they are pretty well behaved!

It's just a contact lense check up. I had the expensive appointment the other week XD

one_step_closer 29-01-2023 02:03 PM

Afternoon everyone.

I hope you can get on top of your back pain, Kat. I've pulled a muscle in my back before too so I know what it can be like. Mandarins and other similar fruit sometimes last ages and sometimes go mouldy quickly which is a shame. I've got some easy peelers from Asda but they're tiny and sour. They sent me kid size apples too. Very annoying. I also get stressed about a new week starting.

Sounds like a kind of busy day for you, Beckie although I wonder if you'll challenge me on that belief!

How are you, Tamo?

Cacoethes 29-01-2023 02:12 PM

Haha!
You know me too well :tongue2:
It's not massively busy. Only a few things. Majority of the day i won't be doing much.

How are you?

not_so_insig 29-01-2023 02:15 PM

Afternoon all. Just a quick note to say that the dwp are sending out letters about the increased benefit rates from 12 April. I have received one lately so don't panic if you receive one.

tamobhuuta 29-01-2023 02:16 PM

I'm ok thanks osc. I've found a book a like so I've been reading that. Just having lunch now :) I've asked my mum to show me how to change the washing machine because I just used the setting it was left on and dyed my lovely cream dress grey!

How are you osc?

tamobhuuta 29-01-2023 02:17 PM

Thanks for the warning insig!

one_step_closer 29-01-2023 02:25 PM

I hope you can have a good balance, Beckie.

You know everything about everything, Dawn! How are you today?

It's always good to be able to get into a book and enjoy it. :) What are you having for lunch? Oh no for dying your dress! I hope there is a way you can get it back to white. You'll need to have a lesson on what all the settings mean on the washing machine. I always leave mine on one setting though and everything turns out fine. I also don't do separate washings of colours and whites and it works out ok. Hope I haven't jinxed that! I wash on a low temperature though, I think.

I'm ok in this moment. Hoping it won't change.

Cacoethes 29-01-2023 02:42 PM

Yeah all I have to do now is contact lense check (waiting in opticians now) and then not really much else! Just putting washing away and changing bed sheets. And doing a quick spot clean of the boys cage.
Managed to get them some romaine lettuce from the reduced section! Usually £1.10 and was reduced to 66p. They have it every day so I am very pleased!

Glad you're ok right now. Try not to overthink it and just enjoy being ok!

I wash things on the same setting and only separate colours when I wash my dobok. Don't bother about separating anything else! Also have a quick wash setting for things that just need a freshen up. There are sooo many settings but they are all very clearly labelled so it makes it easier!

not_so_insig 29-01-2023 03:08 PM

I am ok thanks Lindsay. I have just washed and dried my hair.

tamobhuuta 29-01-2023 03:11 PM

My dad had done a 60 degree wash!

Cacoethes 29-01-2023 03:22 PM

That's pretty hot!
I think i do mine on 30 or 40.

one_step_closer 29-01-2023 03:26 PM

Who's joining me and Beckie on RYL bedding change day? I changed mine this morning.

Cacoethes 29-01-2023 03:33 PM

I have washed the bedding but have yet to put fresh ones on!

tamobhuuta 29-01-2023 04:15 PM

I don't know how often I change my bedding. Not enough, probably. But it was clean when I came home on overnight leave.

Zurg 29-01-2023 04:19 PM

Yay!!! I changed my bedding today!!! I'm in with the cool ones :D

I also have to do my laundry today. I wanted to wait but i've run out of kitchen cloths…. I have 4 machines of laundry due to changing bed sheets o_o
I can't remember last time i had a late afternoon/early evening booking in the laundry basement…. But hopefully people Will prioritise having dinner and i shall be all alone down there. As i prefer!!!

Cacoethes 29-01-2023 04:25 PM

Oof that's a lot of laundry!
It was always hard doing laundry in hospital. 2 machines and 2 dryers between 20 patients. And usually at least one machine would be broken!
Was best to do it early because most people slept in.

one_step_closer 29-01-2023 05:09 PM

I wash half of my bedding at a time so it fits on my clothes horse with my other clothes and I leave the rest till the next time I do a wash. I do a washing every couple of days.

Cacoethes 29-01-2023 05:11 PM

I have a washer dryer so i just chuck everything in!
Just done a spot clean of the cage and put the small fleeces in the machine. Seem to be using the washing machine a great deal lately!

Zurg 29-01-2023 05:40 PM

I only do laundry once a week. Our machines are a bit like industrial machines, so they are fast and can take a big load at a time. Usually only takes me a bit more than two hours to wash and tumble dry 4 machines. I'm almost half Way through now. No sign of other people. Very satisfying!!!

I made batter for pancakes. I realised earlier that i had no dinner. And i wanted noms!!! And i don't want to walk to the grocery shop because i'll be knackered after laundry and there is a storm outside and it's raining!!! But i had stuff so i can make pancakes :D
Now awaits the dreaded process of having to make them…. This is usually where i screw up everything. Is the pan hot enough or too hot….??? *trembles*

not_so_insig 29-01-2023 05:44 PM

I put the washing on every day. But I do have a medical condition which means that I can go through lots of clothes a day so don't want stinky clothes stinking the flat. On my bad days I have to take multiple showers to avoid skin infections. So I am not typical of the rest of you.

Cacoethes 29-01-2023 05:46 PM

That's not too bad then!

Oooh pancakes! Yum!
I have protein pancake mix but they don't really taste of anything.
Regular pancakes are much better!

one_step_closer 29-01-2023 06:00 PM

My washer dryer doesn't dry my clothes completely and there's no option to put them in again but just further dry them so I have to use a clothes horse too. I would have been as well sticking with my washing machine.

I hope people stay away until you're finished, Kat. What do you do while you wait? I hope your pancakes turn out ok.

That sounds annoying, Dawn.

Cacoethes 29-01-2023 06:09 PM

Mine doesn't either, but i just leave the washing machine door open for a bit and they dry then for some reason.
Sometimes things do come out completely dry. Sometimes I'll have to put a few items on the radiator but not always.

not_so_insig 29-01-2023 06:14 PM

I am hopefully having pancake mix when my tesco shopping order comes tomorrow. I have never made pancakes. I recently bought an pancake pan. This year pancake day falls the day before my birthday :D

one_step_closer 29-01-2023 06:20 PM

Keep practicing and maybe you can have pancakes for your birthday!

Pi.R^2 29-01-2023 06:21 PM

The heck is a pancake pan??? I've been using a frying pan all these years...

Also hello...
