I had a chocolate milkshake, she had passionfruit!
They are actually called 'thickshakes' because they're made with whippy ice cream :-D
Yeah she's so lovely! We might meet up just to chill tomorrow.

The quorn bites aren't frozen, they're a snack, kinda like mini scotch eggs but with garlic and herb in the middle!

I LOVE the cauliflower cheese grills.
I did order some from tesco, but they didn't have any :(

one_step_closer 14-05-2023 06:09 PM

Does that not make them hard to drink through the straw? I hope you do see your friend again tomorrow, better than being bored on your own.

They do sound nice, I might have to hunt them down.

I think I got my cauliflower cheese grills from Asda although I might be mistaken.

What are you doing this evening?

No chance of being paid more!! But the job means my pets get half price treatment and work pay my insurance excess if I ever have to claim anything on pet insurance, so its worth it for the cats.

Cacoethes 14-05-2023 06:42 PM

They have extra wide straws for this reason!

Oohhh yes, they do have them in asda!
Been away for so long i Totally forgot XD

Not doing a lot. Just fed the boys. Need to give merry his medication in a bit. Will do it after my dinner!

Your cats are lucky to have you beth!

one_step_closer 14-05-2023 07:00 PM

Did you have to suck your cheeks right in?

How often do you need to feed them? What's for your dinner?

long road 14-05-2023 07:03 PM

I had a nap. I am not sure if I feel better but there we are.
Just ordered pizza but Jenna doesn't have to rage for once as I am having a Margherita. I couldn't be bothered with toppings.

That milk shake sounds lush Beckie. Was it from a chain or a local place?

I have never had a cauliflower cheese grill sounds nice though. Partner doesn't like cauliflower cheese (he is against all cheese sauce) so maybe I could get my fix that way. My city doesn't have an Asda though. Which now I think about it is weird as we have every other big supermarket: Aldi, Iceland, Lidl, Marks and Spencer, Morrisons, Sainsbury's, Tesco's, Waitrose. But no Asda.

Yay for hash browns Beckie!

tamobhuuta 14-05-2023 07:06 PM

Lots of posts! I have had a nice day, prayer group then mass. But we still have no mains water.

one_step_closer 14-05-2023 07:09 PM

I hope you enjoy your pizza, Jen. Cauliflower cheese grills are so good, they might do them in other supermarkets.

I'm glad you had a good day Tamo despite the water issue. Have you had any updates about it?

long road 14-05-2023 07:17 PM

Google tell me Tesco do a version of cauliflower cheese grills. Colour me intrigued

Cacoethes 14-05-2023 07:23 PM

I hope you enjoy your pizza!

It's a chain but i think they only have places around this area?
Surfin cafe. Tbh i haven't seen one anywhere else apart from here and one in Hertfordshire!

I'm sure the other shops will have their own cauliflower cheese grills too!
I know tesco have them.
Idk how anyone can be against cheese sauce! What about mac and cheese??

Glad you had a good day tamo!

I mentioned tesco did them earlier on Jen! But they didn't have any when i had my delivery :(

I feed the boys twice a day. Some only feed them once a day (though the same amount)
I just know I'd get hassled if i didn't split it up XD

one_step_closer 14-05-2023 07:25 PM

You should try them, Jen. And I agree with Beckie about cheese sauce!

Yeah, I feed Crookshanks 4 times a day because he seems to like to eat. I think most cats are just fed 2 times a day.

Ugh, I'm glad your cats get lots of benefits but it doesn't sound like the perfect set-up for you, working such long hours with no sign of that changing :(

Same. Livid at the idea that someone would object to cheese sauce. I make amazing vegan cheese sauce!

tamobhuuta 14-05-2023 07:34 PM

Ew cauliflower.

one_step_closer 14-05-2023 07:35 PM

Not even with cheese sauce, Tamo?

tamobhuuta 14-05-2023 07:38 PM

Nope. Especially not then baked.

one_step_closer 14-05-2023 07:39 PM

Do you like broccoli or is that too much like cauliflower?

Ahimsa 14-05-2023 07:39 PM

Tamo I'm with you on the fact that caulilflower is awful

one_step_closer 14-05-2023 07:40 PM

Oh no, why are you both saying these hurtful things?!

long road 14-05-2023 07:45 PM

Pizza was pizzaery.

Not heard of them down hear must be a local chain.

He likes cheese, but thinks is it is a travesty to put cheese in white sauce. I think it's because it taste creamy and he doesn't like cream. I don't question it any more he has been this way for the ten years we have been together, and according to his family for many years before. Plus there is a delivery place near us that does great Mac and cheese so I don't have to go without.

Do the Tesco ones have good reviews from you then? Sad times that they were unavailable. I may add them to my order tonight.

Squeakers gonna squeak for their vegetable treats!

Cacoethes 14-05-2023 07:56 PM

Well, you definitely want your pizza to be pizzaery!

At least you don't have to go without!

Yes! The tesco ones are very good!

They will squeak no matter how much i feed them XD
Every time i come back in from outside, they start up! Expecting a plate full of grass!
Alas, my neighbour has mowed. So no grass!

long road 14-05-2023 08:05 PM

The travesty they are going to be super sad about the lack of grass for next little while

Cacoethes 14-05-2023 08:07 PM

They are!
I literally can't get them any. They can't have grass that's just been cut either!
There are lots of grassy spots about but there are a lot of dog walkers about so i can't be sure if the grass hasn't been soiled at some point!

tamobhuuta 14-05-2023 08:45 PM

I like broccoli, it's one of the few vegetables I like as a vegetarian!

Ahimsa 14-05-2023 08:57 PM

Broccoli is amazing

one_step_closer 14-05-2023 09:01 PM

Oh no, grass is their favourite thing!

Broccoli is like mini trees.

tamobhuuta 14-05-2023 09:04 PM

I like broccoli best when the stem is still a bit crunchy.

You might want some earplugs to handle the squeaks of disappointment!

I have done my Tesco order for this week and added some cauliflower cheese grills to try. Although we are going away at the weekend so they might wait to be tried. It's a friend's wedding on the Sunday so we are making a weekend of it by travelling down Friday and staying nearby until Monday morning. I have also done a whole shop in click and collect basket for next week in case I forget about updating basket on the Monday as we will have been travelling.

Brocolli is amazing, and while I like cauliflower brocolli is better. My top three vegetables are probably parsnips, brocolli and sweetcorn. With butternut squash and carrots making the top 5.

tamobhuuta 14-05-2023 09:10 PM

I like peas but the posh petits pois not garden peas. Raw carrot sticks with hummus. I think with broccoli those are my top 3.

Cacoethes 14-05-2023 09:12 PM

For such tiny creatures, they can be VERY loud!

Sounds like you're well organised!

I can't think of a vegetable i don't like tbh!
I was raised veggie for the first 5 or so years of life
My mum often tells the story of her picking at some chicken at a party and i asked her what it was. I got the 'oh, you wouldn't like it!'
The vegetarianism was my dad, not my mum!
But I'll eat most things. Not at all fussy!

one_step_closer 14-05-2023 09:16 PM

Do you like celery, Beckie?

My favourite veg is onions I think.

Cacoethes 14-05-2023 09:18 PM

I like cooked celery!
Love it in a nice soup.
Raw celery is a no.

Onions are an interesting choice!

one_step_closer 14-05-2023 09:20 PM

I like onions in soup and fried onion in burgers etc and big chunks in casserole and sometimes raw in tuna sandwiches.

Cacoethes 14-05-2023 09:26 PM

That makes sense! I like onion in those things too.

My nanny does amazing fried onions. She soaks them in milk or something? And then fries them. Could easily just eat an entire plate of them!

tamobhuuta 14-05-2023 09:26 PM

I had goats cheese and caramelised onion quiche for dinner. Nom.

long road 14-05-2023 09:33 PM

I will eat peas but they are probably my least favourite vegetable. Although raw celery and really leafy green cabbage are close to the bottom. Only vegetable I don't eat is peppers because I have a food intolerance to them.

Onions are amazing but for some reason I don't really think of them as a vegetable. Caramelised Onions are proper lush.

Cacoethes 14-05-2023 09:47 PM

Ooh love a quiche!

I love peppers!
And high in vitamin C! (Which is why the piggos have it every day!)

Yeah i don't either tbh!
But i guess it is a vegetable!

long road 14-05-2023 10:10 PM

King Charles must love quiche too, it's what they put out as his coronation recipe!

Peppers make me so ill if I eat them that I now hate even the smell of peppers because it reminds me of feeling disgusting. I do miss paprika for the smokeyness and chilli for the heat though.

Brocolli is also high in vitamin C.

I guess I think of it as more a flavour enhancer sort of thing like garlic. I put onion as the base of pretty much any sauce I make.

Cacoethes 14-05-2023 10:18 PM

Think it's just something classically british!
I used to make a good quiche from scratch!

That's fair

It is! Guinea pigs can't have it every day though because they get bloat quite easily, caused by veg like broccoli and green beans.
And here i go with the guinea pig facts again XD

I loooove garlic!

long road 14-05-2023 10:29 PM

I haven't made quiche in years. My mum makes a great salmon and brocolli one.

Guinea pig facts for the win! Do the guineas like the brocolli stalk? My friends rabbit went crazy for the brocolli stalk.

Garlic is soo good. I could eat sooooo much garlic bread.

Cacoethes 14-05-2023 10:37 PM

Oooh that sounds nice. I love salmon!
So expensive though :(

They do! Pippin especially! He really gets stuck in!
He loves green beans too. And the crunching noise is adorable.

I could definitely live on garlic bread!
And the M&S garlic doughballs with the garlic butter inside them *chefs kiss*

long road 14-05-2023 10:45 PM

Smoked salmon trimmings can be a more budget friendly way to get salmon for things like quiche and pasta, it comes it little chunks. Half of the price of smoked salmon slices but still £2.20 ish for 120g.

That crunching sound must be amazing. I used to feed aforementioned rabbit and the tortoise when my friend was on holiday and listening to them crunch and cronch was a highlight.

Oooh they sound good. Tesco do a awesome garlic cibstta I used to get. But I am still a big fan of the basic garlic baguette for like 90p

long road 14-05-2023 10:46 PM

BTW I just had a non epileptic seizure so feeling pants. Going to lie down and may disappear from here for a bit.

Ahimsa 14-05-2023 10:59 PM

Are you okay LR?!

long road 14-05-2023 11:09 PM

Yeah I am ok I have them a lot. Although not everyday like I used to. They aren't dangerous for your brain like epileptic ones just whether you hit your head and my partner got to me and protected my head pretty quickly. Just sore and exhausted

Cacoethes 14-05-2023 11:33 PM

Do love smoked salmon too!

It is! It's like ASMR!

Yeah i get the super cheap onea for like 35p!
Really can't tell the difference between that and the branded ones!

Oh no jen :(
I don't think I've ever had a non epileptic seizure but I've known people who have and it really takes it out of them! Just like an epileptic seizure would.

long road 14-05-2023 11:37 PM

they certainly aren't fun. Not had an epileptic one so I can't compare either. I should probably stop screen time as can't think straight but can't really settle to resting.

Cacoethes 14-05-2023 11:45 PM

I hope resting helps!

I should probably head off to bed.
Night!

Ahimsa 14-05-2023 11:54 PM

Night!

I’m just walking home from the pub quiz, I couldn’t find my car keys! I’m going to have to search the house for them tonight because I’m not walking to work at 7am!

Cacoethes 15-05-2023 07:30 AM

Morning everyone!

I really hope you found your car keys beth

Ahimsa 15-05-2023 08:43 AM

I did!!

It’s too early to already be at work, boo!!

How are you?
