Will you talk to your pharmacist about what antihistamine would be ok, Dawn? When's Tesco coming?

I want one of those toilet seats now!

I'm glad your parcel has arrived, NP. Do you have to go to work now or something else?

nonperson 24-04-2023 03:10 PM

Sadly it wasn't an arrival. It was a collection to send back medical equipment that I don't even use that keeps getting to sent to me for some reason! Hopefully that's all done with now.

Nah I won't be going back to work now, not worth it this late in the day, so I will probably spend the rest of the day on the sofa.

Cacoethes 24-04-2023 03:11 PM

Yeah usually meals here are hotter than is necessary

I'm listening to a band called Hot Milk.

Now you can relax np!

nonperson 24-04-2023 03:13 PM

*listens to Hot Milk while searching for a new hoover to buy...* =P

Cacoethes 24-04-2023 03:15 PM

Ooh a new hoover! How exciting! *is old*

Very concerning. Like that is a major food safety error.

If you have a good dream, Jen, I'll help you make it into reality. I'll let you off with the toilet seat. Soft close does sound like a good thing..

I will let you know, so far none of my asleep drams have been worthy of making reality. They get very whacky and have no solid business plans! Appreciate the offer though. Thank you for letting me off!

Wasn't there a phase of those special toilet seats with barbed wire and stuff embedded in the middle?

Parcel person has just been!

I am hoping it will be nice and comfy. It's the little things, toilet seats themselves aren't that exciting but you use them multiple times everyday and so a little improvement can make a big difference to your day!

I remember the barbed wire toilet seat trend, one of the pubs we used to go had them circa 2007 - 2011.

My favourite toilet design is a rolling stones tongue urinal, my male friend came back from the toilets and showed us a photo of it! Which was a weird scenario.

nonperson 24-04-2023 03:25 PM

On Facebook recently I saw a photo of a very inappropriate hand washing sink area in a men's toilet. It's so rude I don't think I can post it here!

long road 24-04-2023 03:27 PM

Hayfever sucks Dawn. I get it worse in February March because I am most allergic to tree pollen. If you haven't tried it I suggest asking pharmacist about steroid nasal spray it really helps my hayfever and as it topical rather than ingested it's less likely there will be interactions

Also we are Tesco buddies, my partner is out getting out click an collect order from Tesco right now. I generally don't allow substitutes though.

Cacoethes 24-04-2023 03:29 PM

This whole ward is a major safety error tbh XD
Yesterday when me and my friend were in the dining room, we heard someone coughing up phlegm from behind the shutter (kitchen)
He made a note of it, and lots of other things to complain about!

I want one of the toilet seats with fishes on it!

I need a new hoover too! But only one room in my flat had carpet (spare bedroom /office) so I have been putting it off. We have mainly wood floors because it's better for my asthma. What options are you looking at? I want a Dyson stick hoover but unsure if it's worth the price.

Oh dear! Maybe you should tell him about today's incident. To add to his list!

Fishies!!! Although I might feel bad sitting on the fishies...

not_so_insig 24-04-2023 03:34 PM

Tesco has been. I am having a rest between putting stuff away. I have done the heavy bottles and put the magnums in the freezer.

Cacoethes 24-04-2023 03:37 PM

I should! Although the patients were complaining loudly enough! XD
No one listens to us though.

Yeah i think i would too

long road 24-04-2023 03:49 PM

Use the power of your friend's NHS email address!!

I have hard floors downstairs and carpet upstairs and so far have a fairly old Dyson stick hoover. But it's old and not very sucky and it's hard to get the dirt out of the tube so I'm looking at an upgrade, another stick one but with more suck power. I think it's worth the price with Dyson and as I already have a lot of the bits I'm looking at one of their new ones but I know there are lots of other similar but cheaper options out there now! Stick ones are so much easier to store and lug up and down the stairs (my stairs are enough of a death risk even without carrying anything...!) Currys are doing a trade-in discount at the moment too although I think I'll be too indecisive and miss it. But sometimes buying direct with Dyson is cheaper if they're doing a good deal with extra accessories.

long road 24-04-2023 03:57 PM

I live in a ground floor flat so stairs are not an issue. But I don't have much storage so think a stick will be beat. Give me a review if you do buy one!

Cacoethes 24-04-2023 03:59 PM

I absolutely should tbh.
Or set my mum on them again. Though i tend to save that for colossal **** ups XD

I do not own a hoover.
I only have wood floors and a rug. So i actually find it easier to just sweep. And there's so much frickin hay everywhere it would probably break a hoover!
Plus the guinea pigs don't like the hoover. And they rule the house. I don't even vape in the house anymore because they don't like the noise XD

long road 24-04-2023 04:06 PM

Guinea Pigs rule in general. You don't really need a hoover with wood floors. I just frustratingly have the one room with carpet.

not_so_insig 24-04-2023 04:09 PM

I have an dyson cordless and an upright hoover. I got them both refurbished from dyson themselves on ebay. I recommend them.

Cacoethes 24-04-2023 04:11 PM

They do indeed!
Yeah i don't really.
That is frustrating! I'd be too scared to rent with carpet. I spill stuff all the time XD

not_so_insig 24-04-2023 04:15 PM

Oh and if there's a lot of hair in your flat I recommend that you get a pikkit. Gets rid of hair on the brush which in turn improves the suction of your hoover. https://www.pikk-it.com/

Ahimsa 24-04-2023 04:22 PM

Hope everyone’s okay?

I had my first in person assessment today. He hasn’t ruled anything in or out and I have another assessment with him next week (if my rota allows, I don’t have it yet even though we’re meant to have a minimum of a month)

He decides either:
- Stay with Medical psych but he’s just the assessor so wouldn’t be with him
- Another type of therapy
- group therapy
- no therapy (it’s too dangerous for me to dig deeper)

Cacoethes 24-04-2023 04:25 PM

Living the dream over here :tongue2:

That sounds very important so i really hope your rota allows for it!

Ahimsa 24-04-2023 04:29 PM

Me too, I’ve been asking for some support for 17 years so I’m really hoping he can offer me something.

Cacoethes 24-04-2023 04:40 PM

Fingers crossed!
Could you call in sick if your rota doesn't allow?
I know financially it can make a big impact, but poor mental health can also make a big impact!

Ahimsa 24-04-2023 04:45 PM

Not really, because I have to then explain ‘why’ I’m ‘sick’

Also, financially it’s not worth it. I’m used to my brain!

Cacoethes 24-04-2023 04:55 PM

I'd just lie. Lol.

But yeah, i get that. Losing a whole day's pay can make such a difference.

Ahimsa 24-04-2023 05:01 PM

Plus I have to phone a minimum of an hour before I start, and then again when my manager starts to tell her. If they put me on an early shift that means phoning by 6am! And then again at 9am.

A late shift means I can go to the appointment and then straight to work like I did today.

Cacoethes 24-04-2023 05:08 PM

Could call in night before saying you have D&V or something?

I really hope you can get to the appointment!

long road 24-04-2023 05:20 PM

I hope you can get to your appointment Beth. Could you put in a request to be on late shift to enable you to go to appointment? Or ask a colleague to shift swap of you get an early shift?

I had super noodles for a late lunch. I have fancy Asian inspired noodles but I wanted slightly rubbish comfort food noodles.

I am a bit blargh and in pain now. But I am also currently not doing anything constrictive about that because reasons. Oh well.

Anyone got any TV show recommendations? I fancy watching something new. I have Amazon prime and a TV license so can watch iPlayer etc. But my aerial doesn't work so can't watch live TV if it isn't streamable.

Cacoethes 24-04-2023 05:22 PM

Love super noodles. Chicken ones are my fav!

I'm currently watching doctor who (again)
As my tv licence very rudely went out today and left me with -39 in my account. So I'm using it goddamn it!!!
I also like to watch nostalgic things. Like things I watched with my siblings as a kid. Watched chicken run recently!

Night before makes no difference though, the rule is the morning of, an hour before you start and again when your manager starts.

I’m hoping someone can swap but I can’t ask til we get the rota.

not_so_insig 24-04-2023 05:27 PM

Jen I very much recommend Keeping Up Appearances on iplayer.

Cacoethes 24-04-2023 05:28 PM

Well that's a bit crap!
Sounds a bit stricter than my work!
People shift swap on a daily basis. But there are like 50 of us tbh

long road 24-04-2023 05:45 PM

My partner has fitted the new toilet seat so thats sorted.

I am trying to muster up the energy to hang up the washing.

one_step_closer 24-04-2023 05:51 PM

You've all been chatting loads since I was last here. It's hard to keep up! I've read everything but sorry if I miss things out.

I really hope you can get to your next appointment, Beth.

I have a Shark hoover, not a stick one but all Shark hoovers are supposedly good.

Sorry you're in pain now, Jen. *gentle hugs* did you find something to watch on TV? Do you have a lot of washing to hang up? Will it make you feel worse pain wise?

long road 24-04-2023 06:41 PM

I am watching a drama about WW1 not the most cheerful thing but quite interesting. I might put something more cheerful on next.

Washing is hung up it was two airers worth. I feel a little worse but it needed doing and couldn't wait for my partner the do it. There is washing up that needs doing too but considering leaving that for my partner. Might do some of it, I'm not sure.

It is what it is.

Cacoethes 24-04-2023 06:58 PM

Well done jen!
Just do what you can do, I'm sure your partner will understand! They sound very helpful.

It turns out the oven is broken, which will be why the food was still frozen at lunch. Dinner was early because they had to use the oven on the kids unit upstairs.
They probably should have noticed that before serving it at lunch. Clearly not using the thermometer

long road 24-04-2023 07:02 PM

I am not doing the best explained more in my serious thread. He said I should just rest and didn't have to do anything, but I'm putting pressure on myself to do things.

long road 24-04-2023 07:03 PM

Also surely they should have noticed the trays were cold getting them out fo the oven! Incompetent doesn't begin to describe it.

Cacoethes 24-04-2023 07:10 PM

No pressure! Only rest!
I get that though

It was probably the guy that talks on the phone with airpods the whole time he's serving food.
I went and asked for a cup of tea at breakfast the other day and had to wait for him to turn around and see me because he couldn't hear me :plain:
He was actually in there during the phlegm incident so it could well have been him

long road 24-04-2023 08:01 PM

Haven't washed up. Haven't really rested either. Partner is awake and we are trying to decide what to do about dinner.

This ward sounds like it's is rather rubbish to put it politely.

Cacoethes 24-04-2023 08:18 PM

I vote takeaway!

It is utterly **** tbh!
Only one out of four showers is in action atm as well XD
But i have managed to shower and even changed my sheets!
I'm gonna pay for that tomorrow XD

one_step_closer 24-04-2023 09:02 PM

Both of you look after yourselves! That is an order!

Cacoethes 24-04-2023 09:10 PM

Yes sir!!! :tongue2:

What are you up to?
I'm hoping there's still hot chocolate. Things run out fast.

one_step_closer 24-04-2023 09:14 PM

You better, I really mean it! I hope you can get some hot chocolate, when are hot drinks available?

I'm on here instead of watching TV because I'm bored of TV right now. Which kind of means breaking my rules but a TV is a screen and a laptop is a screen and I usually watch TV up till 8.30pm and then there are no screens so it won't matter as long as I switch my laptop off at 8.30pm or before.

Cacoethes 24-04-2023 09:18 PM

I will. I don't think i have anything to do tomorrow except possibly dietician. So I'll just chill.
8:30, but i heard some shouting earlier and checks haven't been done in about 45 mins so i assume something is occurring. So supper may be late.

Sounds like a decent compromise. There really isn't a lot on tv these days.

Ahimsa 24-04-2023 09:43 PM

I have had a discussion with my cats and they say you all need to look after yourselves! ;)

I'm home from work, yay!

my appointment was weird, its an assessment but he hasn't ruled anything in or out yet of the 4 options available to me after this. He didnt ask me the things I thought he would, and he was very focused on things that I didnt think were that important.

Cacoethes 24-04-2023 09:53 PM

Well if the cats say it.... ;p

Woohoo! Anything planned for the evening?

Sometimes it's hard to rule stuff out in just one appointment i guess?
They do that sometimes. One of the drs did that to me in ward round when i got here and it was like....???

Ahimsa 24-04-2023 09:58 PM

Well, there's 4 options of support and he hadn't made a decision. So we'll see!

Yus, the cats are very smart so we has to listen to them. They say I have to stay warm and cosy and do NONE of the things tonight. So I'm going to make some pasta, and eat it in bed!
