When I was in hosptial last there were 2 hot meals a day both with the option of cake and custard and usually some other kind of pudding.
Seemed a bit much to me!

It's the same here. As well as tea and cake in the afternoon. Cakecakecake. There are apples too...

We also had supper at about 9pm.
Toast and bascially whatever was in the kitchen like leftover sandwiches.

It all seeems very unnecessary.

I have to admit pretty much the only part of being in hosp I liked (only psych-our local med hosp banned toast a few years ago for 'fire safety reasons' -_-) was the endless toast with real butter as opposed to marg at supper :P Is pretty hard to eat healthy in there though, like you say tended be two fairly big hot meals a day then a lot of toast and although not cake in our case biscuits other stuff.
