Nor can I! My Dad is an assistant manager/welder in a factory, and has been working there since before I was born (I'm 30 now). He really, really hates it. It pays very well though and he's used to a certain standard of living. He could get by on a lower wage, and I often wish he'd just find a job that doesn't make him dread going in every day. So what if he can't afford to order something on Amazon every day, you know?

Oh that sounds really, really interesting. Especially the rare plants part. It is really cool that you look after things that are one of only a handful in the country. Saving them is important work. It's great that you have a job that you're passionate about. I think it's vital to have something in your life that ignites a kind of spark in you.

Yeah, I've heard that it's good for people dealing with difficult life stuff too. My Uncle actually did his very first horticulture qualification when he was in active treatment for his addiction. The treatment centre used it as a kind of therapy thing. It really works/works for him.

nonperson 01-01-2018 03:59 AM

I suppose it was a kind of therapy for me too in a way. I got into it at the start of all my mental health problems....

My dad is a metalworker, so does a bit of welding from time to time but he now employs a welder and owns his own metal fabricating business. The difference is he actually enjoys it! Weird coincidence, I guess.

Morning all :)

Cacoethes 01-01-2018 01:05 PM

Afternoon!

Aubergine 01-01-2018 01:48 PM

Hey! :)

Cacoethes 01-01-2018 02:15 PM

Hi aubergine!

Im just back from asda.
Weather was fine when i went in, when I came out it was torrential rain and wind so strong it broke my umbrella!!

Aubergine 01-01-2018 02:23 PM

Oh no! Poor umbrella! British weather is weird. How was asda?

Cacoethes 01-01-2018 02:26 PM

It is indeed!
Asda was pretty empty today!
I guess everyone will have hangovers today!

How are you?

Aubergine 01-01-2018 02:41 PM

I expect they have!

I'm alright thanks. Tired! At my Mum's for lunch. My sister has been really rude and selfish towards my parents since I've been here though. Want to bop her on the nose!

Cacoethes 01-01-2018 02:45 PM

That sounds frustrating!
Hope you manage to enjoy your lunch though

nonperson 01-01-2018 02:46 PM

Afternoon all.

Buttons. 01-01-2018 02:47 PM

Weather mad here too, luckily it only started to rain heavy as dog and I were leaving the dog park.

Hope you enjoy your lunch Aubergjbe despite your sister x

Buttons. 01-01-2018 02:47 PM

Hey there np :)

Cacoethes 01-01-2018 02:48 PM

Hi nonperson
How are you?

Glad you manage to miss the worst of it buttons!

Buttons. 01-01-2018 02:58 PM

Yeah just about missed the worst of it I’m sat there in the wheelchair with support worker and we are both like lady lady lady please leave the random equally hyperactive Labrador at some point. Then the rain sort of said it for us :p lady still seems to operate under the belief that rain water will eat her

Hope you’re doing okay Beckie

Cacoethes 01-01-2018 02:59 PM

Haha!!

You up to much today?

Buttons. 01-01-2018 03:01 PM

Just walking the dog and pretending that I don’t exist. You?

Cacoethes 01-01-2018 03:24 PM

Watching films and downloading music.
And trying not to eat my entire kitchen
My body hasn't yet adjusted to eating a normal amount after Christmas :p

Sketchy 01-01-2018 04:04 PM

Afternoon all and happy new year to all those who I didn’t speak to last night. I hope 2018 brings everyone here happiness!

Sketchy 01-01-2018 04:35 PM

Deciding what chocolates to eat next. I swear I’m going to turn into chocolate!

Cpt_Stunning 01-01-2018 04:37 PM

I can't get the Pogues Christmas song out of my head

Sketchy 01-01-2018 04:38 PM

It’s so annoying when you get a song stuck in your head.

Aubergine 01-01-2018 04:40 PM

Oh chocolate is so good! I have no more chocolate. :'(

I love that Christmas song!

Sketchy 01-01-2018 04:43 PM

I got an insane amount of chocolate for Christmas and my birthday, so I’m all stocked up for ages! Makes being healthy that little bit harder though!

How are you Aubergine?

Cacoethes 01-01-2018 05:00 PM

I don't have any chocolate left either!

Aubergine 01-01-2018 05:01 PM

Lovely! I might see if the little chocolate shop is open tomorrow. :)

I'm ok. My sister has now gone out and we are watching a film. :)

Sketchy 01-01-2018 05:03 PM

That’s a good plan Aubergine. It’s always good to treat yourself. I’m not allowing myself to eat chocolate until I’ve done a bit of housework. It will be my reward. Resting for an hour and then I’ll get to work.

Cacoethes 01-01-2018 05:11 PM

It is good to treat yourself!
I keep buying terrys chocolate oranges. I can't stop myself!!

Aubergine 01-01-2018 05:12 PM

Rewarding yourself with chocolate sounds like an excellent plan! I might pop by tesco express on the way home and do the same... Really must get my flat up together.

Sketchy 01-01-2018 05:13 PM

I have a chocolate orange too. So tasty! It’s the time of year for it.

Sketchy 01-01-2018 05:13 PM

Good plan Aubergine.

Aubergine 01-01-2018 05:20 PM

Ooo chocolate oranges!

Cacoethes 01-01-2018 05:38 PM

Love choclate oranges!

Aubergine 01-01-2018 05:46 PM

Mum's just put Charlie and the Chocolate Factory on the tv!

Cacoethes 01-01-2018 05:46 PM

That's a good film!

Aubergine 01-01-2018 05:56 PM

It's on ITV. Really need to go home and tidy though!

Cacoethes 01-01-2018 06:09 PM

Im watchng it too now!
Just out of the shower.

I need to tidy too :/
Tidying is just so awful though!!

Cpt_Stunning 01-01-2018 07:05 PM

Tidying can take so much out of your day

Aubergine 01-01-2018 07:07 PM

Did you enjoy the film, Beckie? Showers are good.

Tidying is awful. I hate it. I tell myself every time I tidy that I won't let it get like that again, and every time it gets like it again... I'm sure gremlins come and mess it up more when I'm asleep! :P

Cacoethes 01-01-2018 07:39 PM

Im watching iron man 2 now.
I love Robert Downey Jr!

I tell myself the exact same thing aubergine!
Every damn time!

Aubergine 01-01-2018 07:56 PM

Iron man 2 is good! I love those films, and I'm not really into Marvel stuff. I'm listening to Einaudi and telling myself that at 19:00 I must move by bum and tidy.

Cacoethes 01-01-2018 08:08 PM

I love them too.

Think how much better you'll feel once its done!!

Aubergine 01-01-2018 08:12 PM

I'll feel pretty fabulous once it's done, you're right. Right, Team Tidy - GO! See you in a bit. :D

Cacoethes 01-01-2018 08:15 PM

Good luck!!!

Aubergine 01-01-2018 08:44 PM

I have put a load of laundry on and tidied all of my cardboard and plastic and put it in the recycling. Well, kind of. Someone seems to have stolen both of my recycling boxes, so I have just kind of stuffed it behind my big black bin, where it will have to stay until recycling day! I'm now going to sit until 19:55, when I will start again...

Cacoethes 01-01-2018 08:46 PM

Sounds like you're doing well!
It's good to set times for yourself
Annoying about the recycling boxes though

Aubergine 01-01-2018 08:52 PM

Thanks! I will only do it if I set a time for myself haha. It is annoying about the recycling boxes. Though I don't think the recycling/bin people help. I found my black bin way up the road the other day!

Aubergine 01-01-2018 08:57 PM

Time to go again!

Cacoethes 01-01-2018 09:00 PM

Thats annoying.
Bin people here seem to be fairly good..
Well, except they sometimes dump them across the entrance to the car park but that doesn't affect me cos o dont drive.

Have fun!

Sketchy 01-01-2018 09:06 PM

After a long nap, I finally moved and did some housework. I’ve earned my chocolates!
