We're having some really hard times in the world right now.

Were you just looking for a dress? Could you wear a blouse and trousers?

Cacoethes 02-12-2022 03:41 PM

We are indeed

I looked at most things but there really wasn't anything i liked.
It's all sparkly party wear at the moment!
Found one nice dress in River Island but it was £50!!!

tamobhuuta 02-12-2022 04:55 PM

That's a bit steep.

Cacoethes 02-12-2022 05:04 PM

Yep!
I did find a nice dress on boohoo.com for less than £7 though! So that's a win! Next day delivery.

one_step_closer 02-12-2022 05:45 PM

That was lucky, next day delivery too.

Cacoethes 02-12-2022 05:49 PM

Yep!
Just hope it looks ok!

one_step_closer 02-12-2022 05:53 PM

Fingers crossed. It's funny seeing some things people buy online that are nothing like they showed on the site or are tiny things instead of normal size. I'm terrible for not understanding measurements but I've not had any real disasters with it so far.

Cacoethes 02-12-2022 05:55 PM

Yes i love those posts!
Mostly from Wish. Lol
I rarely look at measurements. I do look at reviews though and they usually give clues!

one_step_closer 02-12-2022 06:02 PM

Yeah. I prefer reviews that also include photos so you can have a bit more of an idea of how things look IRL.

Cacoethes 02-12-2022 06:21 PM

Yes! Those are always helpful!
At least for the price, it won't be the end of the world if it doesn't fit!

tamobhuuta 02-12-2022 06:56 PM

Hi peoples! I'm starving, waiting for my star of a mum to bring me burger king.

Cacoethes 02-12-2022 07:29 PM

Yummy!

Beats my dinner of asda essentials cheese and tomato pasta! XD
Though it is really nice tbf
And only 90p!

not_so_insig 02-12-2022 07:51 PM

Hello all. I didnt go swimming in the end as the person I go with was unwell. But I had an unexpected parcel and amazon. My mum was there so had to sneak my amazon parcel away from my mum as would only get an lecture.

tamobhuuta 02-12-2022 08:48 PM

Can I ask what the parcels were?

not_so_insig 02-12-2022 09:24 PM

A postage box was one of them. I dont want to say what the other is on a public forum (don't worry it's nothing illegal or immoral). Just that I dont want it mentioned on Facebook and I have some rylers on there.

Cacoethes 03-12-2022 09:35 AM

Morning everyone!

Zurg 03-12-2022 10:44 AM

Morning Beckie.

It's cold here and it snowed while i was fetching parcels and doing some grocery shopping. My fingers have yet to defrost in spite of gloves.

How are you?

Cacoethes 03-12-2022 10:49 AM

Oh nooo!
It is pretty cold!
Pouring down with rain here!

I'm ok!

tamobhuuta 03-12-2022 11:21 AM

Hi guys. According to my phone it's 6 here but feels like 3.

Cacoethes 03-12-2022 12:08 PM

6 here as well!
Just put the heating on. Mainly for the guinea pigs tbh!

not_so_insig 03-12-2022 12:45 PM

4 degrees here according to Google (my phone doesn't show my village but the next one). Plus alexa agrees with me.

nonperson 03-12-2022 01:53 PM

Afternoon all.

BBC weather says it's 7 degrees in my closest town.

one_step_closer 03-12-2022 02:06 PM

It's supposedly 5 degrees here and dropping with time. All I know is my house is freezing and I'm trying to stay warm with a blanket and a cat. I had to go and collect my prescription today because they don't deliver on Saturdays. I just had to stand outside and they passed it out to me but I felt worried being out while I'm still unwell. My frickin trousers keep falling down too, they're drawstring ones and I really should get ones you can use a belt with but it's hard to find one with actual pockets and enough pockets that I need.

Cacoethes 03-12-2022 02:06 PM

Saying 7 here now too!

Just got an 8kg box of hay delivered but nowhere to put it!

What a pain lindsay!
Do you have a hot water bottle?
Mine really helps!

one_step_closer 03-12-2022 02:11 PM

Just put the hay in the middle of your living room like it's a table or a decorative thing.

I do have a hot water bottle but can't move to get it right now. It's the top half of me that's getting cold.

What has everyone been getting up to?

Cacoethes 03-12-2022 02:22 PM

Haha! Could do!

Ah i see.
Have you got the heating on?

nonperson 03-12-2022 02:27 PM

I think it's acceptable to move a cat if you're not warm enough!

Get some long sleeved t-shirts/thermals and layer up under a jumper and a blanket.

Cacoethes 03-12-2022 02:32 PM

The electric throws are supposed to be good too!

one_step_closer 03-12-2022 02:34 PM

I don't have the heating on. I'm wearing long sleeves under a jumper but at night I wear long sleeved PJs with 2 jumpers and my dressing gown.

I have an electric throw but worry that Crookshanks will chew through the wires.

I might need some thermals.

How are you all keeping warm?

tamobhuuta 03-12-2022 02:37 PM

I'm wearing an oodie.

Cacoethes 03-12-2022 02:40 PM

I just have a t shirt and jumper on. And a hot water bottle. I have the heating on for short bursts!

one_step_closer 03-12-2022 02:41 PM

Two good plans, Tamo and Beckie.

tamobhuuta 03-12-2022 02:46 PM

You must really like feeling toasty osc!

nonperson 03-12-2022 02:47 PM

How cold does it get in your house at night?!

I just have a t-shirt and jumper on too. And a cat on my lap. Had the heating on this morning and had a shower and a cupasoup. All the warm things.

I'm supposedly going out to pick a Christmas tree later though.

tamobhuuta 03-12-2022 02:49 PM

Ooo that's fun np

nonperson 03-12-2022 02:51 PM

Not really. I get a free one from work and give it away to my friend's sister but I have to go pick it up.

Cacoethes 03-12-2022 02:51 PM

Oooh Christmas tree!
I have a tiny 1ft tree made out of multicoloured tinsel...that is the extent of my decorating!

My family always get a ridiculously huge tree.
Like, needing a full on ladder to decorate it...

nonperson 03-12-2022 02:56 PM

If they've got the space then why not.

I don't decorate anything at all, except the usual display at work. That's enough for me.

Zurg 03-12-2022 02:57 PM

I've had the heating on for months now!!! I can't be arsed with being cold and i'd rather pay up than freeze inside….
Our heating bills Will increase this season. Someone did a terrible job of something and an entire container full of wood pellets burned to ashes in our local power and heating plant his autumn. Millions of tons of wooden pellets!!! I really Think the one responsible owe us all a 'i-screwed-up' beer!!!
Took the firefighters more than a month to kill that fire!!! People in the town close by had to be evacuated if they suffered from asthma or things like that….. our city smelled terrible for weeks!!!

Oooh, a Christmas tree NP??? That sounds merry!!! My Christmas tree is made from the finest plastic you can make in the far east of our world!!!!
Findus would prefer a real tree, i Think.

Cacoethes 03-12-2022 02:59 PM

The tree always looks great but it seems like a lot of fuss for a short period of time. Each to their own though!

Ooof that sounds very dramatic zurg!

Zurg 03-12-2022 04:41 PM

I shall personally seize any chance to throw lots of pretty stuff up on anything at any occasion :D
I love a good Christmas tree!!!

Cacoethes 03-12-2022 04:45 PM

Haha! Fair enough!
My neighbour has put up a load of lights and they look great! I would just worry about the electric being used!
I do like seeing all the lights when walking home

Cacoethes 03-12-2022 04:46 PM

And omg Merry just sneezed and then wiped his nose with his paws and it's the most adorable thing I've ever seen XD

tamobhuuta 03-12-2022 04:48 PM

In our family most of us want the biggest tree we can fit in the living room but my mum campaigns for a more sensible size! Usually we decorate the weekend before Christmas Day.

There's been decorating going on on the ward but I don't want to imagine Christmas here.

Cacoethes 03-12-2022 04:49 PM

I've spent many Christmases in hospital.
They do try their best.
Last one was 2020. We were in tier 4 so no leave and no visits. Not that I got visits anyway!
Spent most of the day crying

one_step_closer 03-12-2022 05:25 PM

I hope you are home before Christmas, Tamo.

*hugs Beckie*

It gets really cold at night here plus I have the heating set to come on at 16.5 degrees because a gas person told me that was as low as it should go to avoid burst pipes when I was in hospital. That's why I wear lots to bed but I do take them off through the night sometimes. I was extra hot because of covid but last night I was cold.

Oh, and Dawn wherever you are (hope you see this, didn't know if I should PM) I got your card today. Thank you, it's very cute too!

Cacoethes 03-12-2022 06:18 PM

I'm never cold in bed somehow!
I do have a very good duvet tbf

maii 03-12-2022 06:20 PM

HI everyone!
Unfortunately, we have electric heating so its very costly, so we close the doors if we're not in the room and use an electric blanket at night.

Zurg 03-12-2022 06:39 PM

I was on a section many years ago at the beginning of december. We were asked to put up Christmas decorations around our specific part of the ward. I clearly remember me trodding around and hanging up nice and pretty stuff and about half an hour later, a nurse followed in my foot steps and removed all the stuff. Apparently there are strict rules about what you can hang things on to. And apparently no one bothered to inform us about that….
That was one of the more terrible admittances. The staff were horrible. But most of the time they also weren't present…. We only really had each other as patients to talk to.

I wish i could put an Christmas hat on Findus and take a pic :D

Cacoethes 03-12-2022 06:42 PM

When i was at the priory when I was 15, the staff put up lovely Christmas decorations and me and my friend ran around ripping them all down XD
Spent that Christmas on 1:1 with the happiest support worker ever. She woke me up by singing a Christmas song :plain:

In my guinea pig groups there are SO many adorable pics of guinea pigs with santa hats on!
