Hi guys.
|
Ah the good ol' days XD
Were they all corded house phones? |
Hey ninja Tamo! How're you?
|
Hi np :) I'm ok. Do you have any plans for today?
|
Yes, I have the incredibly fun and enjoyable task of cleaning the entire house >.<
...which I am clearly not doing right now. Glad you're ok =) Are you up to anything today? |
Good luck with the cleaning! Just a normal day for me, including Desperate Housewives.
|
Hi tamo!
It was those brick phones np! And the teenagers had to take an actual camera with them to a party because the phones had no camera! |
It was the stone ages!
|
It was!
I feel so old. I used to watch the bill when I was a kid! Before I even got a mobile phone! |
I remember my first mobile - a Nokia 3310
|
Good old indestructible Nokia 3310!
My first phone was a little Samsung. It did actually have a camera! I was the first in my family and at school to have a camera phone. Picture quality was bloody awful though! XD |
It's so weird to think that youngsters today don't know a world without mobile phones/internet/wifi/flat screen tvs...
I made the mistake of talking about old DOS computer games with one of my students last year. Never going to forget the look I was given when I explained that DOS was the "operating system" before Windows was even a thing. Now that really shows my age! |
Oh and my first mobile was a 3310 too! With a bright blue case. I remember the days of the case shattering all over the place when it was dropped!
|
I know!
Kids these days don't know how good they've got it. Never missing a tv show due to catchup tv, being able to pause tv and skip ads, being able to find out an answer to any question within seconds.... Yep! Everything would fall out! Now if you drop your phone you just have to hope and pray that the screen hasn't smashed! |
In Keeping Up Appearances Hyacinth gets a mobile phone. It's so big and thick compared to modern phones. It didn't have a contacts list as Hyacinth actually dials the number at one point. Some phones didn't have text messaging in the 1990s.
|
How weird!
I've been applying for jobs! |
It was 1995 when Hyacinth had a phone. Hyacinth panics when she thinks it isn't on charge. Some things never change.
|
What kind of job are you looking for Cacoethes?
|
Anything really!
I've applied for several customer service roles and a couple of bar staff jobs because I haven't done that before! And the pubs in town are generally pretty quiet because we have so many! |
I hope you find a good fit.
|
Thank you :)
It's going to be difficult as I have so many long gaps in my CV but all I need is an interview to show them how willing I am to work and I'm sure I'll have a chance! |
That's exciting, Beckie! Fingers crosses you get some interviews =)
|
Thank you np!
How's the cleaning going? |
Slowly. And I hate feeling so grimey from cleaning. It makes no sense. Cleaning should make me feel clean!
|
I know the feeling!
But at least you're getting it done! I've just had a message from one of the pubs asking if I'm still interested and that they want to discuss the next stage with me! :O |
Ooh speedy reply =o
|
I have washed my hair.
|
Nice one.
|
Very speedy np!
Hopefully that means they haven't had many applications and I have a chance! |
Oooh my postcard to the Netherlands arrived.
That reminds me i must register a postcard that I had the other day. |
I was promised a thunderstorm today but I only got 30 seconds of rain!
|
I have had a heavy downpour but no thunderstorms yet.
|
I have a job interview for tomorrow! :O
|
Just had a heavy downpour here. Had to close the back door because it was coming in sideways under the porch! No thunder though, think it's missing the south and heading up the east of the country/ North Sea.
Whoa! =o Interview practise time?? |
Yep!
I've already asked my brother for tips as he's had a job in a few pubs. He gave me a couple of buzzwords to slip in and to just relax! |
I imagine interviews for pub jobs are fairly informal.
|
I think so.
He said they were pretty casual. I really wasn't expecting a response so soon! |
Probably better to have a quick response than wait around for ages to hear anything!
|
True!
I've been reading up about possible questions for pub interviews I hope I remember it all! How's the cleaning going? |
I've just got both rooms upstairs to do and then the bathroom. =(
|
Good luck!
You can do it! |
Well done Cacoethes.
|
Thanks tamo!
How's your day been? |
It was fun. L and I watched Raya and the last dragon.
|
Awesome!
I've been meaning to watch that. Is it good? |
Ooh that's on my watchlist too!
I'm mostly done with cleaning. Still need to hoover the stairs and clean a patch of floor behind the cat tower but that's it really. There are still cobwebs all over the ceilings though, I hope the electricians won't be tall... |
Morning all.
The electrician turned up three hours early...! Good luck with the job interview today, Beckie! |
Morning np!
Well done for doing all that cleaning! Three hours early?! Thank you! I'm nervous! |
We’ll he actually turned up at 8am and then people spent an hour trying to get hold of me. I’d booked a half day leave from 11:45 because he said 12! So my half day is now until 1pm and I have to go back to work after. Weird day!
Good news is that my work phone actually has mobile signal at home so I’m not cut off from the world after all. When’s the interview? You’ll be fine. It’s just a friendly chat =) |
That is strange!
Yay that's good! He said any time after 2 so I'm going to leave the house at 2. It's only a 10 minute walk. Thanks :) |
All times are GMT +1. The time now is 02:38 PM. |
