It made me laugh. =P
Did you ever try to be a Bex? |
Sometimes I get called Bex!
By family and my best friend And the owner of the local tattoo studio |
Or Bec?
My nickname continuously evolved through primary school and high school. Some people who I was at school with still use my nickname and I'm like, no, I'm just Lindsay now. |
My name isn't very easy to shorten to anything so it's never been a problem.
I don't like it when people assume that a name should be shortened. |
Bec happens too sometimes!
I was Rebecca until year 8. Then I was Beckie. Apart from family and close friends who call me Becca or Bex. Jasmine's name gets shortened quite a lot. To Jaz or Jazzy |
Does she like it? I kinda like Jaz as a shortening but wouldn't assume that's what she'd want to be called. Not sure about Jazzy. Makes me think of Jazzy Jeff. =P
I dunno why no one ever tried shorten mine really. It is possible, but "Chlo" or "Clo" just sounds so lame. |
She's never objected!
The adults I know that call her Jazzy have all asked her if she minds And we as a family generally call her Jaz Your name is quite short as it is so maybe that's why? |
My brother has a really special nickname for me based on what we used to watch together and if anyone else calls me it I go mental, ha.
Also hate being called Ali in formal settings, I don't mind my friends calling me it but like teachers and support workers and things, I prefer my actual name. |
Haha!
I get that. I would find it weird if like someone from the cmht would call me Beckie |
I feel it blurs the boundaries ab bit, kind of feels overfamiliar
|
I think that's probably why I feel weird about it
|
A sign of me watching too much Doctor Who recently is that this conversation has led me to think about what my Time Lord name would be, because they don't ever shorten those and they sound sufficiently formal!
|
Interesting thought!
I haven't watched Doctor who in ages! Do love it though |
I rewatched the whole of the last series and the new episode from Sunday night. It's not the same as it used to be but still worth watching.
|
I have only watched a few of the first episodes with the female Doctor. I have a lot to be catching up with!
|
Only a couple of series. =)
|
David Tennant is my all time favourite Doctor.
How about you? |
I prefer Peter Davison. Especially Black Orchid.
|
Ah definitely David Tennant. Or Tom Baker if we're going oldskool. I think the old and new have to be treated as two separate things really.
|
Yes I agree
Old skool daleks were hilarious though |
All the old monsters and aliens were!
The ones that truly scared me were the ones from the "Robots of Death" story. |
Yep!
Although apparently my aunty used to be terrified of the daleks when she was younger. And my mum, being the sympathetic little sister, took the piss out of her for it I don't remembered that episode! I don't like the weeping angels Or the ood Just remembered I have to shower tonight Uggggghhhhh |
I've never watched Doctor Who.
The football pitch behind my house got new lights put in so they wouldn't have to use the generator any more but I'm sure I can still hear the generator right now. I hope your shower doesn't take too much effort Beckie. You'll feel nice and clean afterwards. |
Haha! My mum used to chase me and my sister around the house when we were really young yelling "Exterminate!"
Weeping Angels are terrifying! One of the best enemies though. =) Ugh, go get it out of the way. |
Maybe you're just so used to hearing it that you think you still can, Lindsay? o.O
|
No, it's definitely on and off. Don't know what they're doing. Can't look out the window because I have a cat on my lap.
|
Ah well maybe they're using it for something else.
|
That sounds irritating Lindsay! Is it very loud?
Haha! That sounds fun np :p When I was in Prague there was a whole church yard full of weeping angel type statues! |
It is loud but I'm used to it.
Got a cat wanting his dinner early now. Weeping angels sound scary. |
Don't cats always want dinner? Lol
They are! |
Not when they're asleep! It's nearly his dinner time and he knows it and starts moaning for it early to just in case I happen to forget.
|
Bless him
I don't really know much about cats I'm more of a dog person |
I like dogs too but wouldn't want to have to walk them lots or pick up their poo. I'm too lazy for walks.
|
Picking up the poo is the worst bit!
I'm too lazy for walks too really, but if I had a dog I'd have to walk! |
Because I've been home nearly constantly for five days the cat thinks it's food time all day long... >.<
Dog poo is the definitely the worst bit. I actually miss dog walking. It becomes routine and it's nice having a little fluffy buddy to walk with and did me good to force me out of the house for quiet time/walking time/adventure time. |
Haha!
Dog walking can be really nice Definitely good for the old mental health! |
Agreed. Although for me dog walking was always a bit stressful because of my massively badly behaved giant puppydog. So y'know...
But the moments where we had unexpected adventures or discovered new places or just sat down together somewhere peaceful are all good memories. |
Yeah.
We have one of those! Sparkles (collie) is very well behaved. Charley (giant schnauzer) is not. She likes to swim in the river then jump up at anyone who dares walk past! Aww that does sound good :) |
Morning everyone!
|
Morning. How's it going?
|
Not bad thanks!
Just had someone pick up one of the storage boxes so I'm glad that's out of the way! How about you? |
Ah that's good they weren't sitting around for ages.
I'm just sat here with a cat on my lap, pondering the day. |
Yep!
I still have one to get rid of because it has a huge crack in it so can't really give it away. It's quite big though! Do you have much to do today? |
Hello both.
I'm glad your boxes are sorted Cacoethes. Np in the morning I spend a bit of time thinking about my mission for the day. |
Hey tamo
I don't tend to think about my day I just do stuff lol |
How odd!
|
Like, i know what tasks I have to do for the day but I don't really think about them!
|
I think about everything, too much.
Thinking about phone calls I need to make, when to shower, when/what to eat, my increasingly-ignored list of chores, life, blah blah blah. My head doesn't stop! And that's why I don't ever get any of it done because I spend too much time being paralysed by thinking =| I think it's a good thing to set an intention for the day, tamo. We used to do that in yoga classes, like... did we want to feel stretched, or feel strong and balanced physically/mentally or feel focused afterwards. It was interesting. |
That sounds tough np
I wish I could suggest something! I think it is good to set an intention for the day I just got really bad cramp in my foot Most unpleasant! |
I hate foot cramp, it makes it hard to walk!
