Yeah I did get it in, and popped it in the dryer just to finish it off. How are you?
|
My weather app is saying 'potential disruptions due to thunderstorms' from 9am to tonight.
It is still bright sun and warm! |
I love British weather!
|
Definitely keeps us on our toes! XD
|
Better move here then, Beckie. I've got a spare room but may need to chuck you out over Christmas for my brother coming!
I hope the medical review is ok, whatever it entails. At least the rest of your day's weather has been good. Do your clothes now smell of dryer rather than fresh air, Tamo? I've not been doing much, moved things for the gas check tomorrow and put a washing on. Need to be up at 8am tomorrow so can't be unplugging my alarm clock! |
Yeah, but they smell of dryer most if the year due to unreliable weather.
Well done for moving things! What are you up to tomorrow? |
I have a washing machine and dryer combo and it leaves my washing smelling weird sometimes.
Tomorrow I just have to wait in for the gas people coming in the morning to do their regular safety check. Then go to the chemist and back home to wash my hair and hoover. Do you have anything planned? |
No plans.
|
Why are my glasses always so disgusting? They get smeary bits on them that are hard to clean off and I don't even touch the lenses through the day! What's the best way to clean glasses my fellow glasses friends?
|
Just tea and TV and seeing how the day goes, Tamo?

Evening folks.
I'm not a glasses wearer but isn't vinegar good for cleaning glass? Probably don't want that near your nose though. |
I bought a box of wipes from wilkos, individually wrapped.
Doctors isn't on on Fridays sadly. |
I've got no fog wipes which I use sometimes. Or I clean them under the cold tap and wipe them with kitchen roll. The alien smear remains a lot of the time though.
Boo to Doctors not being on. Will you watch something else? How's things, NP and Jenna? |
That sounds like a very practical solution to keeping glasses clean, tamo!
Is there something you watch on Fridays instead? |
Have you tried the spray you get Lindsay? I can’t remember what its called, but I spray it on my glasses and I find it better than wipes.
Although be careful though because I sprayed it on my glasses at work once and then was accused of drinking because I ‘smelled like alcohol’ but that was a one off. |
If it's a greasy sort of smear then water probably won't shift it.
Things are alright... Had a hugely unexciting appointment at the diabetes clinic today... and some genuinely exciting visitors at work so it's been a mixed sort of day. |
And now I know how to get away with drinking at work - start wearing glasses XD
I jest obviously! |
I think I have a lenses spray somewhere. Will need to look it out.
Who were your exciting visitors, NP? |
Lol NP!

I might watch something on the iplayer, or listen to my audiobook. I'm on The Fifth Elephant by Terry Pratchett.
|
What's that about? I have of course heard of Terry Pratchett but have no idea about his writing.
|
You've got plenty of options to keep yourself occupied instead then tamo.
My visitors were a couple of people who are really into a certain group of plants that we grow and were helping us identify our wrongly labelled plants, so we had a walk around the nursery and garden and geeked out for a couple of hours. >=B |
I hope the visitors improved your day and you can have a nice evening too, NP.
|
Sounds fun :)
Um it's about a chief police type person who gets sent on a diplomatic mission which gets messy. There are dwarves and trolls and vampires and werewolves. |
Almost includes everything, Tamo!
|
Pretty much! In other books there are imps, gnomes, orcs you name it!
|
That does sound good. =o
I... am going to throw a big one out there and announce that I don't think I've ever read a Terry Pratchett book! |
Yay for exciting visitors np! And is an unexciting diabetes clinic good news in that things are going OK?
Hope you enjoy whatever media you choose tamo :) How are you Lindsay? |

I thought I was the only one!!

Oh no, it was unexciting as in, naturally, I don't conform to standard management tactics and they don't know what to do with me so we're trying a slightly different thing and see if that improves anything (but I am doubtful...) |
Oh no that is never a fun thing NP. My asthma can be a bit like that.
I ended up having a nap from 1pm - 4:30pm. Then have been watching MasterChef since then. About to have risotto for dinner and then call my parents for a quick catch up chat. |
Evening!
|
My friend who worked at an optician recommended using a bit of straight washing up liquid on each lense to cut through the grease and then rinsing thoroughly with water. It works well and is cheaper than lens spray.
It also now bright sun here. |

Diabetes is unbelievably complicated and unpredictable. It's hard when even the professionals don't quite know how you keep you safe, isn't it?
Sounds like a nice evening ahead, Jen. Evening Beckie. How was taekwondo? |
I just clean my glasses on my t shirt....
The wipes clean well but don't seem very environmentally friendly Taekwondo was awesome thanks! We got to try a special move. Which is a kick above head height. So you kinda jump with one leg first to get the height, and kick with the other |
I didn't want to come across all preachy about single use wipes =|
|
The guinea pigs had a clean out which was very tiring for them so they napped for ages XD
It's cool. I'll happily be preachy about it XD |

No worries, I hardly ever use them. I just walk round with smudgey glasses. |
Proper movie-style fighting action then, Beckie?! =o How did you get on?

Does Masterchef ever inspire you to cook something new, Jen? I hope you enjoy your evening.
How can you kick above head height, even with a jump? Does everyone in Taekwondo have long legs? Is it a requirement? |
We all typed one minute apart so now there are lots of ninjas for me.

I mean, things ARE better. I'm honestly blown away by how the new pump/cgm system keeps me stable overnight and into the morning, but the rest is just as crazy as ever. Probably partially my fault I think but sometimes I just need to be able to get through a day without downing orange juice and eating jelly babies like there's no tomorrow. Technology is equally our saviour and our downfall. |
My friend who is a black belt can do 15cm above head height.
I think the minimum requirement for a tournament is 2 metres something? And it's different for men and women. It's a speciality move. It took some getting used to but we've done a similar set up as a routine in bodycombat. So i had more of a base than most people! Still hard to get the coordination and lift though. That sounds super stressful np I think you're doing well. Must be a pain to try and manage even with 100% perfect mental health! Let alone when you struggle with other stuff too |
2 METRES ABOVE HEAD HEIGHT?!?!?!?!
Thanks Beckie. I think a lot of people don't get it so it is really appreciated when people recognise that it isn't easy especially when you guys know more about what goes on with me than my nurses and doctors do! People often compare diabetes to a full time job on it's own but without any holiday breaks and such! It sucks, but hey ho, I don't know any different so have to get on with it. |
I also salute you, NP. I don't know how I would manage.
