Cacoethes 01-04-2024 10:10 AM

I'm ok. Feeling better physically today
Crisis coming at 11

How are you?

tamobhuuta 01-04-2024 10:58 AM

I'm ok, going to Mass at 12 with my mum. Good luck with Crisis!

Cacoethes 01-04-2024 11:02 AM

Hope you enjoy mass!
Thanks :)

Pi.R^2 01-04-2024 11:23 AM

Hope it's going well with crisis Beckie and that Mass is good tamo.

First world problems but our new cleaners are here and we're scared of them :P

Cacoethes 01-04-2024 11:35 AM

It was ok. Was a guy that i know fairly well.
Apparently they were fighting over who got to see me XD

Wow...that really is a first world problem! :tongue2:

Pi.R^2 01-04-2024 11:47 AM

Haha, I can totally imagine them fighting over seeing you :P
What are you up to now?

First world or otherwise, it remains a problem for which we need sympathy!!

Cacoethes 01-04-2024 11:49 AM

I am just that awesome!
I am doing some washing and i need to go to aldi (as usual!)

Sending many sympathies jenna!

Ahimsa 01-04-2024 12:02 PM

Ooh Beckie I'm going to Aldi this afternoon too!

Pi.R^2 01-04-2024 12:32 PM

I feel left out not going to Aldi! I will go shopping though, but need to do a food plan first - K is away this week so have put unneeded amounts of pressure on myself to choose lots of meals that they don't like so we don't usually have.

Ahimsa 01-04-2024 12:34 PM

Try not to think of it like that Jenna, what would JENNA like to eat?

I can't remember what I saw it on, probably TikTok that was basically saying when you're being a people pleaser, remember you're a people too.

I'm only going for cat litter so nothing too exciting!

I've also picked up a 9-midnight emergencies overtime shift tonight which is good.

Cacoethes 01-04-2024 12:47 PM

I have just been to aldi because there was a black cloud that looked a bit sus. It's meant to rain this afternoon

That is an excellent saying beth!

I always find that i pick up extra shifts in a good mood and then I'm a bit 'ugh' when i actually have to work them XD

Ahimsa 01-04-2024 12:50 PM

It's my current favourite saying!

The thing with the late night emergency shifts, no one calls unless they HAVE to so its never stupid calls (like the lady I had on Thursday who was confused about the clock change and how long it was until her appointment that same day - I was like "the clocks haven't changed yet?)

So if its busy, it goes quick and its true emergencies, and if its quiet I can just do whatever, scroll on my phone, do the scanning etc

Cacoethes 01-04-2024 12:53 PM

Wow, that is kind of a stupid question!

Hopefully it's quiet, Because i hate to think of animals in a genuine emergency state :(

one_step_closer 01-04-2024 01:00 PM

Afternoon everyone. I hope your days are going well.

one_step_closer 01-04-2024 01:00 PM

Damn I've just come on here and have now noticed it's lunch time. Will catch up later!

Ahimsa 01-04-2024 01:03 PM

It is one of those jobs where people are like "I bet its playing with puppies and kittens all day!"

If we see a puppy or kitten, who is well and just for vaccinations, it's a GOOD day.

The following content has been hidden - Reason : "What my job actually entails, may be upsetting for pet owners,
"I unfortunately have seen and dealt with some awful things, including phoning owners when their pet has been hit by a car, brought in by a member of the public and we've found an owner from a microchip. I have had to make that phone call occasionally and its awful.

On emergency shifts, I'm also essentially 999 for animals, so "my dog is seizuring/need to go to heaven/struggling to breathe/has eaten X, is it toxic?" and I'm the first one they see coming out of the consult when their animal didn't make it so I deal with all that too.

one_step_closer 01-04-2024 01:21 PM

Sounds like a really tough job, Beth. How do you manage?

Cacoethes 01-04-2024 01:23 PM

Afternoon lindsay
How are you?

Sounds very emotionally draining beth

Ahimsa 01-04-2024 01:24 PM

Well thankfully those ones aren't every day, often it's cats/dogs with eye infections, ear infections, vaccinations, questions about medications, limping, booking surgeries, much more routine things! But you never know what you're going to get over the phone when you pick it up.

Then there's invoicing, insurance claims, ensuring people book in for what they're due, sorting travel certificates as each country and animal have different requirements, its a very varying job!

Ahimsa 01-04-2024 01:25 PM

How is everyone doing? :)

one_step_closer 01-04-2024 01:30 PM

I hope you see at least one reasonably healthy cutie a shift so you can hold on to that a bit.

I'm just my usual.

Ahimsa 01-04-2024 01:31 PM

Have you got a cosy afternoon ahead of you?

Cacoethes 01-04-2024 01:33 PM

It does sound it beth!

I have a sudden craving for chocolate milk. But i cba to go back to the shops

Ahimsa 01-04-2024 01:34 PM

Oh no, sadness!!!

Cacoethes 01-04-2024 01:48 PM

It is sad
But im being lazy XD
I have to be in town tomorrow anyway, so I'll get some if i still fancy it

long road 01-04-2024 01:50 PM

Hey everyone!

I stayed up late reading manga last night so only woke up at 1pm. Was nice to enjoy something though and the be up late because I was enjoying myself rather than because I just couldn't sleep

Ahimsa 01-04-2024 01:51 PM

That sounds lovely LR!

long road 01-04-2024 01:53 PM

It was awesome and I have more to read today!

How are you Beth?

Cacoethes 01-04-2024 02:09 PM

Glad you had a good night and a decent sleep jen

tamobhuuta 01-04-2024 03:37 PM

Hi everyone, hows your afternoons going? I had to put my meds in their dosette box. I made it more fun by listening to my new Eminem playlist.

Cacoethes 01-04-2024 03:41 PM

That's good tamo
That's one of my least favourite jobs!

tamobhuuta 01-04-2024 03:44 PM

Mine too. Luckily my spasming today isn't too bad so I didn't throw any pills on the floor.

Cacoethes 01-04-2024 03:49 PM

Always a win!

one_step_closer 01-04-2024 04:00 PM

Cravings when they are not possible to fulfil cause much despair!

That sounds good, Jen. I hope you can do some more reading today.

Has Eminem released any new stuff recently, Tamo?

Cacoethes 01-04-2024 04:12 PM

They do!

You up to much lindsay?

Ahimsa 01-04-2024 04:51 PM

I made it to Aldi! :)

I also dropped some crafty bits I dont need at one of my friends houses for her kids (she lives near Aldi) and went for a walk too around the block

Cacoethes 01-04-2024 05:05 PM

Sounds like a successful day beth!

The time change is messing me up.
Why is it still so bright and it's 5pm?? XD

Ahimsa 01-04-2024 05:06 PM

Yeah, successfulish! I'm going to try get a few more things done before work though, I've got until 8:45 so just resting now.

How's your day been?

Cacoethes 01-04-2024 05:32 PM

Resting is good!

Not too bad.
Been mostly just watching house, though I'm sure there are probably more important things to be doing!

Accidentally Abstract 01-04-2024 05:43 PM

Hey everyone, nice to hear of some chilled and also productive days. <3

one_step_closer 01-04-2024 05:58 PM

Do you not like the lighter evenings, Beckie?

Well done, Beth. Doing more than one task in succession is always a well timed achievement.

Hi Luce, how are you doing?

I am waiting on a delivery of half an Easter egg with ice cream and daim bar pieces in it.

Ahimsa 01-04-2024 05:58 PM

Hey Luce,

How're you doing?

Cacoethes 01-04-2024 06:16 PM

Hey luce! How you doing?

I do like the lighter evenings, but with that and also the last 3 days all being sunday, its all thrown me off!

Ooh that sounds tasty lindsay!

one_step_closer 01-04-2024 06:20 PM

It is all a bit confusing. Routine will be back soon!

Cacoethes 01-04-2024 06:25 PM

I hope so!

Ahimsa 01-04-2024 06:26 PM

I'm thinking a nap before work may be required.

one_step_closer 01-04-2024 06:28 PM

Naps before work are allowed.

Pi.R^2 01-04-2024 06:29 PM

I had a nap this afternoon just for the hell of it! What glorious holiday perks!

one_step_closer 01-04-2024 06:30 PM

What other things have you been enjoying, Jenna?

Cacoethes 01-04-2024 07:00 PM

I recommend a nap beth!

I am not enjoying the half term because at aldi this morning it seemed to be 'bring your small children to the supermarket' day and then not control them at all.
We get it a lot at work too. There were kids sliding down the banister, hanging off the beams in the outside bit and climing on the outside bar. The kind of parents that would have a go at us if we said anything, would also have a go at us if they hurt themselves. But they were happily drinking pints and ignoring them anyway. Ugh.
