Lucky your cat likes the cheap stuff!
Some can be fussy!

long road 05-03-2023 08:18 PM

Evening everyone!

Hope you have all had good days, or as good as they can be.

I have done my online click and collect order for the week, which is my Sunday chore. Even had enough energy to do a full stock take of what I had in, what needs using up, what essentials I am missing. I also do a rough evening meal plan to avoid waste. My partner will pick it up tomorrow afternoon.

Rested this afternoon but managed to avoid a nap which is a good sign I am doing better fatigue wise.
Mood is a bit better again today too, and I took the last of my steroids this morning so hopeful for hitting a better patch mood wise. Even did some reflection notes and questions for when physio calls next week.

I would definitely be a fussy cat. I can eat generics for some things but not for baked beans, tomato soup, tinned sweetcorn or tea. My partner is very particular about cheese, I will eat supermarket brand cheese but prefer the fancier cheese counter stuff.

Cacoethes 05-03-2023 08:26 PM

You're organised!
When i do a tesco shop, I mainly just vibe it

I'm glad you've had a good day!

I'm not fussy at all really
Only thing I wouldn't have is own brand coffee because it makes me feel physically sick

long road 05-03-2023 10:03 PM

I find if I don't organise it I forget crucial things like toilet paper, I buy a load of snacks/treats I don't really need (I still get some but aim for moderation) plus end up wasting some of the fruit or veg during the week. Waste is less of a problem with meat as I can check dates and stick some in the freezer. We used to do lists when we went to supermarket in person as there was even more temptation to impulse buy then. Also means not having to go out to often for top up shops which saves money and time, for a while I wasn't really well enough for my partner to leave to go to the shop and back then we relied on delivery only.

Finished my day with a tasty veggie risotto mad eBay my partner, I taught him the recipe years ago and now he makes it better than me!

Yeah I am also fussy with coffee and a bit snobbbish. I prefer coffee that tastes good enough to me that I don't need sugar, bad coffee is only drinkable with sugar and only just. My favourite instant is kenco smooth. But mostly I have ground coffee that I brew using my Aeropress and I prefer 100% arabica. I do tend to only have 1 cup a day now though as caffeine makes my mouth dry and I don't like decaf.

Cacoethes 05-03-2023 10:08 PM

I buy a lot of those things in bulk.
Toilet paper, bin bags, hand soap etc.
I accidentally ordered 180 toilet rolls instead of the usual 60 a few months ago, so will keep me going for a while!

Oooh yummy!

I started having the 3 in 1 caramel coffee sachets when i was in hospital last year. They're too expensive now, so i get other sachets and now I can't drink anything else!
Would love a coffee machine but my kitchen is far too small!

long road 05-03-2023 10:37 PM

I do not have masses of storage space indoors, so I bulk buy smaller things like toothbrush heads, floss etc. But don't buy more than 16 -20 toilet rolls at once as I run out of space to store them.

An Aeropress isn't a coffee machine it a more modern/ speedier version of a French press style thing. An Aeropress consists of little plastic tube you screw a filter cap on the end of (inserting a paper filter), fill with a scoop of ground coffee and a little hot water, stir for ten seconds and then put in the plunger piece and press through the filter. It's pretty simple to clean too just unscrew filter cap, press filter paper and coffee ground into bin, rinse off plunger and filter cap. Then wash whole thing properly in soap and water once or twice a week. Takes up about the space of a slightly taller tin of beans and it only cost about £30 including scoop, stirrer stick and a load of filter papers. I am very keen on mine if you can't tell :p

If you want caramel flavour coffee for less money I recommend adding a spoonful of brown sugar to a coffee (all though I know 3 in 1 already has sugar this trick might work when out).

Cacoethes 06-03-2023 10:04 AM

That's fair. I have quite a large under stairs cupboard and also my bed lifts up and loads of room there.

Ooh that sounds awesome!
Love your disclaimer XD

I used to get syrups from amazon. They were pretty good!

Morning everyone

Zurg 06-03-2023 10:44 AM

Morning Beckie :)
How are you today??

I am trying to insist to myself that i am okay but the truth is i am not too keen on this day. At all!!!!

All the weather service stuff says we're going to have a blizzard, starting late this afternoon and lasting Well into tuesday morning. That is rather inconvenient. And a bit rude!!!

Cacoethes 06-03-2023 10:54 AM

Morning!

I am not great.
But we carry on!

Sorry you're not great either!
Do you have much to do today?

Oh no!
It's raining here which sucks. But a blizzard sucks more!

tamobhuuta 06-03-2023 11:08 AM

Morning guys. No blizzard or rain here, just grey. So it's ok that I've got to go out. Just for the clozapine clinic. Then later I need a hair wash.

Cacoethes 06-03-2023 11:32 AM

Think the rain has stopped now.

I have double pilates and need to pick up a parcel/parcels from the delivery office.
Also may meet up with work friend for a coffee if she replies to the message!

tamobhuuta 06-03-2023 11:59 AM

I hope you have fun!

Cacoethes 06-03-2023 12:03 PM

Thanks!

Merry has been annoying poor pippin all morning.
Pippin just wants to munch on hay but Merry has woken up and chose violence this morning

Zurg 06-03-2023 12:04 PM

Coffee dates are always fun :D

I hope the weather Will stay nice for your appointment, Tamo.

Now that they have been going on and on about this blizzard and the possible subsequent chaos that it might create, i shall be bitterly disappointed if it turns out there won't be a blizzard or chaos and panic and disorder at all >:(

tamobhuuta 06-03-2023 12:57 PM

We might get snow tomorrow! I hope you get good weather.

Clozapine clinic was fine, really quick. Shower time now.

one_step_closer 06-03-2023 01:08 PM

Hi everyone. I've just had some salted caramel fudge.

I'm sorry you're not feeling great Kat and Beckie. Hopefully the day will be kind to you.

I'm glad the clozapine clinic was fine, Tamo. I hope your shower makes you feel nice and clean and refreshed.

It's sunny here at the moment with a very cold wind.

Cacoethes 06-03-2023 01:13 PM

I had to leave pilates shortly after arriving which is annoying.
Went to pick up parcel so at least that's done.

Salted caramel fudge sounds yummy!
I am jealous!

one_step_closer 06-03-2023 01:14 PM

Are you ok?

Cacoethes 06-03-2023 01:26 PM

Yeah.
I think i would have collapsed if I'd stayed so better to just leave and save the embarrassment!

Just booked a lip piercing.
Because no mental breakdown is complete without an impulse piercing/tattoo/hair colour :tongue2:

not_so_insig 06-03-2023 01:38 PM

Afternoon all. I have evri coming today plus amazon. My shower sponge is disintegrating so I ordered one from amazon albeit in a different colour. Plus a light bulb that is compatible with alexa but I only got it because it was only £3.

Elmer 06-03-2023 02:48 PM

Which bit of your lip Beckie?? I want my Medusa back.

Hi :)

I don't want it to snow when I'm not allowed to play in it :'(

Cacoethes 06-03-2023 02:57 PM

I can't decide between snake bites or spider bites!
(I changed the booking to 2 lip piercings instead of 1 because it's cheaper)
I've wanted spider bites since I was an emo teen so will probably go for that.

You shoild get it done again!
Love medusa piercings.

When it snowed when I was IP, they let us out to play in it. Staff even got involved in snowball fights!
Though when i was in PICU, they refused to come out to light cigarettes because they didn't want to get pelted with snowballs. So they just stuck an arm out of the door to light us up XD

one_step_closer 06-03-2023 03:27 PM

Are you feeling any better, Beckie? I know nothing about piercings so will skip that whole conversation!

Isn't it easier and cheaper to just go to a shop for a sponge, Dawn? I would never think of getting one online.

Cacoethes 06-03-2023 03:32 PM

Not really.
But we move on...
My work friend isn't feeling well so we're gonna mert tomorrow instead. Which is fine because its been raining all day anyway

You been up to much today?

not_so_insig 06-03-2023 03:41 PM

The only other place that I know that sells it is Boots and was more expensive than amazon. It's a special type of sponge called a ramer sponge rather than an ordinary sponge Lindsay.

Elmer 06-03-2023 05:12 PM

I had spider bites! I have a small mouth, so combined with my Medusa it was a bit overkill-y but I might look into the Medusa again. Will there be IG photos Beckie?

I hope you feel a bit better soon.

Maybe if it snows we will be allowed into the courtyard, hmm.

Cacoethes 06-03-2023 05:27 PM

Possibly.
Bit iffy because my mum will see. And obviously she will see eventually anyway, but it's easier to deal with in person
(Yep, still scared of my mum at 31 years old XD)

Fingers crossed!
I found it depended on staff.
Most of them didn't want to do any extra (or any at all) work so wouldn't open the garden because it meant they actually had to do their job.
But if you get a good nurse on, they made them do it.

one_step_closer 06-03-2023 05:54 PM

Take care of yourself, Beckie.

It's a shame you couldn't meet up with your friend, I hope they are ok tomorrow. Is your Mum not on Fb? It's a shame you worry about her reactions to things. I like your piercings.

I wonder if the snow will actually happen.

I've never heard of a ramer sponge. Is it one of those ones that are more natural?

I've not had much to do today just put a washing on. I also replied to a pen pal letter and did my usual stuff that was on my to do list. Need to find a new book to start.

tamobhuuta 06-03-2023 06:01 PM

I'm exhausted from my shower!

Zurg 06-03-2023 06:05 PM

I Think i did Way too much today. I ended up being in a sort of comatose potato state. Cleaned bird cages, Findus litter box, hoovered the flat and did a grocery shop. I found myself sitting on my couch and wondering if i would hear my timer go off when my chips were done in the oven if i fell asleep…. Decided not to risk it. I had a good friend who fell asleep while boiling pasta. He ended up at A&E under observation for inhaling too much smoke, lol.

I had big plans of cooking myself a proper meal for dinner but it was just a plate of chips instead. Now my upstairs neighbour is yelling into her phone. She must be miserable every day as this is an almost Daily occurence….

I approve of piercings!!! The more, the better!!! Same with tattoos!!! :D

one_step_closer 06-03-2023 06:10 PM

Is that everything done now so you can relax for the rest of the day, Tamo?

Well done for doing stuff, Kat. It can be hard to find a balance and just doing what you're able to and how you'll feel afterwards. There's nothing wrong with a plate of chips if that's what you can manage right now. Take it easy. Does your neighbour disturb you with the calls? I hated having an upstairs neighbour.

Cacoethes 06-03-2023 06:25 PM

My mum is on fb, but my default setting is post only visible to close friends, because sometimes i post weird **** without realising it. So like 99% of my posts aren't visible to family and work peeps.

Sounds exhausting zurg!

I'm cooking gnocci now.

tamobhuuta 06-03-2023 06:40 PM

Everything done :) I'm going to listen to Pride and Prejudice on the BBC iPlayer.

one_step_closer 06-03-2023 06:46 PM

Ah, I always wondered why your Mum commented on things but not other things that were a bit more serious/personal. Did you have to choose each individual you wanted to be in the close friends category?

I can't remember what gnocci is, explain please. :-)

Enjoy, Tamo.

Cacoethes 06-03-2023 06:49 PM

I can't remember. I started doing it so long ago!
I have more people on my close friends than I do just friends.

It's like a dumpling. Pasta but potato based.

one_step_closer 06-03-2023 06:53 PM

That sounds like an invention! Do you have sauce with it?

Cacoethes 06-03-2023 07:02 PM

I had pesto with it!
I don't remember ordering 4 jars of pesto but apparently I did...

Zurg 06-03-2023 07:36 PM

Hey, one can never have too much pesto!!! It's good with so many things. Yum!

I am attempting to relax now. I do have a feeling i shall soon be crawling on the floor though, to entertain myself and bun bun <3

Tomorrow should be a lot more mellow than today, activity wise. Bring on the blizzard!!! I am Well prepped and stocked up on coffee, coke and crisps!!! :D

Cacoethes 06-03-2023 07:46 PM

That is true!
According to one of the chefs at work, you can buy a literal bucket of pesto from costco for about £5.

We've just had a 'severe weather' alert.
They are predicting snow and ice.
Ain't nobody got time for that

tamobhuuta 06-03-2023 08:33 PM

We like Costco.

Cacoethes 06-03-2023 08:41 PM

I haven't been in over 10 years.
Used to go when I was in a rehab type hospital.
They'd take a couple of us along for the lolz sometimes.
My brother goes quite a bit. I'll have to tag along with him sometime.

Zurg 06-03-2023 09:13 PM

I was getting ready to go to my bedroom and tuck in the zoo but something scared Findus :(
He wouldn't even have his night time snack so i lingered a bit and cuddled him and sat beside him. He doesn't Seem like he wants me but i get so worried sometimes. I'm so tired and i really can't handle a bunny crisis right now so i've just let the door to the livingroom stay open so he can come into the bedroom if he wants me. My wee bun bun, i love him so much!!! <3

What is costco??? A shop of some kind???

long road 06-03-2023 09:15 PM

Hey everyone, I have not been having the best day.

Finished the steroids for my asthma yesterday and today breathing seems a bit worse after having felt better while on them. Keeping an eye on it but I reckon I may have to bother the GP again tomorrow. And I may have to restart the steroid tablets at a higher dose which could mean more mental health side effects.

Bit anxious about that which is not helping with the breathing.

Pesto is awesome I miss it, hard to find nut free pesto that would be safe for my partner. Plus pine nuts are one of the best bits of pesto anyway!

I have never been to Costco. Is it like a more food focused IKEA?

Ninja Zurg! Costco is to my understanding a food wholesaler shop that you need a membership to go to and need to be self employed or work a certain job to get a membership

Cacoethes 06-03-2023 09:20 PM

Aww poor findus.
Hopefully he'll be ok and just heard a random noise or something!
Or could be weather related? Animals can sense these things!

Costco is a wholesaler. So you can buy pretty much anything in bulk.
They have cakes the size of coffee tables and muffins the size of regular cakes!!!

I couldn't imagine nut free pesto!

You wouldn't be bothering the GP! That is their job!
Better to get these things sorted sooner rather than later

long road 06-03-2023 09:28 PM

Bless Findus.

I call it bothering because I find it hard to express my needs I guess/ sometimes the receptionists make you feel like you are bothering them. It is usually pretty easy to get at least a call back if I mention asthma though. Turns out breathing is pretty vital. Will definitely call if I still feel rough tomorrow.

Cacoethes 06-03-2023 09:53 PM

Yeah getting past Receptionists can be tricky!
I'd say breathing is like, one of the top 10 things that we should make sure we can do properly.

Cacoethes 07-03-2023 08:26 AM

Morning everyone!

tamobhuuta 07-03-2023 09:53 AM

Morning Cacoethes, how are you?

Cacoethes 07-03-2023 11:36 AM

Morning. I'm ok thanks.
Was out for my hay delivery but they left it by the bins luckily!
Desperately need it and i wouldn't be able to haul 3 5kg boxes of hay from town if they decided to take it to a pick up point!

How are you?

one_step_closer 07-03-2023 01:15 PM

Hi everyone.

How are you, Tamo? What are you doing today?

I'm glad you finally got your delivery of hay, Beckie. How long will that last you? Are you doing much today?
