how be people today?

I FINALLY got my first covid jab last night. I may have had a bit of a pnaic attack in the queue, but the volunteer noticed and took me in the the building via the back door and sat me in my own corner behind a screen.
A nurse then came to check on me, she was really nice and didn't even moan about my stimming nor that I was having to communicate by writing stuff down.

After I had calmed down they gave me the jab, ad I didn't panic over being touched - part of why it's taken me so long to go (plus the whole agoraphobia thing)

today my arm is killing me :hehe: but at least it's done

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 03:33 PM

Well done Hazel!
That was really brave

shadow-light 02-11-2021 04:10 PM

wish it hadn't taken me like a year :ermm: but meh least it happened in the end. not looing forward to having to do it all again in 8 weeks though

especially as 8 weeks is christmas...

ye... 8 weeks till chirstmas... how scary is that? Where did 2021 go?

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 04:11 PM

Oh nooo not Christmas!! D:

nonperson 02-11-2021 04:22 PM

Well done Hazel. I agree that was very brave! At least you'll know what to expect next time and that you managed it this time.

Christmas... ugh.

And Lindsay - I won't be building any bonfires for firework night and I won't be able to get close enough to the one at the firework event here on Friday (not paying to go in when I can watch the fireworks from my house and don't want to socialise with the people there, lol). We'll probably have a fire at work at some point though.

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 04:30 PM

I'm not particularly fussed about fireworks
I'll probably be able to see lots from my house though

that would be my feelings :hehe:

i dont hate christmas as such, I am just meh to it... I do hate how others seem to want to force me to engage with it though :eyeroll:

nonperson 02-11-2021 04:44 PM

^ Same.

It seems too forced and unnatural, but people buy into it because they think they HAVE to.

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 04:44 PM

The only thing I like about it is how excited jasmine gets!

And just like that, work have just posted pics of the Christmas display they've started....

shadow-light 02-11-2021 04:45 PM

that's kind of my issue too, it just feels forced and fake... but when I voice this I get shouted at

I gguess its different if you have kids because then you're sort of doing it for them.

shadow-light 02-11-2021 04:46 PM

the other year the boyfriends mum got annoyed that I dont celebrate christmas and when I said that I'm not christian so why would I she got really annoyed and yelled "what's christianity got to do with it?"

I gave up the conversation after that...

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 04:52 PM

I wouldn't mind working Christmas day if it wasn't for Jasmine!

Oh dear :/

nonperson 02-11-2021 04:56 PM

Well tbh I think for most people Christmas generally has nothing to do with Christianity.

I went to a pub once on Christmas day - it was really quiet!

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 05:06 PM

We've been fully booked for Christmas day for months!
And have a long waiting list!

nonperson 02-11-2021 05:07 PM

Do you have to book just to go in for drinks?

We didn't have food, just popped in for a pint before Christmas dinner at home.

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 05:15 PM

No but we still serve food in the bar area so it will be absolute carnage! Like on a Sunday

We did that a couple of Christmases ago at the family's local. It was packed!

one_step_closer 02-11-2021 06:32 PM

Very well done Hazel, you are amazing.

I always have a quiet Christmas, just me and my brother at home. Although he didn't come last year because of Covid. I don't mind Christmas on my own though, prefer it actually.

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 06:35 PM

I spent one Christmas alone
It was a very depressing day!
Jasmine was still in care. So I spent the day in tears, drinking vodka out of the bottle and ate tomato soup out of the tin. Lol
And last Christmas in hospital wasn't great either.

But it all depends on the person!

one_step_closer 02-11-2021 06:57 PM

*hugs* I hope this Christmas will be a good one for you.

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 06:58 PM

Thank you <3
I just hope I'm not working!

one_step_closer 02-11-2021 06:59 PM

What's everyone doing this evening?

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 07:07 PM

Nothing
Just put my washing away
Now watching QI

How about you?

one_step_closer 02-11-2021 07:11 PM

I'm mostly staring into space. Will put some catch up TV on in a bit and watch an episode of Grey's Anatomy after that. I have a cat on my lap right now and I think it's too early for TV now anyway.

nonperson 02-11-2021 07:17 PM

I'm back. Went for a short walk with my friend and then decided to go for a drive so I didn't have to come home straight away. Normal tv routine for me tonight...

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 07:28 PM

You catching up with anything in particular lindsay?
It feels a lot later than it is!

Welcome back np
Did you enjoy the walk?

nonperson 02-11-2021 07:30 PM

It gets dark too early now. =(

Yeah it was nice to get out and see another person, it was a bit too short though.

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 07:40 PM

It does

Will you go for another walk soon?

nonperson 02-11-2021 07:43 PM

Probably Thursday but she'll let me know about tomorrow after work.

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 07:46 PM

It's good to get out with people :)

nonperson 02-11-2021 07:48 PM

Sometimes. Or at least in small doses when it's my choice.

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 07:54 PM

Yes absolutely!

nonperson 02-11-2021 07:57 PM

I dunno how you deal with so many people at work.

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 08:07 PM

Neither do I tbh! Lol
I've always been incredibly socially awkward so a job in a pub shouldn't really be for me!
But I make it work

nonperson 02-11-2021 08:11 PM

I think it's easier to be less socially awkward if there's a job to do, rather than being thrown into a room of strangers and told to communicate with them. It defines the specific level of interaction required when it's job based!

Like I can talk to people about my work and show them around and talk to members of the public because they mostly want to know or say the same things so that's fine.

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 08:15 PM

Yes I think that is right!

And in a pub, the interactions with people are usually pretty short. You take an order, you get the drinks, you give them the drinks!
Apart from yesterday when a regular required a therapy session....

nonperson 02-11-2021 08:18 PM

Oh dear. Did you sort them out? Or send them over the road? lol

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 08:23 PM

Haha!
I listened and made sympathetic noises :p

nonperson 02-11-2021 08:27 PM

I guess that's all they want sometimes, just to have someone listen.

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 08:33 PM

Yeah. Bless him!
Hes just very sick of his job and family! Lol

nonperson 02-11-2021 09:05 PM

Poor guy. That's an all too common problem!

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 09:09 PM

It is!
Probably why he spends so much time at the pub!
And drinks like 8 pints of fosters in a row

nonperson 02-11-2021 09:24 PM

Eek. I'm sure he'll tell you more some time.

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 09:31 PM

Most likely
He likes to talk about football as well
I know nothing about football!

shadow-light 02-11-2021 09:35 PM

football is overrated, I tried watcing it when I was a joiner so that I could join in the conversations... it is soooo boring

I mean I played it as a teenager, its ok to play... but it is so dull to watch

nonperson 02-11-2021 09:37 PM

I think that depends on the game really.

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 09:41 PM

I like physically going to matches
That's fun
On tv, not so much

shadow-light 02-11-2021 09:43 PM

maybe

i have been to 2 matches, I mainly got overwhelmed  to be fair I do have a very rubbish attention span for most things though so maybe its just me

Cacoethes 02-11-2021 09:50 PM

Yeah they can be overwhelming!
My attention span isn't great either tbh
Can't focus on anything these days!

Cacoethes 03-11-2021 08:54 AM

Morning everyone!

nonperson 03-11-2021 10:10 AM

Mooorning.
