Hope you have a good time Beckie :)
Hope it’s a good one Beckie :-)
Hi everyone. What’s happening with you all tonight?
Thanks!
Wasn't too bad! Staying for group. Always have some quality bants What's everyone else up to tonight? |
Hey Cheryl.
I’m going to have a lazy evening. I might even have a whisky as a wee treat. |
I’m considering going for a wee carry out before I go home. Six bottles of beer won’t do any harm.
I had a productive day, even went to visit my friend I’ve not seen since summer and got some laundry done. I’m with my dad at the hospital, I’m leaving shortly. |
A cheeky wee beer can be nice.
Sounds like you have had a busy day. I hope you get to relax now. I know it’s hard just now, but some time to look after yourself will do you good. |
always the beer *nods*
My CPN is coming tomorrow afternoon and I’ve got to be at home for deliveries coming so I’m going to visit my mum early and be home for midday and take a day off.
My mum just told me you can get a PhD in bingo, personally I think she’s making it up. We were talking about Mastermind and what our specialist subjects would be. I’d choose the Gospel of Mark. What would you choose? Apparently Harry Potter is the most popular subject request. |
Been writing a application for grants and now I'm having a bear at a sports bar, with a hockey game I'm not so interested in
I would choose an art theme. But I’d probably crack under pressure. I’m no good when put on the spot.
Hey Mylastkiss. Hope you are enjoying yourself.
my chosen specialist subject would be MEEEEETAAAAAAL \m/
ha ha
beer it is |
Haha zombie, I had a feeling you would say that.
My specialist subject would be assassins creed or harry potter!
I wouldn’t contemplate going on Mastermind, I hate public speaking. I much prefer pub quizzes, haven’t been to one in years.
I’m flicking through an OK magazine and I don’t know half the people in it. Apparently Kate Middleton is pregnant and having a home birth. I bet she reads the Guardian. |
I have no idea who all the people are in magazines too.
I haven’t been to a pub quiz in years. Zombie have you ever done the pub quiz in the solid? I failed epically at it. |
Mine would probably be something dorky like ‘possession during the reformation period in england’ . Was my dissertation topic.
That sounds really interesting! It was during the Reformation all the witch burning started. I don’t think they knew anything about mental illness, everything was put down to demons.
I’ve been to some modern churches whose congregations think along the same lines. I read an interesting article the other day about snake-handling preachers in America. Just bizarre. |
I'd probably have to choose something foody as my specialist topic.
I would have thought you would choose a botanical subject.
Well... I considered that but I'm sure I'd fail epicly.
Did get all the answers right on a climbing plant question on Pointless yesterday though. |
Well done.
How is your work going? |
Oh I've got it... My topic would be "Food you can cook in a microwave". =)
It's going ok, it goes better when I'm left alone. Big changes afoot except no one will really say what yet. Just hints.
Hi Person. Happy belated birthday! How did your day go?
Hi FreeAtLast. Thanks, it was nice to go home for the day. =)
I hope they leave you alone and the changes go well.
We'll see.
Chocolate cake time...! |
Glad to hear it, Person.
My friend gave me something called a knitting loom for making hats. She’s making little woollen hats for premature babies. I got a bigger one so when I’ve got time I’m going to make some for homeless people. That’s my intention, whether or not I get round to it is another story.
Cheryl that’s such a lovely thing to do. I wish you luck with it.
Yay chocolate cake!
I’ve always wanted to be able to knit. My mammy’s a good knitter, she makes clothes for her pals’ grandchildren. I used to volunteer at a drop-in centre for homeless people but gave it up when I got sick.
Sorry, I’m on my phone and the signal isn’t great so I kept hitting post.
My mum was a great knitter. My sister knits and crochets. She’s made me blankets, hats and other goodies.
I remember being shown how to cross-stitch in primary school but I’m not very crafty. I do like a good painting-by-numbers, I find it quite therapeutic and there’s very little creativity required. :D
I love all things creative. I went to art school and learned so many methods of art. I taught myself sewing too.
That’s cool and useful. I can just about sew a button onto a shirt. I’m heading home, via Tesco. If you’re not here when I come back online, have a great night and thanks again.
My friends all meet on a Monday evening to do crafts but I just can’t seem to get into it. Wish I could.
Maybe you haven’t found the right craft Emma. I’ve taught art workshops and found there is something for everyone. Yours is out there, so keep trying.
Thanks Lorraine. I think the problem is my concentration span. I did quite a bit of decoupage in hospital and also some scrap booking. I don’t have the patience or concentration for things like cross stitch or sewing or paper cutting which seem to be the main things they do. I’m about as artistic as a spoon lol. I do sometimes do adult colouring of mandalas though. What’s your favourite crafty activity?
My favourite is painting and printmaking. But I like to sew too. I love drawing.
Have you ever tried silk painting? You don’t have to pint specific objects, just make marks with the brush and allow the fabric to soak the painting up. Quite relaxing. |
Not tried it or even heard of it! It does sound quite relaxing though. I used to love drawing still life but was never very good and stopped about 12 years ago when I first got really unwell. Maybe I’ll try and get back into arts and crafts. I found crocheting quite relaxing- but again, wasn’t very good!
How do you do print making?
Hey guyyyss
Hey Beckie! You home? How’s the pizza?
Printmaking covers a variety of methods including screen printing, etching and lithography, but you need a studio with printing presses and everything. There’s a print studio in Glasgow I used to use, but it’s been years. I try some relief printing in my flat. That can be Lino cuts and wood cuts.
