Cpt_Stunning 25-09-2017 07:50 PM

I've heard a lot of people say they like background noise, but I prefer quiet, everyone's different I suppose, when I moved out my parents couldn't believe I didn't want a TV in my room - there is space for one - when I visit them they have the TV & radio on, too much for me. There's a place for a radio too, but I prefer quiet.

Cacoethes 25-09-2017 07:52 PM

Im the opposite. Quiet freaks me out!
Apart from when I'm trying to sleep, then all tv and radio etc HAS to be turned off!

Cpt_Stunning 25-09-2017 08:00 PM

There has to be a fine balance, I remember when I turned 18 & started going to nightclubs, they used to blast the music out so loud, I couldn't even hear myself think, let alone hear what the person next to me was saying, tbh only really went to them only because my friends wanted to go after the pub closed, I've never minded pubs, because we could play pool, relax.

Eska 25-09-2017 08:04 PM

Hi people! How is everyone doing?

Cpt_Stunning 25-09-2017 08:06 PM

I'm OK, just watching a movie on YouTube, how are you?

Cacoethes 25-09-2017 08:07 PM

I don't really like clubs any more.
Pubs are waaay better imo!
Im getting old I think :p

Hi eska!
How are you?

Sketchy 25-09-2017 08:08 PM

Hi all.

I'm back and could use a distraction.

What you been up to Eska?

Sketchy 25-09-2017 08:09 PM

I like pubs. I like my local pub and I go there often with my sister because we live four doors away.

Eska 25-09-2017 08:11 PM

Hi Cpt!

Beckie I agree, pubs are the way forward! Although I do like a good dance now and then. It's been ages since I was out though!

Hi Lorraine, where have you been?

I've been settling back into living here. It's going ok. I've been climbing/bouldering a couple of times and had some meals with my friends and stuff so all pretty positive in that respect.

Cpt_Stunning 25-09-2017 08:11 PM

There was a nightclub that I did like, but it closed down years ago, fallen into a state of disrepair they should knock it down.

Sketchy 25-09-2017 08:14 PM

I'm not the best but trying to distract.

That sounds really positive Eska. The climbing sounds fun.

That's a shame cpt. I haven't been to a club in ages. I prefer the pub.

Cacoethes 25-09-2017 08:15 PM

That sounds good eska.
Glad you're settling in well :)

There are bascially no clubs near me!
Well, my college town has clubs because its a uni town but the last bus goes at like 7:30pm so I can't really go out clubbing or anything!

Sorry you're not feeling great Lorraine

Sketchy 25-09-2017 08:18 PM

Thanks Beckie.

There are plenty of clubs in the centre of Glasgow and the public transport is good, so I could go if I wanted to. But I don't anymore. I used to a lot in my twenties, but I can't face it now.

Cpt_Stunning 25-09-2017 08:21 PM

I mostly only go to a pub nowadays to have a carvery, I'll have a pint of cider, but mostly for the carvery's that they do, I do like to have a steak & chips too in a pub, but I mostly eat at home. It's so much cheaper, I'll have a spag bol from Morrison's that I got for a quid, ready meal.

Sketchy 25-09-2017 08:22 PM

It's nice to have a pub meal. I like eating at my local pub. They do good pizza.

Sketchy 25-09-2017 08:24 PM

Cpt you keep putting me in the mood for spag bol. I make it with soya mince though. Yum.

Cacoethes 25-09-2017 08:24 PM

I haven't had a pub meal in ages!
Do love a pub lunch!

Cpt_Stunning 25-09-2017 08:25 PM

I was in the Navy Reserves for 8 years, & spent a while in Edinburgh in 2003, went out into town with the regular navy guys, they let us into the pubs, but not the nightclubs, scared there may be trouble I suppose, we were all English & navy.

Sketchy 25-09-2017 08:27 PM

That's a shame you didn't get to go to the clubs. I can't imagine there being any bother. I've only been to pubs in Edinburgh. There are some nice ones.

Cpt_Stunning 25-09-2017 08:29 PM

I really enjoyed Edinburgh, I went to Glasgow in 2004, stayed outside, a place called Faslane, only briefly for training.

Cacoethes 25-09-2017 08:30 PM

Id like to visit Edinburgh one day.
One of my brothers went to a uni open day there and he really liked the area

Cpt_Stunning 25-09-2017 08:31 PM

I was gutted to give up Navy Reserves, the people were great, just got a bit too intense for me.

Sketchy 25-09-2017 08:32 PM

That's a shame you didn't see much of Glasgow. The city has a lot to offer. I love it.

Beckie hopefully you will get to see Edinburgh. It's a nice city. I haven't been in ages and I have my bus pass that will take me there free. I should go again.

Sketchy 25-09-2017 08:33 PM

That's a shame Cpt. Do you like what you do now?

Eska 25-09-2017 08:33 PM

I also went to Edinburgh for a uni open day and liked it! I've been through there a few times since when I was visiting my sister back when she lived in Scotland.

Sketchy 25-09-2017 08:35 PM

Edinburgh seems popular for students I imagine.

Eska 25-09-2017 08:36 PM

It was my insurance choice and I very nearly ended up there.

Cacoethes 25-09-2017 08:36 PM

I'd like to see more of the UK in general!
I've been to Scotland when i was a kid becuase we have family there and that was fun.
Maybe when I can drive I'll have more freedom!!
Although I've just checked train prices and scotland for £62 isn't actually that bad!
It costs a lot more to get to like Manchester and places and that doesn't seem to make much sense!

Cpt_Stunning 25-09-2017 08:38 PM

I do like living in the South West, Cornwall's great, had a lot of holidays there when I was a kid, spent a lot of time on Dartmoor, in Exeter & Torquay, & other places around Devon & Cornwall. Suppose most places have nice areas to visit. Plymouth is the biggest city in the South West, it's OK living here, but has some rough areas, & people's accents can be a bit strong.

Eska 25-09-2017 08:39 PM

Train prices are silly.

Sketchy 25-09-2017 08:40 PM

That is strange Beckie. I wonder how they figure that out for prices.

I'd like to see more of the uk too. I'd like to see more of England and I'd love to see Wales, because my recent trips have been around Scotland.

Cacoethes 25-09-2017 08:40 PM

I've been to Dartmoor when I was a kid, mainly to check out the wild Dartmoor ponies as we are a horsey family!

Ive been on lots of holidays abroad so it would be nice to explore closer to home!

Sketchy 25-09-2017 08:41 PM

I think everywhere has it's rough areas.

Sketchy 25-09-2017 08:43 PM

Seeing the ponies sounds fun.

Sketchy 25-09-2017 08:45 PM

Goodnight Beckie. Sleep well.

Cacoethes 25-09-2017 08:46 PM

Im gonna go to bed.
I know its really early but I am tired!
And it usually takes me hours to get to sleep so best start early!!

Night all!!

Sketchy 25-09-2017 08:47 PM

Goodnight Beckie.

Eska 25-09-2017 08:47 PM

Goodnight lovely

I started a full-time job in July 1998, which is where I still am, I joined the Navy Reserves, because it's part-time, did weekends away, went abroad, even to places like Jamaica, the Gambia, & even New York, but it got too much for me.

I like my regular job, but after over 19 years there, I'm hoping to get made redundant, do something else, I'll give it 3 years, if I'm not made redundant by then, I'll probably leave, look for something else.

Sketchy 25-09-2017 08:53 PM

I hope you find somewhere else where you are happy.

Cpt_Stunning 25-09-2017 08:59 PM

Thanks Lorraine, I'm not looking for a job with a lot of money in the future, just one which is relaxing with friendly people. I've got a job like that now, but it's been 19 years there, see how it goes.

Sketchy 25-09-2017 09:01 PM

It always helps to have friendly people to work with.

Buttons. 25-09-2017 09:09 PM

Agreed on the importance of friendly workmates. The best job I had was the most 'stressful' but the people I worked with were ace so the stress didn't matter.

Cpt_Stunning 25-09-2017 09:15 PM

I do have a 'ladette' woman who I work with, who swears & belches, talks about fights she's had with other women, but everyone else is really relaxed.:-D

Cpt_Stunning 25-09-2017 09:26 PM

& that's when she's sober, goodness knows what she's like when she's been drinking.

Sketchy 25-09-2017 09:39 PM

Sounds like apart from that you have a good group.

Buttons. 25-09-2017 09:57 PM

I find calling a woman a 'ladette' because she displays traits not traditionally associated in a lot of Western cultures with 'femininity' a little demeaning.

Cacoethes 26-09-2017 07:25 AM

Morning guys!
It is too early

Buttons. 26-09-2017 08:12 AM

Morning Beckie :)

Cpt_Stunning 26-09-2017 08:15 AM

good morning
