I've heard a lot of people say they like background noise, but I prefer quiet, everyone's different I suppose, when I moved out my parents couldn't believe I didn't want a TV in my room - there is space for one - when I visit them they have the TV & radio on, too much for me. There's a place for a radio too, but I prefer quiet.
Im the opposite. Quiet freaks me out!
Apart from when I'm trying to sleep, then all tv and radio etc HAS to be turned off! |
There has to be a fine balance, I remember when I turned 18 & started going to nightclubs, they used to blast the music out so loud, I couldn't even hear myself think, let alone hear what the person next to me was saying, tbh only really went to them only because my friends wanted to go after the pub closed, I've never minded pubs, because we could play pool, relax.
Hi people! How is everyone doing?
I'm OK, just watching a movie on YouTube, how are you?
I don't really like clubs any more.
Pubs are waaay better imo! Im getting old I think :p Hi eska! How are you? |
Hi all.
I'm back and could use a distraction. What you been up to Eska? |
I like pubs. I like my local pub and I go there often with my sister because we live four doors away.
Hi Cpt!
Beckie I agree, pubs are the way forward! Although I do like a good dance now and then. It's been ages since I was out though! Hi Lorraine, where have you been? I've been settling back into living here. It's going ok. I've been climbing/bouldering a couple of times and had some meals with my friends and stuff so all pretty positive in that respect. |
There was a nightclub that I did like, but it closed down years ago, fallen into a state of disrepair they should knock it down.
I'm not the best but trying to distract.
That sounds really positive Eska. The climbing sounds fun. That's a shame cpt. I haven't been to a club in ages. I prefer the pub. |
That sounds good eska.
Glad you're settling in well :) There are bascially no clubs near me! Well, my college town has clubs because its a uni town but the last bus goes at like 7:30pm so I can't really go out clubbing or anything! Sorry you're not feeling great Lorraine |
Thanks Beckie.
There are plenty of clubs in the centre of Glasgow and the public transport is good, so I could go if I wanted to. But I don't anymore. I used to a lot in my twenties, but I can't face it now. |
I mostly only go to a pub nowadays to have a carvery, I'll have a pint of cider, but mostly for the carvery's that they do, I do like to have a steak & chips too in a pub, but I mostly eat at home. It's so much cheaper, I'll have a spag bol from Morrison's that I got for a quid, ready meal.
It's nice to have a pub meal. I like eating at my local pub. They do good pizza.
Cpt you keep putting me in the mood for spag bol. I make it with soya mince though. Yum.
I haven't had a pub meal in ages!
Do love a pub lunch! |
I was in the Navy Reserves for 8 years, & spent a while in Edinburgh in 2003, went out into town with the regular navy guys, they let us into the pubs, but not the nightclubs, scared there may be trouble I suppose, we were all English & navy.
That's a shame you didn't get to go to the clubs. I can't imagine there being any bother. I've only been to pubs in Edinburgh. There are some nice ones.
I really enjoyed Edinburgh, I went to Glasgow in 2004, stayed outside, a place called Faslane, only briefly for training.
Id like to visit Edinburgh one day.
One of my brothers went to a uni open day there and he really liked the area |
I was gutted to give up Navy Reserves, the people were great, just got a bit too intense for me.
That's a shame you didn't see much of Glasgow. The city has a lot to offer. I love it.
Beckie hopefully you will get to see Edinburgh. It's a nice city. I haven't been in ages and I have my bus pass that will take me there free. I should go again. |
That's a shame Cpt. Do you like what you do now?
I also went to Edinburgh for a uni open day and liked it! I've been through there a few times since when I was visiting my sister back when she lived in Scotland.
Edinburgh seems popular for students I imagine.
It was my insurance choice and I very nearly ended up there.
I'd like to see more of the UK in general!
I've been to Scotland when i was a kid becuase we have family there and that was fun. Maybe when I can drive I'll have more freedom!! Although I've just checked train prices and scotland for £62 isn't actually that bad! It costs a lot more to get to like Manchester and places and that doesn't seem to make much sense! |
I do like living in the South West, Cornwall's great, had a lot of holidays there when I was a kid, spent a lot of time on Dartmoor, in Exeter & Torquay, & other places around Devon & Cornwall. Suppose most places have nice areas to visit. Plymouth is the biggest city in the South West, it's OK living here, but has some rough areas, & people's accents can be a bit strong.
Train prices are silly.
That is strange Beckie. I wonder how they figure that out for prices.
I'd like to see more of the uk too. I'd like to see more of England and I'd love to see Wales, because my recent trips have been around Scotland. |
I've been to Dartmoor when I was a kid, mainly to check out the wild Dartmoor ponies as we are a horsey family!
Ive been on lots of holidays abroad so it would be nice to explore closer to home! |
I think everywhere has it's rough areas.
Seeing the ponies sounds fun.
Goodnight Beckie. Sleep well.
Im gonna go to bed.
I know its really early but I am tired! And it usually takes me hours to get to sleep so best start early!! Night all!! |
Goodnight Beckie.
Goodnight lovely

I like my regular job, but after over 19 years there, I'm hoping to get made redundant, do something else, I'll give it 3 years, if I'm not made redundant by then, I'll probably leave, look for something else. |
I hope you find somewhere else where you are happy.
Thanks Lorraine, I'm not looking for a job with a lot of money in the future, just one which is relaxing with friendly people. I've got a job like that now, but it's been 19 years there, see how it goes.
It always helps to have friendly people to work with.
Agreed on the importance of friendly workmates. The best job I had was the most 'stressful' but the people I worked with were ace so the stress didn't matter.
I do have a 'ladette' woman who I work with, who swears & belches, talks about fights she's had with other women, but everyone else is really relaxed.:-D
& that's when she's sober, goodness knows what she's like when she's been drinking.
Sounds like apart from that you have a good group.
I find calling a woman a 'ladette' because she displays traits not traditionally associated in a lot of Western cultures with 'femininity' a little demeaning.
Morning guys!
It is too early |
Morning Beckie :)
good morning
