Bingo was a huge thing in the medium secure. We actually had some fairly good prizes like dvds and toiletries but it got old fast!!
Can't really remember any more groups. I rarely went to them tbh! Although last admission I was always dragged out to help buy christmas decorations and stuff. I don't know why I was the only one that had to go but I was! |
They always did bingo in rehab, it really bored me. And our prizes were always chocolate or sweets till me and my friend complained there was nothing for people trying to be healthy with food, and it was unhelpful to those with certain EDs that they would try and bribe us to join in with junk food :tongue2:
Maybe they were secretly wrapping your pressies Beckie! |
That's a very good point amy! Aren't hospitals supposed to promote healthy eating anyway?!
Haha! Sadly not! They always dragged me out but whenever I wanted to go out it was all 'you need to shower and change your clothes and put everything in the wash and tidy your room' Like seriously?! I'm off to slimming world. See you in a bit! |
I don't mind bingo but they never played it. I have never spent Christmas in hospital but the first admission meant that I spent my birthday there. Fortunately they let me out for the day so I was able to open my presents at my parents house rather than on ward.
|
I don't know if it's the same for England but no junk food can be sold in hospitals in Wales. Even potato crisps are banned instead hospitals offer vegetable crisps. All fizzy drinks are banned even in the cafe unless they are diet.
|
Hope Slimming World goes well Beckie!
That was in the rehab I went to Dawn which was private, not my local nhs acute, so maybe there is a difference? At my acute they did change some of what they put in the vending machines to healthier things but I've not been there in ages so I don't know what it's like now. |
Thanks amy. It went pretty well :)
The medium secure I was at stopped selling junk food and non diet drinks and that was private. |
The hospital I was in had fizzy drinks. I can't remember if it was just diet ones though.
|
I'm not sure if I agree with it tbh. Same as the non smoking hospitals. Like it's great to promote healthy eating and stopping smoking, but to *force* grown adults into eating healthily and not smoking is a bit harsh. We should be able to make these choices ourselves.
|
Especially as in the nhs you don't have access to private fridges or cooking facilities. The majority of foods that don't require any of those facilities are junk food. So saying you can't have junk is highly unfair IMO.
|
Yay Beckie :) well done!
I definitely agree we should have choice. Last thing you need when going IP in a crisis is being told you can't have a fag if you smoke or the food you enjoy. What annoyed me at my acute was they would only send a couple of salads down a day, even though we have a number of veggies. And not everyone like the one hot veggie option. Like it was a race to get one and if I didn't get one I'd go without. Like really are a few more salads too much to ask!! |
I have a craving for a fizzy drink now. I prefer the diet stuff anyway.
|
Thanks amy :)
I prefer diet drinks. I am quite addicted to diet coke!! That's annoying amy! We didn't have many salads either but we did have plenty of sandwiches! There was usually a few left over for supper which was good. |
Egg sandwiches was a common veggie option in hospital. When I got out I couldn't face them any time soon.
|
It's such a pain being veggie in a hospital!
I was veggie for 9 years but ended up eating meat again because I couldn't face the veggie options anymore! |
I can imagine how eggs all the time would suck. I don't eat eggs and I am not veggie.
|
Good morning guys.
|
Morning :)
How are you Luna? |
I really can't be bothered today. Feeling a bit blah.
How are you Katy? |
Boo to feeling blah. I hope it improves as your day goes on.
How're you Katy? I'm tired but nervous of today. |
What's happening today beautiful?
|
Just back from being at home. And then I will be discussed in the big scary morning meeting called firm. And I have group and individual therapy.
|
Are you back at the Cassel then? That's fantastic news!!
|
I am indeed back.
|
Yay! I'm so happy for you :) Sounds like a full on day though.
|
I know blergh.
Whare your plans today lovely? |
I've got managing emotions group and slimming world later.
Debating whether to go to the cemetery because it's the anniversary of my Nan's death today. Depends on the weather though. I'd quite like to take some flowers though. |
Luna sorry to hear you're feeling like that today. Is there space in your day for some chilling time? And/or little treats for yourself like a nice tea/coffee/whatever?
I'm anxious, I have to go into town to get a few bits and pieces and last time I went (first time since weeks in hosp) and even with my walker I was so weak in all my limbs and in so much pain I nearly cried trying to walk to the car park with Mum. Am meeting a support worker there. Well done going back to Cassel, that shows real strength and commitment, especially with it being a tad anxiety provoking. Would help to try and break down your anxieties and try and find small specific ways to potentially ease at least some of the anxiety? |
If you can fit in some down time that sounds like it'd be helpful Luna. Sending love about your nan and maybe it'd be helpful going t the cemetery.
Katy sounds like you need to try and pace yourself. Maybe try going shorter distances? It's that I know all the attention will be on me for a few times today. Urgh. Oh well. And it's raining. Double urgh. |
I'm sorry walking is so painful and difficult Katy, that sounds awful.
Just listened to a new Ed sheeran song from his new album and it's made me cry. He always has at least one song per album that gets me every time! lol. |
Which song was it Luna? His songs do have a way of doing that though!
|
It's called Supermarket Flowers.
They sure do. How's your morning going? |
I'll have to look it up when I'm at home.
It's ok I suppose. It's hard seeing the consequences of your actions even if you know them already. I'm just listening to r play the piano. It's incredible!. |
You're being really brave and taking everything that's been thrown at you with such strength.
Oh awesome, I love listening to piano pieces. I wish I could play. Can you play an instrument? |
It's great that you're back Lillie! The meetings sound a bit daunting though. Hope it all goes ok.
Sending love Luna <3 I hope your day goes ok Katy. Try not to push yourself too hard. I'm seeing my cc at 1pm. Ceeb. I have nothing to talk about! So it will probably be an hour of talking about tv shows again! |
Hey Beckie, how are you? I hope you meeting goes well and isn't too boring.
|
Im ok thanks.
Had a dream which involved my two dogs that passed away last year so that was a bit sad. But I'm fine! Thanks :) How are you Luna? |
I'm sorry, it's horrible when dreams do that.
I haven't done anything overly productive yet. I've been listening to Ed sheeran's new album and drawing. I ended up throwing away both my drawing though because they were crap. |
Thanks. Dreams can be awful!
I haven't heard any of the new album yet. Is it good? Drawing sounds good! I'm sure they weren't crap, we are our own worst critics! |
I've fallen in love with a few songs, some will probably grown on me.
I've moved on to a new drawing now. Will probs make a cuppa soon. What you up to lovely? |
Cuppa sounds like a good idea. Think I'll go and make one too!
Just watching police interceptors. Need to go to asda after seeing my cc. |
Never watched it. What channel is it on?
Oh yeah, I need to go to Sainsburys after group. |
It's on Spike. I've probably seen all the episodes now!
Fun fun! I hate grocery shopping! |
Me too!
I'll check it out. Currently watching American Dad. |
I like American Dad. It's funny!
I'm watching The Bill now. I can't believe how old it is. I remember watching it as a kid (in secret because my mum didn't want me watching it) |
I never got into the bill but a lot of it was filmed near where my parents live.
|
That's pretty cool!
I hope my cc comes after the episode has finished. She's usually a bit late so hopefully I'll be able to watch the end of it :p |
I hope it goes well with your cc
|
We had a episode of Escape to the Country filmed in my parents village. According to the programme it made it sound like they bought the house but it's still for sale right now. They never moved in for some reason.
|
How strange!
How are you? |
