Did you enjoy yourself?
Yes I did thanks Lorraine. I didn't go for about 4 months and I missed it.
Maybe you could make it a more regular thing. I come here quite a lot, just to get out the flat for a bit.
I should start doing the same! I hate going out so a coffee would be a nice reward.
You should Beckie. I often take my sketchbooks or just log into RYL while I'm here. A lot of people here take their laptops and work away for a while.
I should. Trouble is that I lack the motivation to go outside. Town isn't safe anymore with drugs stuff in the public toilets, fights every week, people slumped in the street due to being high on drugs and being pestered by druggies and alcoholics for money.
Isn't there somewhere closer to your flat that you would feel safer?
There's a community cafe in the next village. I might go there but the trouble is that town is a lot easier to get to.
I'm lucky I live in quite a busy area with coffee shops, pubs and places to eat. The coffee shop nearest is opened until 9pm weekdays too.
I would be worried about that too dawn.
I'm lucky I live in a nice area. I'm seeing my cc tomorrow so hopefully she suggests going for a coffee (so I don't have to pay for it) :tongue2: |
I'm greedy. I finished my tea and I'm now having a cappuccino. I'm just holding off going to the shop. I need washing detergent and food.
My favourite thing to get is a skinny latte. Before I started slimming world my favourite was salted caramel latte. So good! And the cafe near me does really good milkshakes too with real ice cream from their ice cream machine. Butterscotch is lush!
That does sound nice. My sister bought a slimming world recipe book. There were lots of lovely looking stuff in it. I need to lose weight, so I'm thinking of getting inspiration from it.
There are some really good recipes about!
I keep meaning to buy one of the books. |
They sometimes have Slimming World books in The Works for cheap.
Oooo thanks amy, I'll have a look on Thursday after college!
I keep thinking it's Wednesday for some reason. I can't seem to keep track of the days lately! This morning I thought it was Sunday! |
Days are pesky things! Always changing.
I love The Works soooooo many books!
The days this week do feel odd indeed. I keep thinking it's friday for some reason! |
Haha!! Yes Lillie, it's very rude of them :p
It's weird isn't it amy?! |
I want to sleep but I have to cook for 10 people in 5 mins. Booo.
Ah that's annoying! What are you cooking? Hopefully it won't take too long and then you can nap!
I don't actually know lol. Yeah hopefully. But you have to wait till everyone's done and then clear up as well. Boo to this.
That's a pain!
I had similar routines in places I've been. The worst was at the medium secure and we all got locked in the dining room then had to wait until everyone was done and then all the cutlery and plates had to be counted by 2 separate members of staff then wait until they locked the kitchen up and then finally let us out! And some people were really slow eaters! |
That sounds annoying Beckie. Lillie, I hope you get to make something nice.
It was really annoying!
I'm hungry now! Think I'll cook a spag bol. Yum! |
We had the same system on the first ward I went to in rehab. I hated it. They did it for parties as well, and they would last for like 3 hours!
That does sound yummy.
It's so annoying amy! One of the things I missed when I was in hospital was eating what I wanted, where I wanted it and when!
Should be Lorraine. Wish I had some cheese though! I love me some cheese! |
Cheese is always good! Yum.
I would live on it if I could! Lol!
Totally agree Beckie! I find they always do lunch so early in hospital. Like who needs a full on meal at 12pm. I never have mine till like half 1 or 2 at home.
Spag bol sounds yummy :) |
It's one of those comfort foods. I love cheese over a jacket potato. I want cheese now, but I have none.
Yeh, I found hospitals do their meals really early too. I was never hungry at their lunch time.
That's true amy!
And the last hospital I was in served full hot meals plus desserts for lunch and dinner. Which is a bit much imo! I would never cook a full hot meal for lunch! It is Lorraine. Great in cold weather too! Although it's not been freezing today. I'll need to do something with cheese tomorrow! |
Cheese on a jacket = proper comfort food. Definitely thumbs up to that.
At my acute they feed you all the time, although I tend to be put on the old peoples ward. Breakfast is 8, brew and biscuits at 10.30, lunch at 12 ish, brew and more biscuits at 2.30, tea at 5 and then supper at 9. Literally the whole day revolved around food time and fag time! Not exactly the healthiest environment! |
Yep Bex at the acute we got starter, main and dessert!
And at supper they'd put out left over cake!!! No wonder most people were overweight. |
I remember the hospital being early too. I don't eat until at least 1 pm. Literally every single meal had mashed potatoes twice a day got boring. I would have liked jacket potato. But it had a separate kitchen to the rest of the hospital which meant that it was a improvement as the rest of the hospital had cold and bland food. The rest of the hospital had a preordering system and they usually messed up my order.
I just Googled the answer and the trust spends a £1 a meal. No wonder the food is terrible - you can't buy a burger for that much.
The days definitely revolve around food and fags!!
It was the only thing you had to look forward to. I first started smoking when I was in picu, never touched a cigarette before that! Very unhealthy! |
In my acute they wouldn't let you out the back in the secure area unless you smoked, so you had to have S17 leave if you wanted just go out for fresh air out the front, it was ridiculous! No wonder pretty much everyone smoked!
My acute ward had an outside area which was enclosed on all sides bar the door to the ward. The only downside is that it has terrible mobile phone signal. A proper signal is an must as there's nothing to do.
Same in most of the wards I've been In amy! It is ridiculous!
My last hospital had wifi so that was good! |
We had a ward phone so that wasn't a problem.
Mobile phone signal was a bit iffy, and there was no free wifi but at least I had my dongle. That was a lifesafer at times! |
I've used a dongle before. And I think you can now use your phone as a wifi hotspot or something and use laptops and stuff using your phone? Something like that anyway! I'm not too hot on technology!
They have installed wifi since Beckie. I have been for meetings in the building since and used the wifi there so I know that it works. I have bought 2 games for my nintendo 3ds and a portable dvd player since so if I am in the unfortunate position to end up there I will have plenty to do.
We had some odd groups. Everything was aimed at old people as it was an old people ward but did always have a few 20 odd year olds on it. So that was highly annoying.
Anyway they always had this 'lets debate whats in the newspapers group' which they'd always always invite me to as hardly anyone wanted to come. Like no are trying to make me more depressed!!! Good plan Dawn! |
We had a quiz on a newspaper article once. All I can remember is the answer was Malcolm Hebden!
You have some memory!
I like quizzes :) |
I had a quiz in the last visit too and our team won because I knew what html stood for. I was useless at other questions though.
It's always hit and miss with general knowledge questions. Thats probably why they put people in teams so you'll get a bigger overall score.
We used to make up the whackiest team names. I wish I could remember them. |
