I can’t rescan my freesat box so have lost loads of channels too. And freeview is really patchy signal and isn’t strong enough to pick up any HD channels.

And I could never get channel 5 to work!

Hard to imagine what it was like when I think back. We’re so spoiled nowadays...

Wow, Channel 5 started in 1997.

If you think that is bad try living in Wales. 3 English channels. S4c was in Welsh most of the day with English programmes after 10pm. Most channel 4 programmes I never got to see. No channel 5. S4c stopped transmitting at midnight.

Yeah I get it. Life is different now. When I was growing up you didn't have games consoles until I was ten. Now these days kids have all sorts of technology.

I think that kids shouldn't be allowed online until they are in secondary school let alone mobiles or tablets. Even kiddies toys do too much for them don't let them use their imagination.

I don’t know if being that extreme is the answer. It’s just got to be a balance. Keeping children away from mobiles, tablets or any modern technology is not as easy as it sounds.

Yeah it's a difficult one. That's why I am glad that I don't have any kids. Life is different now.

Well I’ve seen my friend’s child growing up with technology all around and it’s really not doing her any harm. It’s hard not to negatively judge what it’s like growing up now compared to 30 years ago but I don’t think it’s any worse, it’s just different. And a lot of it is down to the parents, not that technology is more advanced and available.

Very much agree. Plus there's been some studies that playing educational games and such on an Ipad or whatever which are touch screen can positively impact dexterity and the ability to identify different colours and so on more quickly. Only time will tell I think.
