It's a relief I'm not the only one who finds that difficult. I did my best to he welcoming.
|
What's the history podcast about?
|
I think most people would probably be annoyed at random visitors.
Even if i just turned up at my own mum's, she'd probably be annoyed XD |
In my country it is completely acceptable to just decide you want to see someone and turn up at their house but it is not a practice I endorse
|
Ew. No!
|
You're weird.
I'm watching doctor who. Edit. That's not fair, Pi isn't weird, just her world! |
Same!
I've been binging it. Again! |
I hope you're all settling back home now, Beckie. Do you have much else to do today?
I'm glad your friend didn't stay long if you weren't up for it, Tamo. I too would hate someone turning up randomly. I might not even answer the door. I hid in a cupboard when my friends came once. That was a long time ago. I don't even think I have any friends who would turn up now! Do whatever safe things you need to do, Jen. I've replied to a pen pal letter and had lunch. My neighbour was chatting to me and said her husband had found a dead rat when he was doing something in my garden! Supposedly the action group that my street have started was clearing out the burn and disturbed some rats. Eww! That was ok because she wasn't chatting too much but then on my way back from getting my prescription this annoying guy who talks forever saw me and I kept telling him I was in a rush and I was walking away but he was following me round his hedge so I had to stop and talk. |
Sorry you got harassed by your neighbours osc but top marks for human interactions.
|
Thanks, Tamo. At least I can say I have talked to someone today although I could have done without it!
Are you still watching Doctor Who? |
Yes, quite a creepy episode. I've got used to Matt Smith as the doctor but Clara still bugs me.
|
I know nothing about Doctor Who! I hope the creepy episode doesn't freak you out!
|
Yes we're all settled now thanks!
I have nothing else to do today. I'm quite bored, but I'm also very tired and it's too cold to go out again! It's also still raining. I love rats. But pet ones, not nuisance ones! |
Not as scarey as some :) a ghost turned out to be a time traveller.
|
I hope you can find something to occupy yourself with, Beckie. Soon it will be time for me to write in my diary (my days are pretty structured at some times).
Doctor Who sounds weird! |
Yep weird. It just makes up sciencey sounding stuff as it goes along!
What kind of stuff do you write in your diary? I score myself for different symptoms and tick off activities. |
Empty child is the freakiest one for me.
But even that doesn't scare me as much as it used to. I really don't have anything to do! Doctor who is very weird |
My scariest one is Midnight.
|
I found that one quite boring!
|
It's terrifying! And my saddest ones are the ones in the Library.
|
In my diary I write what I've been up to and how I've been feeling mostly. I used to use a website to track my mood and symptoms etc but don't any more and I have a separate sheet to tick off my tasks.
Maybe you can join in with Doctor Who watching, Beckie? Is there anything you might be able to focus on right now? Like the other book I sent you? Or finding out more guinea pig facts to share with us? |
Do you find your diary helpful?
|
I do find it helpful to write things down. I worry about when I die if people might read them though! I'll have to put it in my will that all notebooks have to be set on fire!
|
I did have a nap. Feeling mildly better.
Podcast is called Not Just The Tudors, and it's about history in the Tudor and Stewart periods so 16th and 17th Century. It covers UK history in that time period but also other parts of the world. This podcast was about Quebec on 1650 |
Hopefully mildly better can be a start to feeling even more better.
I'm not into history which seems bad to say. |
Wouldn't call it bad not to be into history. It can be pretty dry if not presented right. I didn't enjoy it at school but that was mainly because the teacher had a vendetta against me!
|
I keep all mine too! I don't think mine would be very interesting to anyone except me.
|
I'm not really interested in history either. They tried to make it fun at school but...
|
That's a shame, Jen. One of my History teachers was good and was always bringing in memorabilia and things. The other history teacher was scary!
My diaries have lots of things in them that I wouldn't want my brother to read. I don't tell him a lot about how I'm feeling and what's happening. |
Maybe go back, write it all in code for yourself and throw out the original! Just the most secret bits.
|
It is what is. I always enjoyed the subject but not the teacher and luckily history is something that's fairly easy to engage with as an amateur.
My Dad sparked my interest in history, we would go to lots of historical places on our UK holidays when I was a kid like castles, museums and cathedrals. And went I went to Rome with him and my Mum he was our private tour guide filling us in on the history behind the places as he studied classics at Uni. That and he watched a lot of history and archaeology programs on TV. I don't keep a diary. Just write stuff on my RV or on my phone notes app on occassion. And then sometimes delete the notes after the moment has passed. |
I am already watching doctor who!
My mum read my diary when i was a teenager and got me sectioned again. Didn't speak to her for ages! I wrote a diary type thing on my laptop in 2010ish for a while. One of my brothers read it but it didn't bother me because we're very close and he knows a lot anyway! Mildly better is better than not better! Or worse! My history teacher was the pervy teacher (there's always one!) One of my brothers did a history degree. Not quite sure why! He doesn't do anything history related now (i don't think?) |
My ex history teacher was on a TV programme called Heir Hunters once.
|
Reading someone else's diary without permission is very Rude!
Mildly better is better than not better or worse for sure. Still reckon I might be spending most of my day in bed. Our DT teacher was the pervy teacher. Maybe your brother just did a history degree cos he kind of liked the subject and wanted to go to uni? |
It is!
Tbf, my brother just kind of stumbled upon it when i gifted him the laptop. And my mum read my diaries because she was worried. Which, as a parent, i kind of get now. I'm not sure I'd do it to jasmine though. If bed is where you need to be, then absolutely have a bed day! I think he did really like history. He took a gap year and just kind of pottered about and worked as a home carer for a bit. I swear he's had every kind of job! He works, lives and studies in Thailand now. |
I guess I can see if you were really worried about someone you could think the ends might justify the means.
Might even try closing my eyes and lying down again rather than sitting propped up. Just eating lunch and walking to and from bathroom has tired me out. As long as he is enjoying himself that's the main thing. |
She genuinely feared for my life. So i guess it was worth her dealing with my teenage angst and the silent treatment for that!
I hope you manage to get some rest! Yes, absolutely! He's loving it out there. Merry is chomping on some watermelon. First time I've given it to them and he's absolutely loving it! |
Om nom nom Watermelon!
|
Just popping in, hope everyone’s okay x
|
Watermelon is delicious tbf.
I love listening to them eat. It's like ASMR! Hey beth! How are you doing? |
My mum read my diary once when I was a teenager. I was stupid, left it around saying "this is very secret, don't read it" too much temptation! I held it against her for a long time.
|
I love watermelon, and listening to cute animal eating noises. I like human eating crisps noises as long as they keep their mouth shut. I used to rest my ear on my friend's cheek when she was eating crisps at school. Weirdo!
Hi Beth, how are things? |
Humans eating annoys me, even when it's the same food that the guinea pigs eat!
Just doesn't have the same effect! That is a little weird! Lol! |
My Mum also read my first ever diary which was quite mild but it mentioned me lifting up a toy chest with a heavy typewriter on it to help her hide her alcohol and it was breaking my back. I was very upset. Then she said she wasn't going to let me help her any more which made me more upset because she had osteoporosis and might have hurt her back the typewriter was so heavy. In the end she continued to let me help her.
My friend told me my brother was reading my diaries later on when I was unwell so I ripped out the pages into little pieces, shoved them in a bottle, filled it with water, and put it in the bin. I wish I still had those diaries to see where it all started. |
It's so upsetting when people betray your trust like that.
Especially when you're young! Because merry is in a bad mood, he keeps chasing poor pippin. Hopefully they chill out soon! |
Are they related? Poor Pippin probably just wants some peace.
|
I don't think so.
He does! He just sits there, minding his own business, and Merry just comes and hassles him! They're both in different hides now because the letterbox went! They've been more skittish than usual since we got back. What's everyone having for dinner? |
Lentil curry :)
|
They'll take time to settle probably. You have to say nice comforting words to them. :-)
I had soup. Think it was sweet potato and chilli. |
Lovely tamo!
I love lentils They will. Once they're back in their routine and had a good sleep, they'll be ok. Ooh nice! |
