Just had a really good visit with an advanced clinical practioner while in SDEC, she really took the time to look at the whole picture. Think we have more of an understanding of what's going on and a tentative plan to try and break the cycle of asthma flares. Plus she is going to refer me to respiratory physios for long term.
Just waiting to see the consultant. And then hopefully I can go home. But definitely feeling more in control of everything and like I understand what's going on. |
Whoop, whoop!!!
That's great news, Jen!!! Bless the appearing of a clever and empathetic gp!!! They really do exist!!! (Though are hard to find outside their natural habitats) |
I'm glad they're trying to get on top of this lr. And that they're being speedy.
|
I wouldn't want to shower in Asda, lol!
Hi Kat, I hope you're ok. Don't be pushing yourself too much if you're feeling unwell. I'm pleased to hear that you're feeling more in control and understanding of things, Jen. Hope the consultant has something useful to offer. |
Oh that's great news Jen :)
Kat, what Lindsay said- don't push yourself too hard! How is everyone doing this afternoon? I bring you news that my father referenced an email today and when he went to read allowed from it he opened not an email, but a whatsapp message on his phone. WHATSAPP MESSAGES AREN'T EMAILS!!! (Sorry, I get irate when kids at work describe teams messages as 'texts' - like no, you absolutely did not 'text' me.) |
Hi osc and Pi.
|
Ack, Jenna!!! I too appreciate the correct terms for technical wonders!!!
My dad who is 76 and a major computer geek, still has not realised that there is a rather major significance between megabits and megabytes!!! Which is bloody annoying but i'm very scared i'll break his heart of unlimited dad-wisdom if i ever mention it…!!! That'd be bad. Like stealing someone's mojo!!! (this is my mojo dojo casa house!!!) ((Sorry. Major fan of the Barbie movie!!!!)) |
I love that movie!
|
I am home again and feel like I may actually get to stay here this time.
Consultant didn't have all the answers, as she can't work out exactly what is causing asthma to flare so I still need to see respiratory specialists, but have an extra referral to respiratory physiotherapy to help me manage my symptoms. Meds have been sorted, got some anti stomach acid ones plus staying on steroids and this time coming off them very slowly will be reducing dose by xmg a week for next 5 weeks at which point I hopefully get to come off entirely. And wait and see respiratory outpatients to see if we can pinpoint exact cause and whether we need to change around my regular medication. But yeah a much better plan than just here are some steroids come back if it gets worse ok bye. Which is what I have mostly had the last 3 hospital visits. |
Hello everyone!
I have caught up, but struggling to think about anything too clearly after being annoyed at a new GP situation! Detailed in RV! I do have enough capacity to say, Jenna, I believe you meant 'aloud' instead of 'allowed' :tongue2: Unless my brain is really fried I'm glad you're back jen! |
Oh bloody hell you’re absolutely right Beckie, what an eejit I am!!!
|
I get 'past' and 'passed' mixed up a lot. I often have to sit and stare at it and I'm still unsure which is correct!
|
Yes, that is a nasty one!
I also have an update on squash/diluting juice - my mother was talking about calling in to someone's house unannounced and finding that they were eating a carryout so on the topic of the cultural practices of my home nation I asked what they called the drink I was drinking. Squash was mentioned, but mum seemed most comfortable with 'diluting juice' and dad was settled on "orange juice". It was peach squash, unclear whether all squash is just orange juice though... |
Don't feel bad, Beckie and Jenna. If we did not have autocorrect, most of what i write would be impossible to make sense of. I get carried away when i write. Lots of typos, forgetting letters, sometimes entire sentences, accidently switching certain letters for wrong ones, etc….
Back in School, i had english since 4th grade. I understood nada. Absolutely nothing!!! Fast forward to 8th grade where my dad installed internet on my very old pc that ran Windows 3.1. Not a lot of people in Denmark were online at that time so if you wanted to communicate with people, you kind of had to do it in english. That was Way better than an intensive course!!! But my poor english teacher was not happy with all the slang i picked up….. Bless her!! ;) |
Oh wow, that's such a neat story of how you learnt English!!
|
Absolutely exhausted but can't nap. Super frustrated. Came on to moan. Going to close my eyes and try again now.
|
Jen <3
I've just sat here saying "past" and "passed" out loud for a few minutes trying to convince myself that they are clearly pronounced differently. |
Sending good wishes, Jen.
Are they really pronounced differently? |
Only by posh Southern folk I think! Wait, no, wouldn't they just say them both with a long 'a' sound?? Can a Southerner send a voice recording of this plz.
|
Some Scottish people can't say Carol and Carl differently but I think I can.
|
Carol and Carl are very different!
I'm a posh southerner who pronounces passed and past the same =( I think common southerners would as well though? Parst. Are they different in the north? |
Lindsay- feel free to prove it by sending a voice recording!
Some American people can't say bobble and bauble differently. |

|
NP, are you posh??!??!
If you are common then prove it by screaming “viva la revoluci?n!!! “ I shall accept no other proof!!! |
Noooo!!! Ryl can't do a spanish o!!!! >:(
|
Jenna thinks so.
|
In that case NP, i am so sorry and please accept my deepest sympathies :(
|
Thanks......
|
In fairness, I think anyone with a Southern accent is posh because growing up in The North it seemed to me as though the only people I knew who spoke like that were dead posh and rich.
|
I think accents are really interesting and so much of it is simply down to perception or not being exposed to it.
|
I eventually napped for about 30 minutes before a pillow fell on my head and woke me up. It felt very rude of the pillow.
Do feel a bit better for my mini nap though and am now going to have a late dinner. Not super hungry because ill but best to have something. P.s. sorry for not super engaging in thread convo I am not really with it |
Had sausages, Hashbrowns and beans for dinner. Very basic and just the kind of thing I needed.
Anyone else about? I am bored and slightly spicy from being tired and wired. |
That's an excellent comfort food dinner.
|
Comfort food ftw.
I hit the wall, back in bed and hopefully asleep soon. |
Hope you can get some rest, Jen.
|
Sending many sleepy vibes!
|
L has gone so i am now alone. Sad times.
Anyone else about? Though I'll probably be in bed once meds have kicked in! |
I have been trying to sleep but my lungs have started complaining so sat up again for a bit, taken some inhaler and keeping an eye on things.
Hope you are in bed asleep though Beckie. |
Just about to go
Tell your lungs that beckie said you'd better behave yourselves and let jen sleep!!! Why do our bodies seem to want to do the opposite of what they're meant to do? |
Goodnight Beckie!
I will tell my lungs but they aren't the best listeners XD Probably cos they are is stubborn as we are :P |
That's true jen!
Morning everyone! |
Morning Beckie.
I got to sleep eventually but woke up a few times. Around 5 and a half hours so better than yesterday just about. Trying to gather energy to go do meds and breakfast. |
That's something!
Take it slow! What's for breakfast? |
I had Weetabix and banana with milk and a cup of tea. Done inhaler and meds that need to be taken with food. Just about to do other morning meds.
How are you doing this morning? |
Weetabix and banana are a winning combination!
I'm not too bad thanks. Got to go to asda, pharmacy and aldi this morning before work. I have what i believe is a corn on my foot and it hurts a lot! Nhs website says part of the treatment is not walking a lot or long distances??? Don't know how I'm meant to avoid that one XD Unless i suddenly gained the ability to float. That would be cool. |
It's one of my go-to breakfasts I find it fills me up just the right amount, It's easy to make and fruit is good for you!
Your shift starts at 12 right? Is it rainy near you? It's very cloudy and threatening rain here. I kind of hope it is rainy for you so noone sits in the garden and you get a calmer shift! Although not so calm it is boring of course! Eurgh to potential corn. I think there are corn plasters you can get that provide a cushion for the area so at least if you have to walk a lot(which when you can't drive you do) it will rub less. Maybe pharmacy could advise? Floating would be epic. I wouldn't need my stick anymore! Meds are all done apart from iron tablet that has to be two hours after certain foods and drinks. Usually take it mid morning. One of my favourite bands Walk Off the Earth (band who did the taekwondo song I showed you) just dropped a new album today so I am chilling on the sofa listening to that. The band have extremely good vibes for me, my third date with my partner (before we were officially in a relationship) was to one of their gigs as I had a spare ticket as a friend flaked. He says it's the night he knew he wanted to be with me forever and has kept the ticket all this time! Ten years and change later we are still together and I can't imagine life without him. Sorry got all soppy there :wow: |
Morning :) it's chucking it down here. I'm hoping Mum gets back with the car or the rain stops before 12.10pm so I can get to Confession without getting soaked.
Lr, I hope you have a hospital free day. Cacoethes I hope you have fun at work. |
Morning Tamo!
I hope your mum gets back soon so you do not have to get soaked on the way to confession and that you find confession helpful. I too am hoping for a hospital free day. Am feeling better this morning but not super confident in that because I felt better in the morning on Wednesday morning and then had an attack and ended up in A&E Wednesday afternoon/ evening. Trying to take everything very slow and mindfully. I did however get bored and as I am wired from steroids felt the need to do something. But needed to make sure I wasn't exerting myself physically as underneath the wired I am exhausted so have just done some life admin including renewing TV license, rescheduling hygienist appointment and updating medical info on dental records. Feeling a bit like how is it still morning??? I have done my morning routine of breakfast, meds, teeth etc. really slowly and done a load of life admin but it's only 10:30am. Then again I usually don't get up until 9am at the earliest and more often around 10am and I have been awake since 6:30am. The one thing about steroids is they seem to be making me more productive XD And super rambly XD |
Steroids sound like a tricky beast.
|
Hi all :)
I'll take a couple of those sterorids, Jen. I could do with a minor energy boost ;) Tamo, what is it like going to confession?? Is it like in the movies where you sit in an enclose next to the priest?? I've always found it quite fascinating. Beckie, roller skates is obviously the only logical solution for your foot problem!!! You're welcome *tips hat* XD |
