human leg found

a human leg was found down the road from the village i live in, it was found yesterday by a member of the public.
it is believed to belong to a male.
Officers from the Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit have been carrying out a search of the area.

A police spokeswoman said: "Detectives are looking into every possibility as to why the remains came to be there."

nothing EVER happens in my village
ITV vans and forensic vans were there today.
its quite exciting

Spoons 23-03-2009 09:19 PM

eeeek i dont know what id do if i found a leg, probably scream at the top of my lungs.

Popple 23-03-2009 10:04 PM

Eww =\ I would be so freaked out if I found that! It was bad enough when I found a dead cat lol
Will give the old ladies something to talk about!

extreme turbulance 23-03-2009 10:19 PM

Was this on the sky new headlines? like a leg that had been found with a shoe on it? i saw about that earlier but i dont know if this is the same one!

Popple 23-03-2009 10:20 PM

^ Probably! Its not like legs are just found randomly every day..well you never know..

Cacoethes 23-03-2009 10:24 PM

i found out cos its 5 mins drive from where i live.
there were loads of police vans and forensic vans and stuff.
it is slightly scary
too close to home for me

Spoons 23-03-2009 10:26 PM

Perhaps i'm missing something, but i don't see what's exciting about the discovery of a dismembered body, or rather, body parts. I find the news disturbing, it's the sign of a violent homocide and a murderer on the loose!

Merc 24-03-2009 10:44 AM

i aheve top agree ^^...
i dont really see how it can be called 'exciting'...
romp

Cacoethes 24-03-2009 05:40 PM

obviously not excited about the actual dismemberment part, that is rather disturbing
it was just quite exciting seeing all the news vans and stuff, nothing ever happens round here

extreme turbulance 24-03-2009 05:58 PM

I can see the excited element!

Raven 24-03-2009 06:17 PM

they found a head in a bag round from me on new years eve. it is a bit unnerving when that happens, especially as you know that you have walked by it and not known.

Cacoethes 28-03-2009 07:39 PM

police were at my house this morning.
asking about the leg :s
apparently its a chinese leg

whirlpools 28-03-2009 07:42 PM

wow, that sounds really scary. i guess it's not good news for the rest of the body; if the person was okay then i think they'd have told someone about their leg being missing by now. but then, if someone was killed, the person who killed them, why are they leaving legs lying around?

sorry i'm rambling.

i hope things get less scary soon.

x-dying-inside-x 28-03-2009 08:13 PM

Cacoethes 28-03-2009 08:55 PM

There were some king prawn noodles close by.

(in all serious, probably d.n.a testing & that kinda thing)

Panic Trials 29-03-2009 03:10 PM

the rest of him might still be alive...it would narrow the search down a lot if there was a one legged man wandering around.

Cacoethes 29-03-2009 09:09 PM

totally
the leg thing is kinda becoming a running joke in our village :s
im gonna try to find out more

Police find severed arm after leg discovered
Mon Mar 30, 2009 11:32am BST
LONDON (Reuters) - Police investigating the discovery of a man's severed leg beside a lay-by in Hertfordshire said on Monday they had found an arm in a country road 25 miles away.

It was highly likely both limbs came from the same body but this would not be confirmed until further tests had been conducted, Hertfordshire Constabulary said.

Walkers found the arm lying on a grass verge in Drovers Lane, Wheathampstead, 30 miles north of London, around midday on Sunday.

The leg, discovered in a green holdall by the A507 road near the village of Cottered a week earlier, is believed to come from an adult white or Asian man between 5ft 6ins and 5ft 10ins (1.67m to 1.77m) in height.

The man appears to have had a skin condition that discoloured the pigmentation around the ankle, police said.

"This is a very unusual incident and we are working meticulously to establish who the body parts belong to and how they came to be in Cottered and Wheathampstead," said Detective Chief Inspector Mick Hanlon.

"We are conducting a number of enquiries including area searches and are continuing to check missing person records to make sure we leave no stone unturned."

Keep Smiling 02-04-2009 01:50 AM

tbh I think it must be linked, no matter the distance between each body-parts. it's too much of a coincidence .

Keep Smiling 02-04-2009 01:52 AM
