RYL Patchwork Quilt - LAST DAY TOMORROW!
 

A brand new thread for a brand new RYL :)

This is going to be a crazy patchwork,
that means patch sizing can vary and can be as bright, bold and different as you like!



There are two options if you would like help:-


Send fabric/beads/ribbons etc on there own-
If you're not very good at sewing, or dont have the time then you can still be a part by doing this :)

Or


Make a patch!

Patch requirements:

Patches can now be any size up to 7" by 7"
With a 1/4" border all the way around. This should be plain, its for me to attach the other patches!


Whatever you choose to do, once you are finished, pm me and I will give you my address :)




Chelsea's foolproof guide to patch making:-


1) Get your Dad/Mum/trustworthy adult to cut you a peice of material to the right size.
2) Get glue and ribbons, sequins, felt, foam, bubble wrap, 3D art glue, and go crazy.
3) Send it to Aimee.

ooh! I have some nomex I could use! (its a fire resistant coth that is used in race car drivers clothes and parachute covers and such)

This may be a silly question, but when you say a 1/4 border, does that mean that bit has to be just plain, so really it's like a 7 x 7 patch with that extra bit purely for attaching other patches to it, ooor is it like a funky decorative border, so it's effectively a 7 1/4 x 7 1/4 patch? I hope that makes sense..

No the border is plain, its how im going to attach the other patches. Not a silly question at all- 'tis a good point, I shall make it more clear :)

Yeh there is still time to join in, as of yet there is no deadline cuz we need as many patches as you awesome people can make. otherwise it will be a small quilt.

once they're made, PM Craola, and then she will give you a address to send them too.

Ok, i made 1 patch and am about to make another one.. the first patch is pretty standard, it is just cloth sewn together (yeah, thats right, this boy can sew!) the next patch i have an idea for, but i don't know exactly if the matrials are ok? i'm thinking having just a black cloth with a piece of carbon fiber plate 'sewn' to it with metal wire. i think it would look pretty cool, but it obviously cant be washed (but neither can patches that are glued on) i would be very careful to make sure that the ends of the metal wire are tucked under or folded in a way that they couldn't poke someone. so would that be ok?

Nope this is the same quilt, we decided to put it to the back for a while as everyone had exams, and this is now the final push to get more before it gets put together. Depending how it goes we may do another one or something slightly different :)
