What have you been diagnosed with?

Just curious really.

I'm Bipolar and Borderline and I also have an OCD.

Cryptic. 10-12-2008 12:42 PM

Anxiety, ADHD, OCD, possible BPD (too young), Bulimia, I heard my psych say I have attatchment disorder or dependent or something? Something along those lines. Labels, labels, labels.

sherlock holmes 10-12-2008 12:51 PM

Borderline Personality Disorder. And anxiety.

Old diagnoses are Attachment Disorder, Depressive Disorder, Sub Threshold Depression.

Two sort of diagnoses of Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder and Avoidant Personality Disorder.

alienshe_cheesycake 10-12-2008 02:54 PM

Erm Depression, anxiety and Pychosis I think
I've yet to be diagnosed with Bulimia but I'm pretty sure I have it

Misunderstood. 10-12-2008 02:56 PM

Schizoaffective Bipolar Type
General Anxiety Disorder
Borderline PD Traits.
Social Phobia
Previously Bulemic

Marko 10-12-2008 03:33 PM

last one they labelled me with was schizoaffective depressive type. i aint been back since.

Arioch 10-12-2008 03:54 PM

Severe depression and general anxiety disorder.

LetMeSlipAway 10-12-2008 04:07 PM

Clinical Depression (which I think is wrong)
Anxiety Disorder
OCD traits when SH'ing (rituals)
forgot to mention PTSD :s

previosuly had anorexia traits when younger
and doctors currently looking into a new diagnosis (which is leaning towards Bipolar)

Heidi Tiger 10-12-2008 04:12 PM

It amazes me how many people on here have multiple diagnoses, surely it's unusual for so many disorders to be co-morbid. Like I understand some things like depression and anxiety going hand in hand, but I've not heard that having one disorder puts you at risk for having others.

Mine are plain old depression and anxiety, though there's been a bit of talk as to wether my depression is psychotic depression or not. And PTSD has been mentioned a few times, but then again a lot of things have been mentioned once or twice, it's like they just throw out random diagnoses and then change thier mind.

everylastbit 10-12-2008 04:13 PM

Major Depressive Disorder
Borderline Personality Disorder
Social Anxiety Disorder

Unofficial diagnoses of Avoidant Personality Disorder, Psychosis and Anorexia

Droplet 10-12-2008 04:30 PM

Depression, school phobia (weird one), anorexia.

Now - bipolar.

surprising mystery 10-12-2008 04:39 PM

My gf is diagnosed with BPD and Bi Polar, as well as other things.

Im diagnosed with;
Generalised/ social anxiety disorder with panic attacks
Emetophobia
OCD
Anorexia (previously) Now I would imagine Im ED-NOS
Borderline Personality Disorder
Depression

Personally, I feel my main problems are BPD, ED-NOS, Anxiety (in all places) and obsessive and intrusive thoughts. I am emetophobic though.

I was very depressed at one point, but my mood swings can be attributed to the BPD, so it doesnt really count.

My first diagnoses were Anorexia, OCD and Depression when I was 16. Though things have changed since then cos the adult team think I have BPD, but they still realise I have a lot of anxiety related problems/disorders and an ED.

Stellata 10-12-2008 04:43 PM

Medically - Longstanding treatment resistant/recurrent depression.

Psychotherapeutically - Complex Trauma

sherlock holmes 10-12-2008 04:46 PM

I find it weird that people have current diagnosis of BPD and depression (I'm not saying anyone is lying, just that I find it weird) because normally BPD encompasses depression, there is not normally a seperate disorder.

My old diagnoses of sub threshold depression were basically disgregarded after I got my BPD diagnosis.

_embrace 10-12-2008 04:55 PM

social phobia, agorophobia, depression

Starburst 10-12-2008 05:08 PM

I have been diagnosed with;
Anorexia Nervosa, then Bulimia but they still have Anorexia as an official diagnosis - not sure why!
Bipolar Affective Disorder
PTSD
OCD

Psychedelic Doodle Pop 10-12-2008 05:12 PM

Aye, I also find some of the comorbid stuff a bit strange, like a lot of people who have comorbid borderline + whatever diagnoses, bpd encompasses so many symptoms.

Doctors do tend to throw around labels, but it's different to having an official diagnosis, I believe.

Like, a lot of my symptoms could be diagnoses on their own, but aren't because I'm diagnosed with BPD. For instance the ED Specialist said I have Bulimia in the context of BPD. I also suffer from panic attacks and such.

I'm diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder and Depression with Psychotic Features. I do find it confusing that I have bpd and depression, but my understanding is they are two separate disorders in y case because whilst have the crazy ups and downs of bpd I also have episodes of depression that causes psychotic symptoms that have previously been mistaken for full blown schizophrenia before, whilst it is actually apart of the depression (and I've been through the schizoaffective stuff, I think they dropped that, it hasn't been mentioned lately).

In adolescent services I was diagnosed with severe/extreme ocd with predominant obsessive thoughts and poor insight. But I'm pretty sure I don't have it anymore, and various doctors have agreed or disagreed with me. I wouldactually question if I had it in the first place.

Sorry, not saying I disbelieve anyone, more that I'm interested. Hope this hasn't offended, and osrry for the long diagnostic ramble.

We are not just our diagnoses, remember that always.

Wonderful. 10-12-2008 05:32 PM

Depression, which is bull ****. So I never went back. That is all. =]

Runa 10-12-2008 05:47 PM

Severe Generalised Anxiety Disorder
Depression
ED-NOS

They think I have SAD as well as a Panic Disorder too...

Amaryllis 10-12-2008 05:59 PM

I was diagnosed with depression/anxiety and then later with PTSD, I am unsure if PTSD encompasses depression.

I was also diagnosed with ADHD, but I've never been on medication for that. One of my doctors suggested that I may not have ADHD, that it may just be that it fit without any knowledge of what was going on in my life that would actually account for my symptoms. I have a feeling that he was probably right.

Minty 10-12-2008 06:13 PM

Anxiety and depression is all I have seen on my notes never been told a diagnosis. At least its easy to say :)

Pomegranate 10-12-2008 06:17 PM

I have been told Depression with pd traits before (when I was 14-16) but I stopped seeing them.

Now (20) the BPD label keeps being batted around and I swing between agreeing with it and not and I don't think it is an official diagnosis yet.

-phoenix- 10-12-2008 06:22 PM

depression
anxiety
anorexia (for the first 3 years)
bulimia (after those 3 years till now)

i hate labels :( makes me feel like a freak...xXx

kits 10-12-2008 07:24 PM

Schizoaffective disorder and ED-NOS

what_the? 10-12-2008 07:35 PM

Major depressive Disorder, which is a fun one, I've just got a new psych who seems to contest this and thinks that all my problems are caused by lack of money and too much alcohol..... so we'll just see how long it lasts,
BPD and schizoaffective have been thrown around, but I don't believe that I have either of those, especially not schizoaffective.

tamobhuuta 10-12-2008 08:05 PM

most recent:
?psychotic depression (although right now more of a ? i think)

We are not just our diagnoses, remember that always.

Labels get thrown about all over the place, you're right. I didn't get a proper diagnosis until I sat with two psychologists and answered about 800 questions, but even with that in mind, I've still got 3 labels.

My CPN says that everybody has such individual mental illness traits that nobody completely fits the mould for any one diagnosis, and therefore often people are given two or three that encompass the lot.

They're just labels, and we're all individual.
