first hot chocolate of the season

I don't know what the weather is like for you at the moment, but it's a bit of a chilly night here. So I decided it was time. From the back of the cupboard I dug out a jar of something i've been saving since the beginning of spring. Hot Chocolate. Options, Belgian Chocolate flavour.
Normally I hate the cold. I'd rather be warm and comfy, like the weather we've had this summer, when it wasn't raining. but this is the good part of the coming winter; the fact that I can now start drinking hot chocolate again. It just doesn't taste the same when drinking it late on a summers night.
So I'm taking it upon myself to officially declare Hot Chocolate Season: OPEN.

Enjoy drinking.

Heidi Tiger 09-10-2008 10:22 PM

ha I had hot chocolate as my breakfast all of last week.

And my students union does a hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshamallows that costs about £1 but is so so yummy!

But then again at uni I foolishly got hot chocolate out of a vending machine, but there was no chocolate, it was just hot! like hot milky sweet water with no chocolate, so disappointed.

charcoal feathers 09-10-2008 10:24 PM

ha, i've just made myself a nice hot chocolate to go to bed with!

PixieHope. 09-10-2008 10:47 PM

Me and my housemate actually made hot chocolate tonight with the same brand and flavour.

Spookyyyyyy!

Jayne. 09-10-2008 10:50 PM

I've just made Ovaltine!!!!
I drink hot chocolate all year round (I'm always freezing).
You can't beat a winter night with a hot chocolate and blanket though.

Absi 09-10-2008 11:08 PM

you need hobnobs and a film with a blanket on the sofa or hot chocolate with hobnobs in the bath <3 nom. =]

The Stolen One 09-10-2008 11:12 PM

Heh heh excellent, but can I just ask, while I'm here have they started selling eggnog in Starbucks yet?! They seem to do them every year around xmas time but I don't know how early on they start.
They're my favourite drink of all time; don't care how much they cost..:-)

Feel_Good_inc. 10-10-2008 12:23 AM

Some stores have xmas decorations up already. And I've seen Xmas related commercials on TV and they're all winter related things. I wouldn't put it past starbucks to have it on their menu already.

GlitterTrashDoll 10-10-2008 12:45 AM

I've seen chocolate bars with snow on their wrappers. >.<

I love Orange hot chocolates by Options. It's like a Terrys chocolate orange.. but in hot liquid form. ;]]

Accidentally Abstract 10-10-2008 12:55 AM

Mmmm, hot chocolate. =D
I don't have any hot chocolate. Sad times.

akita 10-10-2008 05:08 AM

I love hot chocolate so it doesn't matter that its spring right now but thank you *takes one*

Lil'MissLaLa 10-10-2008 08:15 AM

Feel_Good_inc. 10-10-2008 10:17 AM

Gravity 10-10-2008 10:24 AM

Cup of hot chocolate whilst you're meant to be working.

Can't beat it.

Coppelia 10-10-2008 10:33 AM

:-) ThankYou.

I've not yet embraced the coming winter with quite the same zeal. Yesterday I bought a milkshake (go figure) but I have found myself being drawn to the hot chocolate asisle in Tesco....I think the time is nigh!

Misunderstood. 10-10-2008 01:17 PM

Some of the hot chocolates I've seen in Tesco's are like £6 and similar prices, mmm. I spent out on one a few years ago, but I actually a bit dissapointed. Maybe I didn't add enough sugar =/
Better to leave it to cafes in my case lol unless it's one of the sachet jobs like the options in the picture [a lot of sachets in a jar, instant type, you get my drift..]

Cathy 10-10-2008 02:39 PM

you dont put sugar in hot chocolate do you?
i must try the orange hot chocolate.

umm.. does eggnog taste of egg? sounds awful to me whatever it tastes like!

Caru y Nos 10-10-2008 02:44 PM

^ I've never ever put sugar in my hot chocolates.... far too sweet already lol. Though i do know how to make mine all creamy (i use milk, not the water stuff).

Orange hot chocolate sounds interesting.... i want to try now! :-D

1st Question - depends how bitter it is in the first place. (i thought this was self explanatory lol but there you go)

2nd Question - no dear, it doesn't taste of egg.

*restrains my despair of some people*

Cathy 10-10-2008 04:07 PM

i don't feel patronised or annoyed at all.

lolly_x 10-10-2008 04:46 PM

hot chocolate right it actually has to taste sweet. don't taste sweet i am very disappointed. I love starbucks hot chocolate. its perrrfectttt!!!!!

Virgin trains need added sugar

HopeRises 10-10-2008 04:54 PM

mm hot choclate. I tend to drink it all year round but yes its yummy.
I love snuggling up with a hot choclate, choclate and a blanket.

BeautyFiend 10-10-2008 04:55 PM

nom nom nom.

i love hot chocolate.
at college when it was cold we used to go buy a hot chocolate and a chomp for dunkage.
sometimes we'd dunk fudge bars, they're not as gooey and dunkable but chops sold out well fast ='[

-Shae-Lynn* 10-10-2008 04:59 PM

what_the? 10-10-2008 05:17 PM

it's not that hard is it :P
i just put milk in, stick it in microwave for 2 minuites or whatever i feel like doing at the time, then get it out, put the recommended amout in and voila!
or i guess you could get fancy with whipped cream etc :P

Caru y Nos 13-10-2008 08:27 AM

I love the way Caz (Not_So_Get-a-username-i-can-be-bothered-to-type-please) keeps posting on a thread relating to hot choc ;]

akita 13-10-2008 08:44 AM

Feel_Good_inc. 13-10-2008 10:28 AM

Caru y Nos 13-10-2008 11:41 AM

I'vce decided to hate you because now i'll have to go to the canteen and buy a hot choc for a rediculous price because ireallywantone after that picture *drools*

yes! yes it really is! it doesn't seem to woooooork for me *sobs*. i end up with bits of chocolate lumps in. my friend makes amazing hot chocolate, really sweet with a little tiny bit of cream on top, and cinnamon on top of that <3

Tig 13-10-2008 01:41 PM

Hot chocolate = yummy, especially with cream!

Feel_Good_inc. 13-10-2008 02:07 PM

there's a cafe near me that does a wonderful hot chocolate in large mug, with three inches of cream on top and your choice of cinnamon or chocolate power sprinkled on top with a complimentary biscotti for dipping. all for £1.50
In the winter, it's the best thing.

It's basically like the picture Black Rose put up, only more cream and the glass is twice as tall.

Katiecakes. 13-10-2008 02:14 PM

O.O
That sounds like the best thing ever.
Where do you live? =P
I love that Costa do a mint hot choccy in the winter. It's so tasty =D

Feel_Good_inc. 13-10-2008 02:16 PM

Rotherham, near Sheffield. Probably a little too far for you to travel just for a hot chocolate.

Katiecakes. 13-10-2008 02:18 PM

Hmm, that's true.
I'll just have to settle with my own hot choccy.
