I want a hedgehog

Anyone here have one? They're so awesome, I mean seriously how can you say no to this:

Opinions?

all-hope.lost-forever 14-03-2008 01:57 AM

Aww cute... Be a bit akward to pick it up and stuff though.

JumpinJackFlash 14-03-2008 02:08 AM

Not if they like you.

Narcissism 14-03-2008 02:13 AM

They're a wild animal, to forcefully remove from the wild would be disgusting.
Or to breed them in captivity to domesticate them is equally disgusting.

It's WILDLIFE for f*cks sake. Leave it alone.

Quit making me look bad.

IceBreak 14-03-2008 03:13 AM

Hedgehogs are cute but I agree with danz they are wild animals and should be left in their natural habitat... the only way I would ever think a hedgehog should be kept outwith its habitat is unless it was injured and it had to be taken off for a while to get cared for before being released back into the wild, this is the only conditions I would say would be right for having one.

Stop messing with wildlife then.

You did ask for opinions.

~invisible~girl~ 14-03-2008 03:16 AM

I had a hedgehog once. They don't do well in captivity.

Misunderstood. 14-03-2008 03:21 AM

awww they're very cute =))

Snow White. 14-03-2008 04:54 AM

Em; you had a hedgehog? People actually have hedgehogs?!

*grins*
Look at the cute lil thing in a hat.
:D

~invisible~girl~ 14-03-2008 05:00 AM

Yep, I had a hedgehog. People do keep them as pets, but they're not really domesticated, and they tend to have health problems and stuff from the stress of living in captivity.

Isoverity 14-03-2008 05:05 AM

I tried raising a llama I got from someone here once but it grew up sooo wrong!

XxXflowerfairyXxX 14-03-2008 08:37 AM

I rescued one once ...
But we let it go when it was better.
I would like a hedgehog but I guess you can't really just pick on out of the garden and be like "you're mine now!"
But I'm gunna get a goat which is far superior to a hedgehog!

x-dying-inside-x 14-03-2008 01:36 PM

it is cute but i could never have one.

BarrelO'Crazy 14-03-2008 01:45 PM

They are a protected species anyway so not only would it be wrong for you to keep one it would be illegal. There should also be laws against dressing up animals.

Dreaming. 14-03-2008 04:27 PM

Hehe, Jack.

I've always wanted a baby seal.

klo_flo 14-03-2008 05:15 PM

rockaroni 14-03-2008 05:42 PM

I'd love a hedgehog... but obviously wouldn't keep one as such. I "adopted" one when I was little when it wandered into my garden, and it died the next day. Oh I remember crying for hours...

craola 14-03-2008 06:12 PM

Im with Danz and Adam here.
I don't agree with wild animals being kept as pets.
I don't think they should even be 'adopted' from shelters, the only people who should look after wild animals who have been injured are specialists who have the right facilities. After Harry Potter came out loads of people got owls :/
Clothes on animals is awful though, especially pugs >.<

Popple 14-03-2008 06:24 PM

I agree that wild animals shouldn't be kept as pets
I had a hedgehog for a little while only because a family of a mother and lots of children died on our street and this baby was left but it had broken leg to we took it to this woman near me who looks after sick orphan hedgehogs and she treated it and let me look after it till it was old enough to be released and it still comes into my backgarden when I leave food out =]

but they are wild animals and they should stay that way where possible

much love

BlindSpot. 14-03-2008 07:58 PM

I agree with Danz.

I like them though, there used to be a family of them living behind our shed, the little ones were cute.

Todd the Guy? I might have lifted it from him - I don't really remember. I did that a long time ago. I just wanted to see if anyone recognised it and hardly anybody does lol.

LOL

That reminds me of the time my mother's old cat was playing with a small hedgehog, would tap it and then run off. And repeated ths process for ages. The hedgehog just stayed in curled up in a ball. Cats are stupid (can't help but laugh)!! We then put it at the bottom of a hedge to safety (it was in the middle of the road all the way through this) :P LOL

EDIT
p.s This was supposed to be under buttons (haha, spelt it right this time); but katy beat me to that spot *growls* :P LOL

Take it you've given up on homework n all ;] LOL

I am so jealous.
Whats the rest of the game like?

And mac this isn't an argument, believe me, this is nothing even like an argument.

Harley's Dad 15-03-2008 09:29 PM

If this thread is still about hedgehogs (old English, hedgepigs) you may like to know that a few years ago some brainless idiots let some loose in South Uist in the Western Isles of Scotland.

They multiplied and spread north throughout Benbecula and North Uist. But there are no trees in the Uists and consequently all the birds are ground nesting - and hedgehogs eat birds eggs.

The damage being done to the local bird population was such that some conservation authority decided that the hedgehogs should be trapped and released on the mainland. Some hope in miles and miles of hill and heather but, if ever I catch one on our island, I'll happily post it to whoever would like it as a pet - provided I can work out how to stick the stamps on ...

Tony.

Caru y Nos 15-03-2008 09:35 PM

I saw a documentary on that ages ago. It was amazing :P

Basically hedgehogs (hegdepigs sounds cooler though and thats what i'll call them from now on :D) But they were worse than the problem with grey squirrel invasion. If i remember correctly, at one point they almost wiped out that species of bird (on that island at least)!!!

Caru y Nos 15-03-2008 09:36 PM

p.s. i'm laying claim to the hedgepig :D I've got some ideas where you can stick the stamps :P LOL

craola 15-03-2008 09:40 PM

Grey squirrels are eviiiiil although May and her bow (the couple in our garden) are a pair of old romantics.

I want to meet Squirrel Nutkin but I've never even met a red squirrel.

Caru y Nos 15-03-2008 10:13 PM

One thing i've always wanted to do is take a picture of a red squirrel. It'd probably mean a trip to an island where grey squirrels can't travel. And it'd have to wait until i was older :P

back to topic. So, hedgepigs....

craola 15-03-2008 10:34 PM

Mrs Tiggywinkle was delightful doing everyones ironing.

JumpinJackFlash 16-03-2008 06:01 AM

The giant conversation is hard for me to follow.

Snow White. 16-03-2008 07:57 AM

Me too Mac. I'm now just playing supermario in my head.
But couldn't help but notice your thread just couldn't go along smoothly; you do have a special gift!

Haha oh it is so much fun..and addicting. I got it Sunday and my friend came over like every other day and we would play for hours on end.
And its so pretty, that sounds so silly but its true, the graphics are great.
There is so many ways you can play it too, as far as controllers go.
