Is anybody here a vegetarian?
Hey ya!
Perhaps the question has been asked loads of times before, but just wondering how many of us were vegetarian? If you are, have you struggled with it or was it an easy thing to convert to? Was the temptation to eat meat too great that you've succumbed to going back to being a meat eater? Take Care. |
I'm vegetarian. Have been for... just over four years now? Maybe more, I can't remember. For me it was the easiest thing in the world to do because I never liked eating meat, ever since I could remember. For the last four-five years I wasn't a vegetarian, the only meat I ate was chicken (turkey on Thanksgiving and Christmas) but it was so rare that I knew I could live without it.
In the first couple of months I kept having dreams about eating hotdogs and burgers (which is weird because I never really liked either) and I would realize halfway through eating it that I was vegetarian! Haha, crazy dreams. Unfortunately I have had a few mishaps with eating things that secretly had meat in them. I'm normally insanely careful when I eat something at a restaurant. I learned that sometimes baked potatoes will come with bacon bits (even if they're fake) baked right into them, lol. But yeah. I've also tried on many occasions to convert to veganism, but it never lasted more than a month, lol. [= |
I am - Have been since I was 8, so for 9 years now.
I grew up on a beef farm and saw exactly what went on in the meat industry - I didn't want anything to do with that!! |
I tried to be for quite a while, I love animals and wish it could be a different way but I lacked the will power to walk past Chinese restaurants and know that someone somewhere was eating sweet and sour chicken... someone who wasn't me
|
I am too =)
It was really easy, but I've found you have to be very careful with eating sweets, because most of them have gelatine in <_< |
I'm a vegetarian! I found not eating meat reletivly esay but tha's probably because I didn't really like meat much to begin with =]
|
im not but i dont eat meat that much, hardly really.
maybe i will cut it all out. |
I'm a veggie too! I have been for about six months or so. I started to not like meat anymore, so I just thought, maybe I should just give it up. I don't agree with the way that the animals are treated but I will drink milk and eat eggs too. Can't live without my milk.
|
Katy was vegitarian for a while, then vegan but when she went into the unit they banned her from it and when she tasted chicken she remembered how much she loved it =]
never went back xx |
I've been a veggie/vegan at different times throughout my life. I will never eat meat.
|
I'm a veggie. Have been for coming up seven years now. I've never really found it hard as I've never really liked meat, the only one I actually liked was chicken but that wasn't enough to stop me. I've never once missed eating meat and don't (seriously) plan on me going back to eating meat.
|
i was but now am not
i was until about a month back when i decided my heath had to come first. i jst wasnt getting all the right goodness and stuff.
Went back to eattin meat and my god i feel so much healthier, i have more energy, a better appertite and iv not been ill half as much and i get ill alot. i can see now that meat is an important part of ones diet and although i still strongly disagree with the way the animals are treated before they make it to our plates i can find reasurance in knowing that animal died to help me to live because i was slowly killing myself with the little amount of veggie food i actualy ate. |
veggie, nearly 6 years now.
i have only found it hard when my family run out of things to make fun of me for lol, and they take the micky out of that. but yes, there are lambs in the feild behind me. and it was kinda simpsons moment for (when lisa starts thinkign the baby lamb is tlaking to her) |
I am, have been since I was about 9, so for nearly 12 years now.
I don't get the temptation to eat meat at all, I don't like the thought of eating muscle etc. Although apparently I have eaten meat once or twice when I've been very very drunk, though I don't remember, lol! |
I've been vegan since I was 9 and vegetarian since I was 6. I've never had the temptation to eat meat or dairy, I'd rather lick the tires of a tractor.
|
im vegetarian. have been for about a year. i had a friend help me convert.
|
I've been one for the past 4 years. I've not wanted to eat meat at all since being a vegetarian. I'd rather top myself than eat an animal.
I can't see any good from eating something that used to live. It's just plain cruel. And to see the amount of things that are tested on animals sickens me. It's disgusting. Although I have these views, I would never ever try and force someone to stop eating meat. It's their decision, just like it's mine to not eat meat. |

Yum. |
I've been a vegetarian for almost nine years. I didn't find it very hard, and after the first few months, the thought of ever eating meat again was unthinkable, and as time went on I just became even more repulsed by it. Unfortunately, going vegan hasn't been as easy, I've been working on it for nearly two years, lol
|
Wow what feedback ! I am absolutely thrilled to bits :) I've changed to a vegetarian for nearly two years now and I'm happy with it :)
I can't live without cheese though, I LOVE CHEESE !!!! :D |
im a veggie. i have been my whole life so giving up meat wasnt hard as i have never eaten it. when i was little i used to eat things with gelitine in but then my sister told me what it was and i stopped straight away.
i dont think i could ever eat meat. |
me be veggie!
Because I don't like much [I'm reallly fussy] and I saw a icky telly thingy called kill it cook it eat it.. It was evil. Mother got annoyed at first due to my insane fussyness anyway.. but discovered that I <3 tofu and other thingys.. so yeh.. |
I've been vegetarian a few years now.
Unfortunately I ate meat until I was about 14 due to my mother not allowing me to make any of my own decisions & me having to do everything she said. I'm almost 17 now & I haven't ate meat since I was 14. I've never missed it & the thought of eating it makes me feel sick. |
me. but for health reasons my doctor suggested a start eating meat. so i eat chicken and cod now, rarely though, becase my mum forces me too.
it's difficult, i have to be super vigilant. like sweets ahve geletine in. and loads of chinese takeaway use pork fat and stuff. places like subway put me off a bit. becuase i went in once, and i know you can ask for a change and stuff, but a piece of meat fell onto the cheese and the guy just picked it up and threw the meat back, and didn't remove the peice of cheese :O! religiously i can't eat pork and shizzle anyway. little story heh. but yeah, im a bad vege *shakesfist*. |
I have always been vegetarian. My whole existence. I find it really easy.
Someone at school said to be today 'It must be good being vegetariab, you don't have to worry about being obese' Riiiiiiiiight |
I'm kinda, semi-veggie.
I mean, I'm only veggie sometimes because of my anxiety [worry of meat not being cooked properly, etc]. But with the programmes on recently about how they're killed, etc, I've been pushed a bit more towards the idea. I just know that I wouldn't really be able to do it because I'd have a load of cravings occassionally. & I'd not eat the right supplements, etc. So yeahhh. |
i was a vegetarian for 5 years, and then a random craving for a hot sausage roll ended it all lol. but before that i didnt find it hard at all xx
|
I think I might convert back.
|
go maja!
i have been a vegetarian for like 17 years now not struggle at all no temptations at all i just knew i never wanted to eat meat again ever |
i am
i haven't eaten meat in more than twelve years now |
I was vegan until about 3 months ago when my doctor ordered me to eat something propper, so now i'm just vegetarian. it's never been hard though.
x |
I'm a vegetarian sort of, but I still eat fish and sea food (I find it hard to feel bad for a fish), although I'm thinking about giving that up too... I've never found it hard at all, cause it really wasn't so much a moral decision as just that I find the thought of eating part of an animal disgusting, so I really don't want to eat meat anyway.
|
I've been a vegetarian for about 8 years now. At first, my father tried to force me to eat meat, but about a year into it he just quit. Once I got used to accomadating my consumption to be animal free, it was simple. I can't even imagine eating meat anymore, its become second nature to just adjust, and I feel so much healthier not eating meat. I love my veggies :)
|
Imma a Vegitarian as well =] I find it hard someties cuz I'm anemic... but I get by =]
|
I am it was really easy though i never liked chicken, steak is too hard for me to chew well (i'm lazy like that) and I'm just really picky. So i just thought I'd be a vegetarian but i do drink dairy like milk i love chocolate milk. I never said i was vegan :)

being vegetarian sounds interesting. however, i could never live without my meat.
|
I am ^_^
Have been my whoooooole life (all 18 years of it) but I'm anaemic... heh. I could sort it if I took iron, or just generally ate better. But I'm too lazy. |
My parents force me to eat meat, but I don't like the taste of it. I don't really mind if other people eat it, but I just don't like the taste...I don't know.
I manage to get by for long periods of time without my parents noticing I haven't eaten meat. As soon as I go off to college I'll be full-fledged vegetarian. |
I was a vegetarian for a year up until a few months ago when my mum said i wasn't allowed anymore, but now i'm vegetarian again after much persuasion :)
The first few months were hard, but it's easy now. xx |
I was
Well, I am. But I had meat yesterday, for the first time in ten years. Sausage sandwich. I haven't had meat in so long, and decided to 'give it a go'. It's not going to be a regular occurance. |

For instance my old friend was vegetarian, she went to the doctors, she was anemic. He told her this was because she was vegetarian, and told her to eat meat. The reason she was anemic wasn't because she didn't eat meat, it was because she didn't eat ANYTHING except for chips, crisps, chocolate and pizza. I'm not even exagerating...:eyeroll: Anyway, I've been vegetarian for 5 years, and have recently become a vegan. |
Indeed I am!
My grandmother isn't too happy. She's still trying to convince me that chicken is veggie.. |
I've never eaten meat. My mum brought me up veggie but said i had the choice to eat meat if i wanted. She brought me up this way for ethical reasons. Because i've never had i obviously don't crave it but to be honest the thought of eating an animal makes me want to vomit anyway. What right do we as the 'superior race' to kill other species for food, I and hundreds of thousands of others are living proof that we don't need meat to live. With regard to having difficulty giving stuff up, i don't really experience this. For example, as soon as i discover that some product or other is tested on animals, regardless of how much i like it or how regularly i use it i just give it up, full stop and never really think of it again.
