Boots Scar Reduction Pads

about A6 size sylicone pads, that are supposed to reduce scarring in 90 days. They're actually really good, ive been using mine for just 6 days now on scars from about 7 months ago, and they've already faded quite a bit. Ive tried bio-oil and coco butter before but they never worked so this has been really worth the money.

I thought it would be impossible for the pads to work as my scars were quite thick, raised red lines but now theyve faded loads! which is great, so thought id pass the mesage on.

The pads cost £20 for two but if you ask me its worth it.

Keep smiling everyone XxX

I have read that they are very good for flattening scars, I have never had the money to buy them but I have heard mixed views.

They are quite expensive, but definitely worth it. id read a few reviews that said they were quite good, but didnt believe them... till now. they've faded so much! If you can save up enough to get them, i definitely recomend them

How long are you ment to keep them on for?

Hopeless_little_one 07-06-2007 05:11 PM

It says each pad lasts for up to 60 days or something and to keep them on for about 12 hours a day. Ive had mine on for 6 days now and theyve already faded! which is cool, so i guess you just keep them on untill they've completely faded to white lines

Wow, I'm going to try those out. Thank you so much. I have tried everything and if this doesn't work, I'll cry. LoL*

Hopeless_little_one 07-06-2007 05:23 PM

Aww hun, dont cry! lol. Ive tried loads of things too but non of them worked. You might want to get old of a bangade or something to help keep it on. ive been using a wrist support bandage thingy lol. The gel pads are sticky, but they can come off quite easily so u really need something to keep them on.

Let me know how it goes, i hope they work! dont give up after 5 days if they dont tho, it might take different lenghts of time for different skin, i dont know.

l've looked into these scar reduction things, but l dont know if l want rid of mine completely. I hate them, and l find them comforting

Hopeless_little_one 07-06-2007 08:09 PM

I feel that way, as i quote "our scars remind us that the past is real"
In a way i dont want to get rid of my scars, but then i want to go into clinical psychology which is a type pf nursing so i cant go around with thick scars on my arms.

Yeah, dont get me wrong, l dont have an issue at all with your reasoning, l was just stating my thoughts.

I dont think l would be bothered if a psych had scars, l guess it would just come under 'experience'

Hopeless_little_one 07-06-2007 08:19 PM

i kno, sorry i wasnt trying to argue or anything. just talking (",)
unfortunately thats not how the NHS see it :(

paper dreams; You get two pads in Boot's version, which are about A6 size.

Nici; Those are made by Elastoplast, theyre the same but lots of small ones where as Boots are two large pads which you can cut to size.

I had trouble finding them in my local Boots store and the staff were really un-helpful :crying: but they should be in the Pharmacy area, not in the skin care of plaster section like i thought...

i bought something similiar a year or so ago.
but in the ones i got, you got loads & they were called "scar reduction plasters." you kept each one on for 24 hours. & i think there was enough for six weeks.
they were okay. too expensive though. &tbh, i stopped using them a couple of weeks because it was too tedious. they're not any good for getting rid of white scars, but for red ones [turning them white/skin colour], or for raised ones, i'd say they were alright.
i still have like, half my packet stashed away somewhere. heh.

Hopeless_little_one 09-06-2007 07:46 PM

lol, i see your point, it does sound tedious! i guess these ones are kinda the smae that way but then the've worked really quickly on my scars. nothing can get rid of white scars i dont think but im ok with them, i wouldnt want to get rid of them completely.

I used those scar reduction patches from Boots, they do work but you have to patient because they take AGES and it makes your skin itch.

Worth it though, the scars on my forearms are practically invisible thank god.

Hopeless_little_one 09-06-2007 08:28 PM

Thats true, they do itch! especially when you take them off :crying: *scratch scratch* lol

don't take this as an insult or anything, but clinical psychology is not nursing, its a type of psychology and you need a psychology degree to get into it, not a nursing one.
just thought I'd point that out:)

Hopeless_little_one 09-06-2007 08:58 PM

I know, im registered with the GBR and Studying Psychology and then getting sponsored by the NHS to do a further training course in Clinical Psychology.

I meant it as a way of explaining what it is if some ppl didnt know, not a litteral comment. Hi btw :eyeroll:
