Chat. A small update
 

Here, for your reference, my darling ones, is the information I have so far gathered from other threads regarding chat.
Rest assured, chat is being worked on, and will be up as soon as possible.

James "There is actually no specific time scheduled for this - Harley said he would try to get things working for tomorrow, but we are waiting on the chat hosting company to get their act together."

Harley "I must apologise - I thought we could get it working so it would be usable, but the login part of the actual chat won't listen to the working RYL login - so chat isn't usable.

if the chat people manage to do what we need tonight, chat will be up very soon indeed :)"


Thank you for your patience, and I hope this has given those that are worrying some peace of mind.

I just tried to use v2 chat. Give me an unknown error on general and on support application isn't found.

Truly? It was working for me. How lame.
Is it doing that for anyone else? I'm terribly sorry if I have misinformed people

The v2 chat doesn't work anymore Matt. I posted about it last night and Harley said it's not going to work but hopefully all going well the chat people should have done something last night meaning that it should be up soon.

Still waiting on the chat company guys - will update you as soon as I know anything

What do people do to fill time when they're not in chat?
I'm at a loss. Seriously considering starting a neopet account again.

lol. I dont know if its right of me to find it funny but I do anyway. Umm, watch television, talk to people on msn, read, play games (I used to play a lot of bf2, dont so much anymore but then thats because I have other things to do), go out, go to the pub, draw, er that's about it.

There is so much to do without chat, and when chat is there it takes up so much time that you forget there is other stuff, lots of other stuff thats more interesting, that you can do. Well I say more interesting, but watching trash tv isnt too interesting :P

I have a neopet account but its not much going on there either they doing the site out...

I chat to people on MSN or i go onto my penguin club account!

Okay so I am getting really annoyed and very impatient. I thought chat was suppose to be up like a week ago. I am beginning to really think that chat will never be up and working. If that is the case..can you please let us know and take down the chat link. Otherwise can you stop telling us that chat will be up tomorrow..and just give us the actually date it will be up. Thanks Mek

Hi Melissa,

Chat will be up again at some point next week. It most certainly *will* return to RYL - that I can assure you of. The delay has been caused by the chat hosting company (out in China) failing to get their act together - that and the fact that both Harley and myself have had a great deal to sort re. RYL v3 and therefore little time left over to chase the company concerned.

We will *always* provide you with a straight answer, there is no conspiracy here to abolish chat on RYL. Please be patient and chat will return just as soon as we can manage it.

Well You say that you will always provide a straight answer, but even now you fail to do so. You said " Chat will be up again at some point next week". Thats not really a straight answer, it just basically means anytime next week. i was hoping for a solid answer. Perhaps a date?

With the greatest respect, I am giving you the best information we have available at this time.

Since we are dependant on the chat hosting company, and since I do not run their systems, I do not have direct control over when they decide to resolve the chat issue for us (RYL is just one of many of their customers).

I will not give a date since I have no means of ensuring the company concerned will meet that date. I think therefore I have actually been very honest with you about the situation.

All the frustration in the world isn't going to get chat here any quicker and we can do little more about the situation than you at this point in time.

If I might say, a little gratitude towards the people who are actually making this happen for you would go a very long way.

Mek, while we understand your concerns - and a lot of people share them, an awful lot of people are missing chat - it is rather impossible to give a due finish date when Harley and James themselves are unaware of it. If it's an outside party, H&J are as much in the dark as we are. I highly doubt that H&J are in some conspiracy to wipe out chat, rather they're probably doing all that they can, given the current circumstances to bring chat back to us.

Just hang fire, be patient - it will come.

I understand your frustration Mek, since I'm myself getting rather irritated at clicking and seeing it's not there but Harley and James would never dare get rid of chat.... they'd have to face Teh Wrath

As I mentioned on another thread, it is now the weekend and the chat company has not yet updated out chat with the new details, though I hear they have now done some of the work.

Their sales team tell me it is 'next in line' so as soon as they are back working we should be able to get it up and running

I will send an email to everyone the moment it is alive :)
