After almost 8 years as a member of RYL I feel the time is right to leave.

This gives anyone who wants to stay in touch with me the chance to read this thread and PM me and I will give them my contact details.

It is with great sadness and regret that I have decided to leave.

Stay true to yourselves people because you are all special in your own way.

Hi I want to wish you well and I hope you don't mind me saying here that I am leaving too, after 11 years, I won't go into why as it's your thread.

I think though that things happen for a reason, and even if they're not things we're exactly happy about right now, it will actually work out for the best. We're both here a long time, maybe it's just time for us to move on. I feel sad about it but hope it's for the best.

I'm sorry. It's hard to lose what has been my safe place for so long but I Don't feel safe here anymore so I have to go.

You'll be ok, I'm sure. I still keep checking back, I hope one day I'll forget or something and I don't mean that in a bad way, just that I'll have moved on. I hope. I hope you will too.

I hate these types of threads, there isn't a need for them because nobody cares. Those that do, will presumably still keep in touch with you so.

I disagree Poppy.
I've seen many of these threads and although people aren't really close enough to want to keep in contact outside of RYL, people do still worry if they suddenly go offline and not come back.
I still wonder about people from years ago!

I just find it quite amusing that the people who post threads about leaving hardly ever actually leave. When people do leave, they tend to just gradually drift away from RYL.

That is pretty true.
I was going to add, it is annoying when people post that they are leaving, come back a few days later and then make another thread saying that they are leaving and so on....
But there's no need to assume that's what happens every time.

I also don't want to start a debate so I will shut up now :tongue2:

I made a leaving thread once. I did leave for a few weeks, but I got lonely :P

I think I made a 'taking a break' one once. But I feel I genuinely have to let people know because of stuff!
And I have no social life so RYL is usually my only form of contact with the outside world :P

Haha, yeah, I seem to have developed a social life but for some reason I am still here :P

Once you join, you can never leave...muahahaha!!

Good luck with life. I kind of hope you don't read this though. I don't really know you but if you're the sensitive type then some of the comments on this thread might bother you.

I came to check to see if I had any more replies and found your comments poppy quite bitchy. But there you go.

Maybe I won't be able to stay away but I don't really think thats the point at the moment.

After reading Harley's kind and meaningful words in my christmas card it reminded me of why I joined in the first place and now I am torn. And yes I've had recent issues with people but it's whats in the past that kinda overrides that...

Personally I take the view that yes RYL changes, people come and go but it's still a fab community and like any part of life will have it's ups and downs but is ultimately worthwhile...just my tuppence worth :) There's a slightly uncouth expression someone in one of my support groups uses that is 'if you have one foot in the past and one in the future you **** all over today-live in the moment' which I thing is very apt in all aspects of life, be it a website or a dramatic life event.

I think it boils down to whether RYL still serves a purpose for you or not. No forum is perfect, you need to weigh up the positives and negatives of RYL and decide which one is higher for you. No point in staying somewhere if it's going to make you upset or annoyed. RYLs main purpose is to help and let people know they're not alone in what they're going through.

Why were the OPs reasons for leaving removed? Im not a fan of censorship.
