Do you carry blades with you?
I was just wondering if anyone else takes their blades (tools) with them when they go out.
If you do, have youever been caught with them? |
I have, but only a couple of times. Didn't get caught. I find doing it anywhere other than in my room doesn't feel right.
Also, Luke, you may wanna edit that and take out where it can be put. Tip sharing and all y'know. |
I do. I also carry a strip of bandage and some anti septic cream.
I've worryed about being caught with them but the only time I've ever come close was on a Law trip when our bags were searched. The teacher warned us about ten minutes before we went into court and I managed to bin it all. |
I was just trying to help. It doesn't bother me.
|
I don't carry any tools with me as I'm trying very hard to get back into recovery, and want to avoid cutting as much as possible.
I used to carry tools with me, and never got caught. I never drew attention to it, so no one ever suspected or checked. |
this is serious tipsharing tbh.

I used to carry a blade with me, wrapped in a Kleenex... I threw one out once when we went to a concert (Iron Maiden^.^) and they were using those hand held metal detectors. Luckily, I was able to get it out and throw it into the trash can. I don't carry any on me anymore, cuz you can never tell where people will poke their noses in to...
|
used to when i felt i was going through a hard time but to me that leads to more temptation.to go straight to the blade when something goes wrong when you are not at home.you dont learn to deal with the siuation rationally without hurting yourself.
also you need to be careful with having blades on you because if you get caught by the police you may get in a lot of trouble |

*far too pissed to care now* |
Really good vibe we've got on this thread right now.
I used to carry tools with me everywhere; didn't feel right not having them with me, though I only used whatever I had with me at the time twice in the past six months. |
There seems to me some tention going on arround here doesn't there....
Anyway, this thread wasn't meant for tip sharing.. I was asking "IF" people carried blades .. not "HOW" soo, no more saying how please! |
I have snuggled a scissors in work to the toliets. Think people saw but never said.
I have had odd items that I keep with me but nothing obvious. I have a routine so never like to do it away from my comfort zone unless needed. Bit dangerous to carry blades with you, especially if you get caught. Not going to talk more due to the fear of tipsharing. |
took them to high school for a week once and got caught - almost got expelled.
|
I always have something with me. But I never do it unless I have bandaging with me as well.
|
I carried a blade with me to work for a while a little over a year ago. And used it several times. I don't think that job was very good for me... But normally I don't carry a blade except if I'm going somewhere for a few days or longer. And when I do have a blade with me, I also always have a few band-aids and some neosporin, even though I rarely even use band-aids anymore since there's usually too many cuts nearby for it to fit, and I end up using gauze instead, but for some reason it's still always band-aids in my travel kit (which used to be where I kept my blades not for travel as well, but they've recently migrated to my desk drawer for some reason).
It's not illegal to carry a blade here. At least not the kind I use. Heck, it's not even illegal to carry a gun if you have a license. So I don't have to worry about getting caught if I just have a blade in my bag when I'm walking around on the street or at work or whatever. The only time that I've carried blades that I might have been 'caught' is that I've carried blades through airport security several times when I either didn't have any checked bags, or couldn't deal with having them out of my possesion for that long (my mom alway tells me to put a change of clothes in my carry on in case the airline loses my bags - same idea). I've actually done that a fair amount, and I've never been caught. The closest I came was once they actually hand searched my bag after they x-rayed it, and the opened the front pocket that had the pouch with my blades in it, but it turned out that they were actually looking for my calculator, and missed the blades entirely. It does make me wonder about airport security that they diligently confiscate water bottles and check graphing calculators, but yet routinely fail to notice actual weapons... |
I left my blades at home when I had to take an airplane because I was afraid of security finding it in front of my whole youth group. That would not have been fun. So I think I just clipped a safety pin somewhere.
And that is quite disturbing that they didn't see your blades.:/ And your JubJub looks so sad! I want to cuddle it!^.^ |
It is disturbing that they haven't seen my blades, especially since it wasn't even just a one time thing - I've done it probably at least a dozen times. On the other hand, considering that I can barely draw blood with them when I'm trying to, and my other arm is cooperating, I don't think I could really use them as a weapon against someone else who might actually be fighting back, and I'm pretty sure they'd be no match for the cockpit doors, which I've heard are supposed to be bullet-proof, so it probably doesn't much matter. But I never carry blades through if I'm with my parents (or anyone else, for that matter), because then if security did find them, I'd have to explain it to them, and not just the random TSA people (and probably a cop or two) that I'm never going to see again anyway.
And yeah, my JubJub is sad :( |
i used to keep one in my backpack when i went to school like 9th and 10th grade, but not anymore. and i never got caught with them
|
I used to carry a blade with me when I was in school. I don't anymore, not unless I know I'm going to have a tough day and need it with me as a sort of comfort blanket.
I once took a blade with me when I was going to Switzerland. After we had got off the ferry to france, customs got on the coach to have a quick check. I was so scared! |

I almost always have a little pocket multi-tool with me, and I have carried something like that with me since I was really little, way before I started hurting myself. It's not good because I could use it to hurt myself, although I've told myself 'this tool is not to be used for that.' I have even gotten rid of the tool a couple of times. But it makes me feel safe/prepared to have it with me--not like I am prepared to hurt myself, but prepared in case I need to use the tool to do something. I always wanted to feel like I could run away if I needed to. And be ready for all those rampant screwdriver emergencies, you know? But it's kind of a security thing... I feel ok if I have my chapstick and my pocket tool and a hair elastic.
|
yes i do carry them with me all the time i like the idea that i have it all the time with me...
i had to throw it away once so the soldier won't arrest me LOL it's an occupied area here.. |
I do. Even though I shouldn't.
Though, my boyfriend went through my blazer cuz I asked him to get something for me, and found them, so he snapped them and threw them away for me. |
i use to carry blades with me always but then once i ended up dropping in and my blade landed in the family room under a chair so i stopped carrying it in case i got caught!
|
From the time i started up until a year/2years ago. I would always carry around a blade with me. It would always be in my bag and i never got caught with it. I haven't bothered to for like the last 2years though, i think it actually makes things worse having the blade there.
|
i have in the past and i still do sometimes but not often. actually its getting less.
|
i used to. always had gauze and bandages and stuff too, just in case.
i stopped carrying stuff around when they found cutting paraphernalia (sp?) when i was hospitalized. but i dont cut anymore so yeah. |
I used too, but my boyf found them in my bag when (he has a habit of looking through my things><) Although I'm quite glad that he did cause I'd been through a crap time. I don't carry them anymore though.
|
I carried a lgihter with me, then one day someone was looking for a lgihter and I let them use mine for some reason. And then they kept it. I don't smoke, so no one understood why I had a lighter. i just shrugged.
|
Yeah, I have one with me all the time. I've never ever used it though. And I've never been caught with it.
|
I never have done because i need to know the blades are clean. I'm a little obsessive over it actually.
xxx |
Yeah, i have one with me at all times...no i've never got caught!
|
Absolutely. I always carry some kind of blade with me. Ive had a couple tricks up my sleeves for a few years now. I dont condone it at all, but Im always prepared for something that could happen where I would need that instant calm. I can go for months without needing it, but it's comforting knowing it's there.
|
yea I do carry a blade with me.
I shouldnt really but i do and its nice to know its there if i need it. oh and yes i have got caught with it once, but it was at a respite house so thats not really counted |
I have done in the past.
I've never got caught though, which is a bit worrying seeing as i was admitted as an IP for an ED at the time when i carried them with me and they checked all my bags when i was admitted but didn't find them :S |

Yeah, I have one with me pretty much wherever I go. My boyfriend caught me a few times, but that just means I have to get more crafty at hiding them.
|
I carry a blade with me at all times and I dropped it a few times and then had to like pretend I needed tie my shoelaces (sp?) to pick it up...
|
I always have a blade with me. Especially in school,my boyfriend and my friend usually check my blazer, and the police have a right to check me from now on at my school.
I've only used it a few times, but i just feel safer if i know i have it if need be. |
I always have 2 blades right next to my skin, then another 1 with me in a pocket, plus another 3 in my bag, so that means I have 6 with me nearly all the time, and I always have the first 2 I mentioned with me.
Kind of worrying when I look at the numbers...when my parents first found out about my SI, they took everything away from me, so I'm too scared not to have them with me now, I'm a little over-protective of them really. I'm planning to wean myself off carrying them somehow though as I'm stopping SI. I've never exactly been caught by anyone, but sometimes I've dropped them, accdiently got them out my pocket when getting keys or something and had to just try and get it away asap. People someitmes notice the edge of one or something like that though, and I'm not sure whether they realise what it was or not. Sometimes I like having them with me because I get one out and just play with it (I hold it and passs it from hadn to hand kind of tihng) as it makes me feel better and it normally means I don't SI afterwards, whereas I used to wait until I got home to my supply and SI. |
Never.
|
I used to but I haven't for awhile.
|
I always have blades with me and other sharp stuff been caught a couple of times by a teacher just got told to hand everthing over she knew about my self harm before
|
I always have a blade with me. I need to have control over something, and since I can't control the people around me I feel safer if I've got a blade or a scalpal with me. It's more of a security blanket than anything I think, as I rarely cut outside my bedroom. It is just nice to know that it's right there if I need it.
<3 K. Though I did get in a hell of a lot of trouble the first time I was formed, I snuck some in when I was home for the weekend, though I had no intentions of using them and got caught. |
i always have a lighter on me coz i smoke but i havent burnt in iova a yaera n wen i diod it was a home neway at work i have a knife on me to cut packaging n that worries me but ive never used it as a tool
|
I carry my blades on me most of the time...
It's a safety thing for me - if I know I CAN SH if I need, then sometimes the knowing I can is enough to make me not need to in the same way. I also carry plasters and baby wipes... |
I carry my blade with me everywhere, i don't know if saying "my wallet" is tip sharing?
|
Yeah I always used to have one with me when I was at school. I told my counsellor though and she told the school. Then I got dragged into a meeting aobut it and they said that they weren't going to search me this time but they might carry out searches at any time cos they know i've carried weapons with me. So I had to get rid of it cos it could have got me into a lot of trouble. They never tried to search me though.
