Cacoethes 02-03-2013 11:27 PM

therapy.
probably DBT.

apparently you grow out of it eventually.

offlineforever 03-03-2013 12:36 AM

I'm slightly confused, I thought you had been diagniosed with this for a while? But you are talking about it like you have just been diagnosed.

Beckie is right, it is something that needs therapy to help more than meds.

Gem-Louise 03-03-2013 11:53 AM

no I was diagnosed with something else and been told I have this

offlineforever 03-03-2013 12:03 PM

So, why were you posting in the BPD thread if you didn't have it before you have been told you have it claiming that you have it?

Sorry if it seems like I am being a pain, just genuinley confused.

Gem-Louise 03-03-2013 01:01 PM

BPD and EUPD isn't the same is it ?

Cacoethes 03-03-2013 01:07 PM

it is the same. just different names for it.

who diagnosed you and what was your diagnosis before?
how old are you anyway, i'm sure i've asked before and you haven't answered.

findingmyself 04-03-2013 04:42 AM

yes borderline is the same thing as emotinaly unstable personality disorder. Its just the new name for it but has not changed to it officaly. Its mostly known as bordelrine personality disorder. Meds can help actualy Im suprised they said they wouldnt. Maybe geting a second opinion if you want meds. Im on a antipsychotic it helps with my moods Im not scizophenia or anything . Im on it for my moods maybe a antipsycotic can help you too. Ask a doctor get a second opinion. Good luck

youonlyliveonce 04-03-2013 10:50 AM

Meds won't help cure the actual illness but they might help with the urges n mood swings etc

BPD and EUPD are the same thing.

Have the doctors given you any support to help you with your PD?

Gem-Louise 04-03-2013 01:36 PM

I have been asked about psychology and I said yes but I haven't ears anything from my worker or anything about it since she asked

offlineforever 04-03-2013 02:29 PM

Chase it up?

You have to take a bit of responsibility. You can't go through life expecting things like this to be done for you. They may have forgotten, there are long waiting lists too, so like Katy said, chase it up!

It can take aaaages to be referred to a psychologist. I was referred in September/October and started seeing mine in February. There are often long waiting lists.

However, as others have said, you need to take responsibility for this and to chase it up with the workers since they'll be incredibly busy and might forget to tell you things. Ask them what's happening?

Gem-Louise 04-03-2013 06:30 PM

i do take responsiblity for things i dont let everyone do everything for me

offlineforever 04-03-2013 06:31 PM

So what do you want from this thread?

Gem-Louise 04-03-2013 10:21 PM

why does people always say things like that on my thread

offlineforever 04-03-2013 10:33 PM

Because it isn't actually clear what you want from it.

Or rather. It was clear and we have now answewred questions/explained things/asked questions and it seems to be going nowhere.

Gem-Louise 05-03-2013 04:10 AM

well im tired of things like that been said on my thread ....i write them for support and having people saying what do i want from them and all that is doing my heading because i dont go on to other peoples and say that so people need to stop doing it to mine ..its the forums obvious if i am posting its for support

talaiporia 05-03-2013 04:13 AM

I think perhaps the threads can seem quite circular sometimes, and it would be good to know what you needed or wanted from us. For example, do you find this thread helpful at the moment? Different people are looking for different things on RYL.

I'm glad to hear you are safe after the other day Gem.

offlineforever 05-03-2013 10:58 AM

What Soph said!

Gem-Louise 05-03-2013 04:22 PM

I will just stop writing on it

offlineforever 05-03-2013 04:43 PM

All we want to know is how we can now support you.

Gem-Louise 05-03-2013 07:28 PM

i dont no sorry.

PinQ 10-03-2013 12:52 AM

Sometimes its okay not to know what help you want just knowing that you need it can be enough. I've often asked for help and not known what help I want. I have BPD/EUPD and I actually find meds help a bit. I take antid's and antip's and find I stay slightly more level with them. Maybe you could ask more about the meds side of things. Although it tends to be trial and error you might find something that makes life a little bit easier. As far as waiting lists go - they are a pain and its awful that people struggling to cope have to add it to their list of worries. I'm sorry that not much can be done about it. Just stay persistent, keep nagging because sometimes they get so sick of you that they give you a bit of a boost ;) Hope that helps you some.

ferretmonster 10-03-2013 04:11 PM

I agree re meds, they always say eugh no meds won't help bpd but it can help with some of the depression or moods swings that come with it.

Dbt is usually the offered therapy for bpd.

Sadly yss there can b quite a wait, in the meantime, try to find things to keep you occupied in positive ways, make sure you still socialise with friends, do thing you enjoy. Get outdoors, all helps a little with mood

BPD is the DSM name for this personality disorder. However EUPD is the ICD10 name for this illness. They have slightly different criterias but pretty much the same.

Keep chasing up the referral to psychology. I was referred to DBT in August and even though im considered a *high risk* and priority and top of the list for DBT; im still waiting. So basically what im saying keep asking and finding out when your likely to start.

If meds help keep you on a even level then they may be worth a shot is well.

What do you want from this thread?
