What anime are you watching or just watched?

Surely I can't be the only anime lover here! I'm looking at you, *insert name of people with manga icons*.

I'm currently watching Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo.
Quite different from what I usually enjoy watching admittedly, as romances make me emotional. (I tend to stick to thrillers and mindless comedies!) This one however balances the love out with hilarity, so rather than ending up in a ball of woe I end up in a ball of squee :) It's adorable!

What are you watching?

Indigo. 12-01-2013 10:11 AM

Oh my! Hey there :) I remember knowing you also liked anime and stuff :D I think starting this thread is a great idea! *hugs*

Right now, I'm re-watching Gravitation. I remember I really liked it when I first saw it 6 years ago, but I was more like a kid back then so my perspective upon it might have changed.

I'm also thinking of watching No. 6 idk if you've heard of it. It seemed quite nice. Will check it out :)

Palladion 12-01-2013 01:15 PM

I'm a huge anime lover! I spend way to much time watching anime instead of doing my work :-p

I'm currently watching Durarara!! i'm at epsiode 17 and i'm loving it so far, it started of a bit slow but now I literally can't stop watching.

offlineforever 12-01-2013 02:21 PM

Recently I rewatched Romeo X Juliet and have been rewatching fruits basket. But tbh I am more of a manga girl at heart.

Oh my <3 I so loved Durarara! it's one of my favourite animes! I really want to read the light novel too :)

Palladion 12-01-2013 06:03 PM

It is really good, the only thing is whenever Shizuo speaks all I can hear is Kyon from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and Izaya is voiced by the same guy who did Koizumi xD and I find it hilarious as the characters are so different xD

Have you seen Baccano? I love that anime so much that's the whole reason i'm watching Durarara!!, they're made by the same studio and have the same author.

Indigo. 12-01-2013 11:51 PM

I didn't know about the voice actors! Though I have to admit Shizuo's voice seemed familiar from the start. I really love those two. :) My desktop background is a picture of chibi izaya with celty lol. :)) Oh and I just loved that part when Erika said there must be 'boy's love' between Izaya and Shizuo it was just hilarious =))
I;ve been meaning to watch it. I think baccano was someone;s password for the dollars site! :))

Palladion 13-01-2013 12:11 AM

I'll admit I did laugh at that part as well, Erika and Walker are too funny. I highly reccomend Baccano, it's a bit bloody but it is really good, it's about American gangs during prohibition era, but it has some supernatural twists, very similar to DRRR. There's loads of Baccano references in DRRR as well. Posters of characters, the password and in the part where the dollars first meet in Ikebukuro Isaac and Miria from Baccano show up! I had a small fan girl squeal at that part xD

Also does anyone use myanimelist? It's a site where you can keep track of every anime you are watching, completed or plan to watch and give it a score, I love reading through others people's lists and seeing what they enjoyed to figure out what i'm going to watch next xD Here's mine in case anyone is interested http://myanimelist.net/animelist/Palladion

Indigo. 13-01-2013 12:25 AM

Ooh I knew about the site but I didn't know you could keep track of animes like that(silly me!). Now I'll definitely make an account and I also can;t wait to watch Baccano:)
The way how they make references(sp?) of another series by the same author reminds me of CLAMP they do that quite often and also link their series. It's really interesting to watch/read them and spot characters you've seen in another series. :))
Also, Palladion if you want to watch Fruits Basket(yes, I stalked your 'plan to watch' anime list) , I highly recommend reading the manga because I found it fantastic and well it was way longer than the anime and yeah.

Palladion 13-01-2013 03:28 PM

I just finished DRRR, that ending. Oh my. Masaomi and Saki are quite possibly the cutest couple ever, and that smile between Anri and Mikado right at the end so sweet.

Now I just have to figure out what to watch next, there's too much to choose from!

GambitC13 13-01-2013 07:14 PM

Am watching Tokyo Mew Mew at the moment. ^_^

no_Brakes 14-01-2013 01:43 PM

Just finished watching K and Kobato. Both were quite good. I'm starting to have difficulties picking the next anime to watch since I've got so many listed, lol.

LemonTangWang 14-01-2013 05:13 PM

Cowboy bebop currently. I watched the new Evangelion movie (you can(not)redo) last night, now that was a mind ****.

Edit, I also started watching Mirai Nikki (future diary) a few days ago but I'm stuggling to find a decent stream for it.

Palladion 14-01-2013 05:24 PM

I've started watching Ouran High School Host Club, i'm a few episodes in and so far it's been okay. I'm not the biggest fan of pure romantic comedy anime, I prefer to watch something with a bit more action but it was recommended to me so I thought I would give it a shot.

I completely need to go and rewatch all of Fruits Basket soon. I've been meaning to for ages.

I haven't watched any anime for a while because of real life and other trivial things like that :wow: The last thing I watched was FMA: Brotherhood, which I had been meaning to watch for an eternity, (is it just me or do anime fans have the biggest and most ridiculous to-watch lists?). I started off disliking it thinking it could never replace my love of the original series....and then it completely did.

Tokyo Mew Mew was actually my first anime ever!
Back then I didn't have the intelligence to read the subs in my peripheral (sp?) vision though, so I only ever watched dubs. I learned soon enough!

GambitC13 15-01-2013 04:43 PM

I love Tokyo Mew Mew, It's like being pounded in the face with candyfloss!

Palladion 20-01-2013 01:59 AM

I finished Ouran High School Host Club, I actually ended up loving it! Never saw that coming, I honestly thought I would hate it haha

I just started Darker than Black, the first episode was really good.

SirEffinBarsteward 20-01-2013 04:53 PM

Rewatching Hellsing OAV <3

Asura 22-01-2013 02:10 PM

Oh shiit you just reminded me I need to go watch the 10th OVA. It's been two weeks since I DLed it and I keep forgetting about it.

LemonTangWang 23-01-2013 03:12 PM

I started watching the first version of Hellsing but couldn't really get in to it. How are the ova's so far, they stick to the mangas story right?
Watched the first Eden of the East movie last night and the series, I must say I've quite enjoyed it so far I just hope everything is tied up properly after I've watched the last film.

ElecTrickCity 05-02-2013 12:24 PM

I kinda hope I'm not randomly joining in but I read Deadman wonderland and I was really reluctant to start watching the anime in fear it ruined the manga for me but it has done it justice, if you don't mind a bit of horror and creepiness it's awesome!!

Palladion 05-02-2013 09:06 PM

^ I definitely don't mind a bit of horror and creepiness haha I might check it out.

I'm still watching Darker than Black. I also watched Spirited Away at the weekend, the first Studio Ghibli film I've seen and I loved it, now I just have to find the time to watch every other film they've made.

ElecTrickCity 06-02-2013 12:16 PM

^ Studio Ghibli films are amazing, I love my neighbour totoro or howls moving castle but it's hard to pick favourites!! Grave of the fireflies 0_0 amazing but a major tear jerker

Palladion 06-02-2013 08:08 PM

My best friend has seen My Neighbour Totoro so many times and assures me that I am going to love it to pieces.

Oh dear it's probably going to get me crying then if it's a tear jerker. I don't know what it is but normally I don't cry at films or TV or anything but as soon as I watch an emotional anime I turn into a crying mess. Clannad and Angel beats especially, I just couldn't stop the tears whilst I was watching those.

I love Baccano and Darker Than Black! At the moment, I'm watching Death Note. But my favourite has to be Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood.

FilipinoPanda 11-02-2013 04:25 PM

I finished watching Death Note and now I'm watching Clannad..

LemonTangWang 12-02-2013 04:07 AM

Clannad is great, after story more so, real tear jerker.

no_Brakes 12-02-2013 01:39 PM

Clannad and Angel Beats are two of the best animes ever. Tear jerkers, to say the least. Anyways, I'm watching Kotoura-san now. Seems pretty good so far. I hate having to wait a week between episodes though :(

I haven't seen death note yet, and as much as I intend to, I never really seem to get around to it. I also haven't ever sat down and watched fullmetal alchemist. At this point, there are just so many episodes out there...would be difficult to catch up. I'll have to save those for when I've got more free time.

But yeah, if anyone is looking for a decent anime to watch, Kotoura-san seems quite promising.

I never got around to watching the anime of Death Note. I heard the anime has a different ending from the manga. Is that right? Tbh I thought Death Note sucked after L died.

When you get to After Story, prepare to cry. I love Clannad to bits but I cried so much, my brother got a bit worried about me haha.

I just have the final episode of Darker than Black to watch, then I have to choose what to watch next. I always find it really hard to decide when there's so much I want to watch!

FilipinoPanda 12-02-2013 05:40 PM

OH death note did kind of suck after L died. T.T Near was cool and it had its ending but it just wasnt that great.. The live action is different somewhat from the anime and idk about the manga i never got around to reading it..

Clannad is so good! funny and a tear jerker..just started yesterday and almost finished! Can't wait for the after story!! :)

Palladion 12-02-2013 07:14 PM

I think I am genuinely one of the few people who actually still liked the Death Note anime after L died. I though Near was a bit annoying, but Mello was one of my favourite characters from the whole anime. And I quite enjoyed the whole Yotsuba group story arc.

Also I watched the live action films dubbed. It was hilariously bad.

FilipinoPanda 12-02-2013 08:31 PM

so after clannad im going to start immediately on the after story?
is that okay with the timeline?

Palladion 12-02-2013 09:34 PM

Yeah that's right, After Story takes place immediately after the first season :) There's 2 special episodes as well 'Another World: Kyou Chapter' and 'Another World: Tomoyo Chapter' that are pretty good.

FilipinoPanda 12-02-2013 09:56 PM

Alrighty! Thanks for that! I will make sure to check them out. :)

Like someone else said My neighbour Totoro is an obvious must see for the more cutesy Ghibli films (along with Ponyo in my opinion).

My personal favourite studio Ghibli films (I've seen all but four of them) are Princess Mononoke and Laputa: Castle in the sky. They are much more mature and plot driven than the likes of Totoro, but still have a fantasy element.

FilipinoPanda 13-02-2013 10:01 PM

Man, clannad is such a tearjerker! T.T WAAAAAAAAAH

Palladion 14-02-2013 12:07 AM

I warned you:-p Pretty much anything made by Key is bound to make you cry. I was a weeping mess by the time I got to the end of Angel Beats and I have yet to finish Kanon because It was getting so sad xD

FilipinoPanda 14-02-2013 03:34 AM

i love CLANNAD THOUGH.
Oh man, it was so sad but so worth it..such a good story even with the sadness...oh i just love the characters...i mean i loved death note but this tops it really. oh man..i havent gotten into anime in so long and this one was a great reason too!

LemonTangWang 14-02-2013 08:45 PM

Don't bother watching the film at all It's awful compared to the series (Clannad that is).

Most people tell me the manga ending to death note is better than the anime but I haven't read it. Personally I thought the anime was tied up nicely if somewhat predictably but I suppose that couldn't really be helped.

Edit: Filipino panda. If Clannad is making you sad now then I have to warn you after story is going to break your heart.

FilipinoPanda 14-02-2013 09:04 PM

I already finished the after story..
huhu yesterday so sad but so good!
i want another anime to watch

LemonTangWang 14-02-2013 09:56 PM

I still need to watch Kanon and Air. Might get onto those next.

FilipinoPanda 14-02-2013 10:13 PM

thats what im thinking of doing not sure

Palladion 15-02-2013 12:44 AM

I've watched about half of Kanon, what I saw was really good but it is super sad so I took a break and I still need to go back and finish it. Air is on my to watch list.

I watched the final episode of Darker than Black season 1 earlier. It was ... ok I was expecting it to be a bit of a more climatic ending. The series was good, but I think it could have been better I think i'll watch something else before I move on to season 2.

EDIT: Just watched My Neighbour Totoro. It was so adorable oh my god. I want a catbus to drive me everywhere!

FilipinoPanda 18-02-2013 04:01 PM

I LOVE TOTORO! :DDDDDD So cute! ^_^

Right now I think I'm going to start Fruits Basket.
Haven't seen it in a long time. :)

Palladion 19-02-2013 12:42 AM

So I decided to suck it up and finish watching Kanon. I forgot how hilarious it is, the writers have done an amazing job! Some parts are just as sad as I remember though, I just finished episode 14 and I shed a few tears.

I also have no idea what to watch after this, I learned that a lot of the anime on my to watch list hasn't actually been dubbed yet, and I know a lot of people much prefer subs but I just can't watch anything with subtitles. I think it's the movement on the screen while i'm reading, it gives me a bit of a headache and sometimes makes me feel a bit nauseous.

So if anyone can recommend me an anime to watch next i'm looking for something that has a bit of action and suspense, and a lot of anime i've really enjoyed has some sort of supernatural element to it, but I don't think that's completely necessary for me to enjoy it :P

Here's a list of everything i've seen that might help http://myanimelist.net/animelist/Palladion

Thanks in advance :D

no_Brakes 22-02-2013 07:50 AM

I didn't like subbed anime at first, but eventually I caved. Makes it much easier to find watchable anime. It's too bad it gives you a headache.

Anyways, I'd suggest to keep a lookout for whenever K (Project K / K anime / K ) gets dubbed. In the mean time, a couple that might be decent are Busou Renkin and Ikkitousen. At first glance, the dubs for Busou Renkin might be a bit bad, but it's worth a shot. The anime is pretty good. Ikkitousen has pretty good dubs, I think. Also, I saw Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagannon your list. I think that's a pretty decent anime. Don't know about the dubs, but I'm pretty sure they're out there.

In any case, I'm watching Death Note right now. It's quite good to say the least.

The Herbalist. 23-02-2013 12:33 AM

Started watching DBZ yesterday, something I haven't watched since high school!

Lately I have loved Azumanga Daiyoh (An anime about nothing that is quite silly.

LemonTangWang 23-02-2013 05:47 PM

I just started watching Shin Sekai Yori, I'm only a couple of episodes in but it seems alright so far, It's a sort of super natural mystery about a school where kids learn to control telekinesis. We'll have to see how it develops.

I also really need to get round to watching Gurren Laagen.
