It. Is. S O O O O O O. Hard to find a job in New York when youre 15. Im young, I would like to work, you think people would higher kids like me, we have energy, and motavation. Im so frustrated, like theres not even summer jobs.>_<

it might be hard because you're 15, 15 year olds and not allowed proper employment (sp).

Yeah I get it. Ive got papers from my school saying I can work a certain amount of hours while in school like during the year. When schools out i can work like 40 hours a week, and even if I dont, i really want a job.

Try doing some volunteering so youve got the experience?
But honestly, in a competitive market few people are gonna hire a 15 year old if there are lots of other people wanting the job? Plus, now isnt the best time, because its likely youll need to start spending more time on your work over the next few years, and it might not be reasonable any more

What have you done to get a job? A lot of the jobs that you will be hired for (cleaning, waitressing, cashiers, etc) won't be advertised. You'll need to put in the legwork and ask every manager if they are hiring and if you could leave your CV for their consideration.

But in all fairness you are 15 and probably have had no work experience before so that is why, and as said, you need to go round places and ask.

I appreciate it's an internet forum so you may not have been concentrating on spelling and grammar, but judging by this post, the spelling mistakes, missed apostrophes and so on, then I would not hire you. Get a good grounding in spelling, ask around places, and drop off a CV, get some work experience (voluntary if necessary) and then you stand a better chance of a job.

I don't know much about the US, but 40hrs a week for a kid wouldn't be legal here.
Finding jobs is hard for everyone; I'm 22, A-grade student, and have had proper jobs before and still can't find a summer job.

I second what everyone else has said; get some voluntary work under your belt in the meantime, and hopefully something will turn up.

I think that companies also want to hire older people as they have more experience and in most cases actually need money in order to feed their kids and keep a roof over their heads. Whereas teenagers just want some spending money and don't usually pay their parents for food or rent.

Its really not about spending money in all honesty. I would pay my parents rent. And I would help out. Thats mostly the reason I want a job, because WE need money. Not just myself. I could care less about spending money for myself.

I know how to spell. I wasnt paying attention to it seeing as I thought it unimportant to worry about on here. And Ive done voluntary work before. Im trying to get more expirence by finding atleast a summer job because my parents need the money and I want to help.

And no, I havent and wont be trying prostitution.

Just remember that it isn't your responsibility to pay your parents rent, and I can understand why you want to help out, but that's not your job!

But most companies have a policy that is hireing is 16+. Something about insurance.

You could try fast food, I've heard they're more willing to let 14/15 work.

Talporia: during the school year it is, absolutely. During the summer standards for hours become more lax. 40hr/wk is also a fulltime job here, I think in Europe it's less for that.

If there are no available options, then you can't get a job - simple as that.

babysitting? yard work? pet sitting? thats about all i can think of that wouldn't have the 16 plus age requirement on it

I would also suggest things such as dog walking or babysitting. If you start small, you may end big. Plus it would look good on your CV cause your using your intuitive.

when do you hit 16? more jobs are available for 16 +

It's really hard for anyone to find work at the moment.
I don't know if they have this where you are, but in my local supermarkets there are these noticeboards where people put up ads, you could put one up saying you're willing to babysit/walk dogs that kind of thing? Or if not You could make flyers and hand them out in your local area.

I turn 16 in January. And yeah I get everyones points. Im going to try a few different things.

Paper round? I hear that is a pretty good job to have as you get to lob papers at people's houses from a bike.

Im lookin ginto it. I heard somewhere you have to be 18 for the regular paper, but i would be able to do the penny savors on weekends.

No offense but have you actually went around your local town, walked in and asked? looking on the internet only goes so far you have to do the actual legwork and ask about, and keep doing it and keep giving out cv's.

I'm pretty sure that paper rounds are there because that is the only thing you don't have to be 18 for. Go into your local newsagent and ask, you are not going to be able to apply for a paper round on the internet... I was 12 when I had mine.

Depending on where you live... I found work young as a ranch hand (I grew up in a rural area). I'd do basic horse tending every morning (they taught me how) and offered me free lessons on the evenings I could stay and a few extra bucks.

What about putting up adverts for baby sitting?

Ask around, your parents work colleagues, friends etc.

Tried my hand at a few things over the years! eBay is good, sell the things you dont need then maybe try parents/neighbours/friends things but take a cut of the profit. You could also make things and sell them on eBay, I used to make jewellery, but if youre good at art you could do that? You could maybe try cleaning windows or cars. My boyfriend is good with computers, he taught himself to build websites (there are some really good YouTube tutorials) and has done website design for small companies since he was 14.

Find something you enjoy and make it a small business. It will look great on your CV and you'll learn things that will be valuable for life! It might even turn into something big :)

Not certified for what? You don't need to be certified to babysit.

Too young to use ebay at 15, and to get a paypal account.

The way I see this going now is we all suggest jobs to do, you decide you don't want to do them so make up some excuse when the real reason is that your lazy and just want to moan about it and feel all 'Woe is me' to make people feel sorry for you.
Sorry, but you keep shooting down people's ideas and all you've really done to try and find a job is look on the internet.
I have no sympathy.
