At what age did you lose your virginity?

I was just thinking about uni and freshers week and all that, and it occurred to me that surely, the longer I leave it, the more awkward it'll be to have to tell someone I'm actually a virgin? So really I was just wondering (if you guys didn't mind telling me) at what age you all lost your virginity, and if you had any thoughts about the whole thing?

Thanks again,
Em x

VanityStar 28-08-2007 06:17 PM

i was 17... a senior in high school.
i didnt tell the guy. he was a close friend of mine, but he just assumed that me & my ex had done the nasty, so i just let everyione believe that.
so ya, i lost my virginity to my best friend on his birthday & he didnt know till years later cause i read enough Cosmo to know how its done, i guess. lol!

So, there are ways around it. But it's really nothing to be embarassed about. i swear.

Minty 28-08-2007 06:20 PM

Unfortunately I didn't have choice about when I lost my virginity. However, after the event I didn't loose it properly consentingly until I was at uni. You'd be surprised how many people out there are still virgins at university there's nothing to worry about. My ex was 22 when he lost his virginity to me, if you are in a loving relationship the fact your a virgin doesn't matter and actually can show how much you care for a person. Don't rush into things you dont want to

Dan 28-08-2007 06:23 PM

I was 16.

secrets & lies 28-08-2007 06:29 PM

I was a virgin when I started at uni and used to worry about telling someone that I was. In the end I didn't tell him but I'm pretty sure he'd guessed before hand anyway.

Voldemort 28-08-2007 06:31 PM

I'm 18, still a virgin and proud of it.

I'm also starting Uni and it never crossed my mind to be honest. I guess it's 'cause I'm waiting for the right one, and if he's right it won't be awkward. I dunno.

broken_up_inside 28-08-2007 06:32 PM

I lost my virginity at 16, i was lucky in that i was in a long term relationship where we both loved each other and all that soppy stuff. But like Minty said, speaking from experience, you'd be surprised how many people are virgins at university, so dont rush into anything you dont want to do

Gizzy 28-08-2007 06:39 PM

I lost mine at 15. A couple of months into a relationship. No regrets :)
There are plenty of people I know that are your age-ish that haven't lost their virginity yet :)

Ami 28-08-2007 06:44 PM

I was 13 with some random guy. Nothing special. Hardly ever is.

Its great I think that some people are still virgins at least they cant wait for that special someone!

pixie*lyssie 28-08-2007 06:44 PM

I'm 18 and am still a Virgin. I wanna know what it's like though!

Pot_Steve 28-08-2007 06:49 PM

I was 19, to my girlfriend at the time, who would leave me after a year for a married, 40 year old music teacher...

BarrelO'Crazy 28-08-2007 06:52 PM

I was 15 just It was on my 15th birthday me and a girl Jenny who i'd known since I was born pretty much. We got very drunk and one thing led to another I regret it for 2 reasons. 1) It was a horrible drunken fumble and was nothing like I expected 2) I've never talked to her again and in fact I somehow managed to turn her into a christian, i didn't realise it could happen that way.

Ami 28-08-2007 06:52 PM

Its overrated anyways! :hehe:

tearsofgold 28-08-2007 07:08 PM

i lost mine on my sixteenth birthday, without consent and now can't stand the thought of it, some people just dont do it.

What, sex in general or the specific act of losing your virginity?

Blossom 28-08-2007 07:29 PM

Hey Em,

Personally, i waited until i was 17. I don't honestly believe in waiting for an occasion where there are candles, flowers, boxes of choccies etc; what i think is important is waiting until you are at a point where you can look back on losing your virginity as a happy memory. Does that make sense?

There needn't be an awkwardness, the parent in me has the desperate need to say that if the person you're with is someone you feel comfortable enough with to sleep with, then it shouldn't matter whether or not you're a virgin. A good point to remember is, if in doubt, don't.

PM if you want to talk some more btw.

Both. I was disappointed. Theres so much hype about sex.. i just think its overrated (personally!)

Anyways, Em, Im not at uni so i cant really comment, but dont worry about it. Dont feel pressured to do it because "you're gonna be the only virgin there". I guess it could be easy to get carried away at uni hopefully you wont regret it .. because alot of us wish we had waited for a bit longer, or for someone special or whatever.
Take care hun x

Lincoln 28-08-2007 08:19 PM

lost it at 16, with my current girlfriend (im now 17) we nerly been going out a year.

im glad i did wait till i was 16.

tbh the 1st time isnt all that amazing, its a nice experience for 1st time, but it gets way better if u try out different posisition and have a mess around while doing so. i just wish my girlfriend was more into different posisitions.

can i ask has anyone here done it cos they feel they have to to keep there lover happy?
iv had times where it sounds like my girlfriend hasnt wanted to... and even on my birthday which really was a let down.

Ami 28-08-2007 08:34 PM

^^ Yeah. When i was with this guy i was really depressed and just barely had a sex drive at all and he used to complain and say was i cheting on him (cos we never had sex for a month) so i used to just to shut him up. I never cheated on him and he just didnt understand. Thats probabaly why i didnt enjoy it.. cos i had depression.

Lincon can i just say, dont pressure your girlfriend if she doesnt want too, its not nice being on the receiving end :(

FallingStar 28-08-2007 08:55 PM

I was 12.
It wasn't anything special (Not that it was going to be)
It was stuipidly painful, and left me feeling dirty.

Gladly, I have no regrets.

Kallisti 28-08-2007 09:00 PM

I lost my virginity last week to the girl who I will gladly spend the rest of my life with. We've been together for a year and a half already.

It was very special for both of us.

lostdoll 28-08-2007 09:15 PM

I'm 17 and still a virgin.

Em, hun, don't feel pressurised at all. I can sort of understand the feeling of being like, the last virgin, but at least I'm in a better position than most. I'm waiting for the right person, and to lose it under the right reasons. I'd like to hope you'd do the same, and not just lose it under a bit of peer pressure. I really don't think it would be worth it.

Take care hun
xo

Jukebox 28-08-2007 09:50 PM

Don't have sex at uni. People will hear!
I heard the guy next door to me have sex a fair amount of times.
It's not a nice thing to be woken up by! I'd rather be woken up by a fire alarm (that happened toooo!)

secrets & lies 28-08-2007 10:47 PM

^ yes! the guy above me used to have a rather noisy girlfiend - it wasn't pleasant, it was either that or my room vibrating cause he had his music turned up that loud it kept everyone in the block awake. Halls were such fun!

Queen Crabbit 28-08-2007 10:55 PM

I lost it at about, 13/14. Unconsentually.

Then, consentually, when I was 17. To a person that's extremely special to me.

I'm glad I waited.

If stuff hadn't happened in my past I don't think I would have, but I'm glad I did.

surprising mystery 28-08-2007 11:02 PM

I was 17 and had been in a relationship for 5 months, we were together a year in the end and I have no regrets at all, he was the right one for me to loose my virginity to, even if we didnt make it for life.

ickle-duckling 28-08-2007 11:14 PM

Cheers guys, it's really useful to hear your input!! Part of me just wants the first time 'out of the way' so to speak but I'm well aware that that bit of me vanishes as soon as anyone actually suggests it as a good idea (stuff from the past gives me a tendency to panic in that kind of situation) so I guess I will probably end up waiting for something 'special' if you will! It just seemed like I was quite old to be still waiting because I'm already 19!

It's funny because the guys at work joke about sex and how I need to behave myself during freshers week etc all the time! Ah if only they knew..

Em x

Day Tripper 29-08-2007 04:41 AM

I had wanted to get my first time done with and taken care of. I don't regret my choices but that's because I have very few true regrets in my life. I do wish it had been to someone that truly cared about me and thought of me as more than what he did, though.

Don't just get it out of the way. With him it was just sex. With a person I really do deep down care about it's sex but more at the same time. It's a closeness to him that I really enjoy. I would have loved to have had that closeness the first time I had sex along with the funny awkwardness, even though I wasn't oblivious as to what I was doing.

lost_star_6 29-08-2007 04:53 AM

I was 12 as well... not really m choice though... kind of sucked... I think its cool to be a virgin, haha. kind of attractive.

lower than myself 29-08-2007 09:07 AM

I'm 16, still a virgin && proud to be one. That way my dad wont kill me later :D

HopeRises 29-08-2007 09:21 AM

Em, I was 20 when I love my virginity. It was a drunken thing and hurt like hell but at that moment in time it felt right. No regrets. Then he finished with me like 4 days later. But yeh I still don't regret it.

I wouldn't worry about it to much. I know a few people my age still are virgins. It's nothing to be ashamed off. Be proud that your waiting. I was glad I waited until that time (ok maybe I should have waited longer) but yeh.

Chin up.

Samz 29-08-2007 09:59 AM

I was 15 (just, it was the day after my birthday) and it wasn't special at all. I don't even remember most of it I was so drunk. The guy was a total creep and I never saw him again. I can't change it but it did put me in a really bad place for a while cos I felt so used and cheap and stuff. So I guess I do regret it a little bit.
I'm 17 atm though and lots of my friends haven't lost their virginity! So I don't think you should really worry =] Have fun at uni!

one_step_closer 29-08-2007 10:08 AM

I'm 20 and still a virgin. It doesn't bother me too much, and although people at uni seem to be sex mad it's actually not the case. You'll find that there are a lot of different people there and they are usually very accepting of people as a whole.

ButterflyKisses 29-08-2007 01:10 PM

lost it at 17, but theres still alot i havent done and will never do.
only do what ure comfortable with. stuff what anyone else wants lol x

Animad 29-08-2007 01:38 PM

I'm 20 and still a virgin, not too happy about it but there you go! I'm at uni and ther are quite a few people there who are still virgins. Uni isn't all about sex- but then again the course I'm on/ the college I'm in has around 86% girls anyway so its a bit different.

Fallen_Half_Angel 29-08-2007 03:28 PM

i was 14 to a guy who was my bf at the time!! it was awkward but not painful!! i dont regret it!! dont worry about uni, lots of people are virgins when they start uni! just do it when your ready! x x x

Devia_Angelus87 29-08-2007 03:49 PM

I wish that i hadnt lost my virginity with the person i did.....but then.....i would have still lost it to a crazy person either way

Hold on to it until you are ready

You dont want to regret it for the rest of your life

My course is about 25% girls but I see where you're coming from - I was (/am) just a bit nervous, you know? Part of me wants it over and done with so that it's not such a big deal and the other half thinks that I should wait like a sensible person! But thank you so much for all your inputs - it's really interesting and good to know I'm not alone!

18. and it was a one night stand... but then all the times i have have only been one nighters.... way overrated i think.... well the 1st time definitly was. i always knew id lose mine in a one nighter though... i wanted to get the embarassing 1st time out of the way with someone i never had to see again. each to their own though, anyone who looks down on someone for being a virgin is just a ****. =]

This is very true actually they seem to make the walls in halls out of paper, guess they are going for the japanes look. Yes I used to able to hear everyone and i guess they could all hear me.

-Chelsey- 29-08-2007 09:09 PM

I was 14,
I was very drunk. I don't know if I even consented. I regret it majorly.
Don't rush in to it. Really, you want to wait till you feel comfortable, not "just because"

Pointless 29-08-2007 09:43 PM

I was 20 so that's very late. Better late than never? :S

*Beth* 29-08-2007 09:46 PM

I was a virgin (discounting any nonconsensual occasions) when i went to Uni. I came very close to sleeping with a guy there because i felt i needed to do it and get it out of the way. I didn't in the end... thankfully i had the 'time of the month' excuse, but i'm glad i didn't.

Although when i did decide to lose it, it wasn't anything wonderful physically, i'm very glad it was with someone who appreciated that it was something important for me, rather than 'just' sex. It wasn't love, but it was someone i trusted and who cared and understood my worries and i have no regrets now.

gypsyroselee 30-08-2007 12:53 AM

16.
was a silly silly thing to do.could've gone horribley horribley differently.i was extremely lucky.
i would say it taught me a lesson but everytime since has been pretty much the same.

the last time definately taught me a lesson though.

whispers 30-08-2007 01:09 AM

I was 15. Just.
It was stupid, I was drunk and I didn't really know the guy. It was just nasty. It was ages ago really, so it doesn't bother me, but I would rather have waited.

I can understand where you're coming from, but maybe try not to see it as something to get out of the way. It's not something that really matters that much; no-one who's worth caring about is going to be bothered by it, and if it's fine with you, then that's great. There's nothing wrong with being a virgin at your age, or any age actually. I know plently of people who are aiming to wait until they're married (mainly within the Christian community, but still), and I really look up to them for that.

Just, don't feel like it's something you 'have' to do. It's not that great anyway, and I would imagine it's better with someone you care about.

ceapach 30-08-2007 01:10 AM

If I remember correctly, I was 12. And I haven't seen the girl since the camp it happened at was over. I don't regret it, but I never expected it to happen.

On the topic of virginity...i really don't care. I also don't think "waiting for the right moment" is a good way to lose it because you may never have that moment and if you do and you have straight sex, i hear it will hurt regardless.
Most of my friends irl don't know I'm not a virgin because I don't like discussing it because so much is placed upon whether some one is or not.

starting_over 30-08-2007 01:12 AM

I lost mine at 3 if you count abuse but if you dont then i was married, but even then i didnt want to i just felt like i had to still do dont know if i will ever willingly want to though.

Mandimoo 30-08-2007 02:16 AM

16 and to an ex who i was infatuated with.
big mistake
he then started calling on me every week (bear in mind it had been 2 years since i saw him til THAT day was halloween too) when i finally gave into him i got pregnant and had a v early miscarriage.

not good. wait until it's love nad not lust. mand x

chocostashchick 30-08-2007 02:51 AM

i was 14 and i dont have any real regrets or anything, it isnt a bad memory or a really good memory. i kind of wish i had waited and that it was special and with a person that i really knew and really cared about. i think that losing it can be really memorable and special, if you wait and know what you are doing and are mature enough to understand it and know what you are waiting for. i dont think i was.

butterfly525 30-08-2007 04:02 AM

I'm 19, in college, and still a proud virgin! So if you decide you want to wait, just know that there are others out there like you.
